posted a message on Six Card Nerfs Coming - Naga Sea Witch, Spiteful Summoner, and More!

Honestly pretty disappointed with these changes. Naga would have been better off changed to how it used to be instead of being made basically unusable (seriously doubt anyone's going to play that giants deck with Naga at 8). Spiteful Summoner change is far too slight to impact the deck's winrate (especially in the context of the other nerfs). Double nerf basically obliterates both cube and control lock meaning even with CtA nerf paladin in general will probably still get stronger. Quest change might actually be decent (although possibly it just kills the deck altogether). No change to Tarim or Cube is also very disappointing, cube in particular seems likely to be a problem card that'll come up again and again while it's in standard.

I mean I hope I'm wrong but it seems like it's just going to be even more paladins and spiteful druids after these nerfs. Not ideal given how little decision making is actually involved in playing those decks.

posted a message on What is the worst deck you have ever build?

Twilight's call OTK priest. Deck revolves around killing off 2 Corrupted Healbots then using a 4 card combo to deal 32 damage in one turn (2 x Twilight's Call, Auchenai Soulpriest, and Circle of Healing ).

The deck's bad enough as it is but I only had one copy of Twilight's Call so I was totally reliant on getting a second one from [Shadow Visions[/card] or Lyra. Think I won one game because it was against aggro and that was only because they conceded out of frustration after I dropped a 4th board clear in a row.

So I've started playing ladder again after the new ladder reset system, I thought worth giving a shot and I have more time to play. I used to reach Legend or at least rank 5 every season for the last 2 years. But I didn't bother to climb rank 5 for the last 4 months since Kobold release. Mainly because of variation of Big Priest, Cubelock and King's Bane Rogue are too overpowered this time around and I doesn't like playing popular deck like everyone is just playing the same.

What I found here, it reminds me the time when everyone is playing secret Paladin, if you cant beat it join it kind of situation. Do any of you feel the same? Do you think Big Priest, Cube/Giantlock and King's Bane Rogue are the problem? I understand that you can have 100% win rate with these 3 decks against the other deck that have 0 chance to win, its just impossible to beat them unless you play one of these 3 decks or a mirror match and see who draws better.

Why Im saying its a problem, because Big Priest and Cube/Giantlock are technically a control deck, but they can beat the ass out of you on turn 6 if they high rolled correctly, its a winning condition that have never exist before and Kings bane rogues is almost immortal on late game. Whats your thoughts?

The problem was the Brawliseum. Everyone has netdecked the best deck, and now Thinks "let's tryhard in rank, it' easier!" I really really hope this attitude will change soon tbh

     Exactly this.
Prior to that brawlisseum wild, while it had the potential for OP nonsense, was largely a place people experimented and tried new ideas. Since then I've had a LOT more games where, by turn 2-3, I know exactly what cards my opponent has in their deck and exactly how the game will play out. Perhaps some people enjoy that predictability but for me the best thing about wild was seeing what exciting and original concepts people came up with.

posted a message on Now can we talk about armor removal tech?

Complaining that armour gain gives OTK decks "little counterplay" seems a bit rich.

I also really don't think a card that removes all armour would be a good idea (because it has the potential to dumpster control/fatigue/dead man's warrior forever). What I could maybe get behind is some minions that do more damage to armour when they attack. Maybe 5 mana 4/6, can't be targeted, deal double (maybe even triple) damage to armour. Something that is problematic for an armour based opponent without being a 1 card win condition against decks that rely on high armour gain.

posted a message on BakaBaku -- Quest Hunter + Baku

I tried a similar deck to this in standard and it just got stomped. Initially I did what you did and focused on getting the quest done early but Hunter's lack of draw makes that tricky plus the payoff for completing the quest really does too little. I tried dropping a lot of 1 drops (running 2 copies of just 4 cost minions) and adding decent spells/ weapons and that definitely helped but it was still tough to get a win and the quest very rarely mattered as much as the hero power.

If you really want to run this deck I would consider dropping a lot of the bad 1 drops (weasel tunneler, raptor hatchling, brave archer, clockwork gnome, and undertaker). Some are just worse than existing one drops (for example Jewelled Macaw is just better than Webspinner) but mostly you need some other tools. Cards like Eaglehorn Bow, Unleash the Hounds, Kill Command, and Animal Companion are hunter staples for a reason. Also second Tol'vir warden is a must.

Also Mukla's Champion is super optimistic. Very unlikely you enter turn 7 with a board full of stuff unless your opponent fails to draw any AoEs (which they may well mulligan for vs hunter)

posted a message on Iksar on Naga Sea Witch: "We’ve Been Discussing a Variety of Changes"

Why on earth does Sea Witch need a discussion over "a variety of changes". Just revert it to how it was before you broke it.

The card isn't being used for anything other than giants so clearly whatever they were actually trying to achieve isn't something the community's interested in. Even if they did desperately want a different fix why didn't they temporarily revert it months ago along with any of the other patch's/ updates?

I call any deck which floods the board for a turn 6 win aggro. But I guess people like to just issue patronising responses nowadays.

posted a message on Equality too strong?

It's above the average power curve for sure but it's an essential tool for control paladin as well as midrange (if we ever see midrange decks again). It certainly isn't in need of nerfing as of right now. To look at a similar card in another class you mentioned Hunter's Mark used to cost 0 mana, it got changed to 1 and now sees almost no play (most spell Hunters weren't even running it iirc).

There's paladin cards that need changing but Equality isn't one of them.

posted a message on Paladin Card Idea: Crusader

Could honestly be a 5/6 without being overpowered imo. The issue is that the weapons you want to copy all fall after it on curve (Valanyr, Vinecleaver, and Silver Sword). Played on curve the best you could hope for is the almost negligible Truesilver effect.

Side note: would it do anything with Sword of Justice (since it has no durability to spend)?

posted a message on Which card should I craft for Rogue?

Edwin's the "safe" choice but I'd suggest holding off until we see what nerfs happen/ what they do to the meta. Kingsbane and Sonya could both potentially see more play afterwards depending on what gets hit/ how and imo they're both more interesting/ fun than Edwin.

Sherazin's fun for memes in wild but as far as standard goes he barely saw play back when silence wasn't in every single deck so right now he'd be a terrible pick.

posted a message on Blizzard has announced a balance patch is coming AFTER the HCT Playoffs

Are we pretending the technology isn't there yet for them to have a different patch active for the tourney compared to the main game? Other games, including at least one other Blizzard game, manage this just fine.

Also bear in mind hardly anyone would care if we hadn't already had a month of this. 2 months for a fix (even longer for some cards which were an issue pre-WW) is unreasonable for a game with the resources and playerbase this one has, not to mention one so stupidly expensive.

Tarim and Gul'dan DON"T need nerfs, they are perfectly fine as they are.I agree with the rest.

Gul'dan I can understand (other warlock cards seem much more problematic) but Tarim is too powerful. Absolute worst realistic case he's a 6 mana 5/9 with partial taunt (including +2/+2 on hero power minion). Much more often he singlehandedly turns a game from difficult to win to utterly unwinnable.
The tempo swing alone of getting an easy kill on any well statted minion is significant but to also be able to potentially +2/+2 a whole board (i.e. a 7 mana effect elsewhere) is absurd. He acts as a tempo play, threat removal, board control, buff card, and finisher all in one.

posted a message on Pack Prices

For me just seeing them drop this regional pricing BS would see them getting more money. I quite like the look of several Witchwood cards and was tempted to go for the pre-order deal for 70 packs until I saw the price (almost 1/3 more than in the US).

I expect OP's proposition would help them get players who don't normally spend anything to buy some packs but at this point I feel like the vast majority of profits are being made on the 'whales' who spend hundreds per xpac. Ultimately I doubt it'd make any significant short term difference to their bottom line.

Long term I think the cost of the game (combined with the 'hands off' approach to balance) is driving people away. I can only imagine how frustrating it is for the players dropping a cool thousand to get all the new cards only to find only a couple of those cards will be usable for the next 4 months.

posted a message on Untold Tales - Neutral Hearthstone Expansion

Lord of the Sword feels more like a rogue class card than a legendary imo because of their hero power, which could easily have that weapon be out of hand by turn 9. Perhaps if the blade's power was affected by hero power uses instead? Possibly with the condition that it can't hit heroes?
