Also, your claim that unidentified maul is better than rallying blade doesn't really stand, since maul can't kill 3 health minions, which are pretty common in the current meta (northsire cleric, mana wyrm, arcanologist, kirin tor mage, southsea captain, SI:7 agent, malchezar's imp, voidwalker, etc) and also because rallying blade can buff your righteous protector, burnbristle and corpsetaker.
Besides, unidentified maul fits more a flood/zoo deck, since it buffs multiple minions (think of it as a gentle megasaur/bloodlust). This deck doesn't seem like that to me, it's more midrange.
just make sure to take repentance from hydrologist and play it around turn 7-8 to counter obsidian statue and other big minions
Biggest minion razakus plays is raza, obsidian statue and other big minions are only present in big priest.
My recommendation against razakus is to include rag lightlord and play it only when you need healing and preferably with a getaway kodo. If you don't want to include another high cost minion (understandable), try to mulligan and play more aggressively against them.
If I were you, I'd sub Mind Control Tech (situational, bad against control) for second Fire Fly (best one drop in the game, helps trades with maelstrom, jade claws, flametongue)
Shouldn't be in the deck imo, playing a bad card for the sake of a better barnes is bad
Also other questionable picks, like houndmaster without reliable beasts on 3 (houndmaster also pollutes your barnes pool)
I would swap arfus for a second animal companion, macaw for tracking, and one houndmaster (probably for the second tracking). This way you don't play bad minions (arfus), make your barnes better by taking out one houndmaster and macaw and have two trackings to thin your deck and find lethal/rexxar/highmane/lich king
Well I'm not sure about that. The time The Darkness awakens, your opponent most likely has already drawn shadowword pain or even shadowreaper ready to answer your 20/20...
For sure it will have some impact.
And just thinking about the possibility your opponent draws all 3 candles in a row at turn 4 is worth trying it out :D
When people say "the darkness counters razakus priest", they mean that both raza and kazakus won't be active because they will have 3 candles in their deck, rather than meaning that the 20/20 will kill the priest. Or maybe I misunderstood what you meant with the post :)
You can't run To My Side! in a midrange hunter deck, it competes for Savannah Highmane for mana cost (and loses) and most of the time it won't even summon two companions, unless you keep it in your hand forever, which is a bad thing to do.
It's probably meant to be played in a control deck with spells, weapons and Deathstalker Rexxar only. I guess the plan would be to survive to turn 6 (thorugh control spells) then start building beasts, so the "don't run any minions in your deck" can be satisfied and you can still play minions at some point. The problem is that hunter lacks good AoE, hard removal and card draw, so the archetype will probably not thrive, which means To My Side! becomes a dead card.
The problem I think is that they're trying to push a more control oriented version of hunter without giving it proper tools, making many of the new cards (from this expansion and the previous ones) useless. And I'm not saying that hunter should be able to be as good as a control deck as say, control warrior back then with Justicar Trueheart, but they can't just half-push and archetype, because it will fall flat and the other archetypes (aggro and midrange) will suffer because they won't have as many new good cards added that allow them to keep up with the rest of the classes.
You're supposed to take control of the board with your own board. Playing AoE that harms your own board in an aggro/tempo/zoo deck will only decrease your winrate, as you could be running something better in that deck slot. Even AoE that only damages the enemy is not good (except for Maelstrom Portal because it generates a minion)
It will help at times, yes, but given the nature of these decks most of the time it will just sit in your hand forever and hurt your chances of winning.
For instance, would you play Brawl in pre-war axe nerf pirate warrior just in case? Or Volcano in token shaman just in case?

The problem with dude paladin is that 1/1's die very easily. I can see you have buffs and all, but have you considered adding Steward of Darkshire?

That makes sense. I guess trying to fish for another Ice Block/Blizzard/Frost Nova is not as consistent as running Cone of Cold

No Primordial Glyph? And also, Cone of Cold?

I would probably swap spawn of n'zoth with vicious fledgling, flappy bird with charge is just busted

No problem. You're right, best to wait to see how the meta develops

Too many weapons in my opinion.

I would at least run one copy of tracking tbh, probably replace arfus or jeweled macaw

I'll start by trying out taunt warrior, something like this:
I might also make an armor version of this, or maybe just armor control warrior (without the quest).
I'll also try to play midrange/aggro hunter with just the addition of Dire Mole
Then probably some kind of elemental shaman with the new cards.
I'd like to try dude paladin too, but I don't have much confidence in a bunch of 1/1's surviving

I agree, it has always seemed like a low impact card to me
