I think it's potentially really strong, though I'm not sure whether it'll see play right now all the same. You want to play this in a deck with few and very powerful minions. In such a deck, this lets you pick which of your essential minions you want to draw AND summons a giant taunt in the process. In a deck like that, this is an auto include.

So then the only question becomes whether a deck which runs mostly only really powerful minions and at most a few low cost minions can be good right now. Whenever it can, this will always be played in it.

This also has a significant downside. The way it's worded, it won't work if you don't have a spell to discard, and Zoolock usually runs very few spells, and the ones they do run they really don't want to just throw away. Would you play this if it discarded your Impending Catastrophe?

It's still a strong card, to be sure, but you'll often find it sitting in your hand with no spell to discard or a high chance to discard a spell you really want to keep.

This is much, much better than Plague of Flames. it's 1 mana targeted hard removal, it just costs a 1-drop or token off your board.

posted a message on New Demon Hunter Legendary Card Revealed - Jotun the Eternal

I agree with you in principle, this card is incredible. I wouldn't be surprised if it's nerfed multiple times over the next few months. However...

    Quote from MysteryboxHS >>

There is simply no deck this will not go in, ever. This will, without condition, cheat more mana than almost any card ever printed.

... that's just wrong. For one, if there's ever a Control Demon Hunter with symmetric AOE effects, you wouldn't play this, unless your win condition didn't involve playing minions, since you'd just end up nuking your board randomly.

Secondly, and more relevantly, any minion heavy DK deck simply wouldn't get enough value from this to warrant its inclusion. If you have... let's say 8 spells in your deck, you'll likely draw 3 or 4 before Jotun, the Eternal, and then Jotun will autocast 2-4 more spells over the next 5-10 turns, all with random (enemy) targets. That's just not nearly enough value. I think 15 spells is close to the minimum you'd want to play to make Jotun worth including. Which granted, most DK decks are very spell heavy, most run more spells than minions, but that's a different point.

I don't think so, it "gains" "after", which doesn't imply a persistent aura. Effects that are worded like "has X because of Y" are usually the ones that can't be silenced, since they're not actually tied to the cards, they're just described that way.

Not 100% sure though, that's one of the more weird interactions in Hearthstone, it's one of the things I often see even good players confused with when they come across a rare aura effect card in game.

I think this card lives and dies on whether it gets additional support in this expansion. In a vacuum, it's just a bad card, you don't want to spend 4 mana to turn your good minions into slightly better stated random trash. However if Priest gets any cards that generate multiple weak minions, in other words something like Schooling, it could make it The Stars Align playable. Not a tier 1 deck or anything, but at least playable.

This is a 1 mana deal 2 that also doubles all damage you deal to minions for one turn. It's much better than Enchanter. That said, it's unlikely it sees play, but only because it's a Rogue card, Rogue isn't really a class interested in playing cards whose only purpose is efficiently killing minions, if this was in a more control-leaning class it would definitely see play.

It's not a hot take at all. Rogue likes cheap cards, card draw and ways to tutor for specific cards, all three of which this card provides, plus the ability to shuffle cards you don't want to draw directly if there's ever a rogue archetype that cares about that. I'm willing to bet money this card is a staple of multiple rogue decks over the next year.

At worst it's 1 mana "draw 1", which at times sees play depending on the meta. Realistically it lets you fish very quicky for specific cards, at a very low cost. It's a very easy 5 star card, not quite as good as secret passage but it will see play in just about every rogue deck as long as it's in standard.

Except that you seem to have forgotten that "Windfury" is one of the options on your weapon. It's pretty much the go-to tempo option at that, the others are all more control focused, for situations where you want the most out of your weapon over a long period of time, but in the situation you're describing - when you want to put on as much pressure as fast as possible, you'll just about always go for that.

Let me put it this way. A 5 mana 3/4 weapon with windfury that summoned just two 4-cost minions the turn you play it (and nothing the turn after) would see play in pretty much every deck that could run it. You rightly point out that this weapon has the downside of having to forge something first, and then play a weak minion, but the fact that you get to summon two more 4-drops for free the turn after you play the weapon more than makes up for it for the vast majority of decks, the only exception being classes that don't have any "Forge" cards that are even remotely worth playing. Add to that the flexibility of the 1 and 10 mana options, and this is just a no brainer.

This card will be ubiquitous when the expansion hits, I wouldn't be surprised if weapon removal is a must in every deck just to negate some of the value it'll bring.

Genius of Mimiron will summon 16 mana worth of minions alongside the other effects for 5 mana, or 32 mana worth of minions for 10 mana.

Realistically, the 10 mana weapon will only ever be picked against VERY slow control decks, but expect to see the 5 mana version a lot.
