posted a message on New Shaman Card - Volcano

if we go control shaman for the new meta, we lose elemental destruction, so obviously, this card will take it's palce, but being 5 base cost means it's going to be a one of since it's a conditional card. which is fine, in control your going to draw the majority of your deck from sheer turn count.

from how I see control shaman. they could run 6 clears effectively, two portals for the early game, 2 lightning storms for the swarms, a devolve for buffed boards, and a volcano for high singleton hp minons, that also happens to be good against a bunch of mid range minons.

finish up with 2 hex, and the rest of the deck can be your quest plan. which for shaman I"m betting is elemental.

First, volcano is super interesting, as its the first aoe that is good against all possible board combinations, and is not as broken as our older ones when you apply spell power totem. Its a 16 instead of a 15, not 23, secondly, it can kill big units too, like something rag sized, making it someing i can promise to be run as a one off in shaman decks.

Second thing. Elementals. That means new synergy cards. And it can't just be for shaman, you dont give a single class entire selling point for an expansion, so other classes get to join in on that fun.

The mage legendary, great for cabal decks, its a single card that you get to use 3 times. That will draw whatever early hard counters a class has right towards it. Most likely will cause people to consider silence again with the adapt mechanism they are adding in. And thats a great one too. They have a base stat body, that could have any number of keywords or generic abilities attached. It gives randomization like the company wants to keep things exciting, but also doesnt snub higher tier players with coin flip cards that win games like yogg or rag or dr boom.

Finally, and best of all. Quest cards. Legendary spells. Everyone was waiting for these to come into the game, and the way they decided to make them is a brilliant move. It forces decks to customize to the needs of the quest, and since they auto add to starting hands, you dont have to worry about the quest missing triggers.

before midrange control shaman dominating everyone for easiest powerful deck, there was totem shaman, which did quite a lot of work with random totem golems winning games on turn 3.

Well, dr boom gave more than he seemed because we didnt understand the value tradeoff worth of multiple bodies and abilities, and how an upfront ability on higher cost cards is worth more than reaction effects.

Troggzor wasn't bad, he was just slow. And gvg was a fucking fast meta, which is why 8 health on a shitty body mattered so much. In this slower meta right now it wouldnt be worth as much. And yes, it is slower, because if your beating aggro pirate warrior your deck is "can't kill me .exe" with tons of taunts and heals, so games will take a while if two of those decks encounter each other. Thats why, for 2 less health on a shaman class card, you get 3 more minion health and targetable heals.

    Quote from Djagga >>

Hail to you, PiratePlayer! :) I get legend every season - and i don't see in it anything competitive.

the one problem with that statement is that pirate warrior as it is now hasn't been around long enough to appear in major tournaments, so who knows if it will get there or not, but the aggro deck defines the first corner of the meta. everything builds around the strongest decks. that's just a fact.

actually thinking about it, 1 barnes and 1 free slot, so maybe 1 doomsayer for the tech. because barnes does make a minion, and your already frendly with nzoth, so you could get him to pop you 2 legendary copies for one some games.

well the situations that it can handle is generally a bunch of lower cost minons that just can't kill it, so, something that compensates for 6 damage at least, perhaps mistress of mixtures?

okay, been playing the deck out, and I feel like doomsayer may not be the best choice, there is too much high power in the late game to ever be useful, and a lot of early game can spend instant damages or weapon durability to make sure they hit for 7

I would suggest a different card

posted a message on New Shaman Card - Jade Claws

thank you for actually seeing that! everyone here just looks at this and say "spirit claws are better" and forget that spirit claws being a "3/3" weapon isn't often the case, I've had that thing as a 1/3 for too many turns to care about the meta hype.

jade claws are built for anti aggro, which in the developer's view plays 3/2s, makes an early golem, so playing 1 card gives you a weapon AND a minion, and that's value, and the minion is a jade golem, meaning that no matter what turn it is, playing this card never has a downside, early game, it's about the weapon, late game, it's about the golem.

honestly, all shaman needs is another 2 mana card that combos well with this weapon for the turn after play, and your set to move into jade spirit for the 2/2 drop or the control play with jade lightning, giving it the numbers you need to make that card not be crappy. hell, if that other card also got us a golem, it's a golem curve.
