then you draw the only 3 spells in your deck.

then you cry and DE this card.

10 mana 7-7 draw 3 is a bigger, better ancient of lore. Honestly that's a perfectly fine outcome, given the spells you'll be running are sustain and removal.

posted a message on You know what this new expansion also means?

A class is something that a lot of them will discuss and throw around for a while to come, with it eventually getting added to the game. You can balance it around the inspire effect by looking at the pool of cards and adding a hero power that isn't overwhelming with them, or is straight up bad with them if its too worrisome.

The only thing that this expnasion probably also means is balance changes, as came with GvG, before and after nax, etc.

posted a message on Leeroy Jenkins
    Quote from OriginalPerly jump

There was a time in the mists of yore...or something where Rogue used to have a Leeroy, Shadowstep, Leeroy, Shadowstep, leeroy, Cold Blood, Cold Blood, preperation, hit face with weapon, Sap combo.

Now clearly this isn't it but there was basically around 30 points of damage from an empty board and a dagger in hand. Massive outcry, nerf bats called for, Blizz concedes the point then gets slated for it, the usual dramas. By increasing his cost to 5 mana this prevented the ridiculous combo (or similar) as seen above and then came Miracle Rogue.

More importantly than this however was the constant fucking noise the card makes and when you get "Leeeeeeeeeeeroooooyy Jeeeeeehhhhhhnkiiiiinsssssaaaaaah!" 3 times in the same turn, for the 5th game running you felt like physically gouging your eardrums out.

Honestly Patron's voice line is nothing compared to Leeroy's, especially given it's relatively rare that when you hear it you're completely doomed the way you are when you hear leeroy's.

posted a message on Poll: Neutral cards giving Paladin benefits, good or bad?

Hearthstone is constantly pushing the limits on what you're allowed to play with in any given choice. So long as class cards are distinct enough and you're only allowed to pool from neutrals and from class specifics, the methods by which you could get other class's cards don't really matter. These kinds of effects, (Nefarian, Burgle, the 6 mana 5-5, spellslinger, etc) are cards which have random effects, but that randomness is controlled by the existing cards in the game. It lets them design cards with wide possibilities without making up new psuedosets for them (as is often called out as a problem in ETC and Ysera).

For this specific expansion, it makes even more sense to have a card that lets you draw from Paladin cards, as this is lore wise a pretty paladin focused thing. The idea that there would be paladins running around everywhere is pretty fitting for this expac, and as someone who adored Paladin that's exciting to me! I love seeing Paladin cards, and this doesn't effect anyone's way to use Paladin cards.

The results have high variance, but there might be decks that use them well despite it. Priest, for instance, can make great use of damage reductions, divine shields, heals, clears, weapons, etc etc etc. And it's exciting that there's a chance Tirion might slip into games more often.

The card is fun and very thematically fitting. I say let's be excited and hope it's good enough for constructed!

I like it and dislike it.

I like it because well...the obvious part, there was no difference being a 20th rank player or a legend player

I dislike because people will tryhard to get those rewards now, im thinking on an overwhelming invasion of facehunters. (even if the meta changes)

With the growing number of options against face hunters, I say, let them come.

posted a message on Is aggro dead?

Despite complaints on the forums, aggro's been dead since the undertaker nerf. Most styles of play are either midrangy, comboy, or controlly. Faster midrangy styles (Zoo, Mech Shaman, etc) are certainly common, but they really can't be defined as burn aggro, which I imagine is what you were worried about.

Blizz matchmaking both is not screwing you over and cannot screw you over. You may be suffering from trying to answer too thin a margin in the meta, or being unaware of the full meta. Play a good 30 games and make a judgement around then which deck is ideal, or just stick with what you like in general.

posted a message on Cheating In Heartstone

Damage dealt doesn't carry over post silence. It maintains the minion at the amount of health it was at, or lower if that health exceeds its max. It's a well known and properly functioning mechanic of the game, and nothing to worry about.

The devs probably never heard of a normal gameplay feature being referred to as 'cheating'. Not this one anyway.

    great card

The drawback is almost nonexistent, are you kidding? This is a bigger flame imp, and the only reason flame imp ever sees less use is because it's too small. Health drawbacks, particularly this miniscule, are very irrelevant for the sheer stats the card gives. Instant replace of egg or haunted creeper or at least one flame imp in zoo. Might also give rise to an even more thoroughly demon midrange style.

posted a message on Handlock... sucks?

Handlock's widely considered the second best deck in the game, and has stood the test of time thoroughly. It is, however, one of the hardest, and requires really good teching and really keen meta analysis. Chows, weapon removal, and earlier cards will help a lot against face decks, but even without that you should be comfortably 50/50 against a face deck, maybe 60/40 in their favor with a standard list.

posted a message on Blizzard Neverlucky

Forums are generally unpleasant, communities are generally pleasant is the rule. If you find a group of people who like hearthstone or starcraft or diablo or team fortress two or heroes or league of legends or anything, odds are they're gonna be pretty pleasant to be around because being united by a single desire tends to make conversation positive. Forums are innately much less comfortable, for various reasons, and next to none of them have anything to do with the subject matter.

Blizzard's aware of this, and it's expected for the most part. They read through their forums and plenty of online community ones, and have to filter very hard to actually get useful information.

Why would you ever use this over Polymorph

You wouldn't. You'd run both. This card probably will see lots of use in very slow mages that run double poly but need comfortable answers to big things. It's much better than fireball.

    Quote from Teknician jump

I still can't wrap my head around how bad this card is. How did Blizzard mess this up so badly? There are so many community ideas for Warlock spells that are so much better and more relevant than this that it's mind boggling.

Bad cards are important. And specific bad cards with unique effects are particularly important. Each class is going to get about 8 cards, and what we've seen so far are the cards blizzard is least excited to show us. Given that they've all been fairly mechanically unique and interesting, that bodes very well for this expansion. And particularly for warlock, that now has two very interesting cards, if fairly bad ones.

Classes have often gotten strictly better versions of neutral cards, and on top of that lost tallstrider is a bad card and was added to the game as such. This is meant to be usable.

posted a message on Legendary card voting at 100%!!!!

Calm down. They meant reveal both earlier than you'd see the one that wasn't voted for. Not the clearest of language, but it's what you'd expect given a very precise announcement schedule.

Practically obligatory pessimists aside, this is great news! Looking forward to the announcement tomorrow. Nice to get two legendary announcements just a week after TGT is announced!

posted a message on The Lich King Question!

The problem with an icecrown adventure is that we already had Nax, and the two are way too similar to justify different adventures. I think it's much more likely we get Arthas this expansion, as he's a character many are deeply excited for.
