its the same in every aspect of life....sports...equipment...technology...

so apple bring out the iPhone as new technology....and years later the original iPhone is pretty much obsolete as its been replaced by a newer type of phone. the original still around and useable...but why would you?

sports teams bring out new jerseys and uniforms....rather than stick with those from the 70s. why? to keep their look fresh and get new sales. 

every year, the FIFA, NFL, NHL and NBA bring out latest games, updated with stats, players and new modes....but hey, lets all just play the 2008 versions and stick with that ad infinitum.

I could carry on with example after example....food, cars, clothes....you name it. Its called business.

Which is ultimately what Hearthstone is. Of course this is what they are gonna do.

Though the first game was lost before y'sharrj, tbh). The conspiracy theory side of me wonders if blizz upped the legendary rate for the first 24 hours or so, but I doubt it - saw none today, saw one in every game yesterday (though it was more like 50% of opponents that played one, which equates to most - random generation shafted me), though small sample sizes. Will probably Arena a bit more, but does not feel healthy overall.

Upper ranks are also 90% rogues, which is... irksome. Some very strong cards mixed in for most classes, though (unleash the beast won many games alone); main gripes are the stupid rates of good/topend unanswerable legendaries, and the split between "go hyper aggro!" and "huge value", without much in between, it seems - and when you don't get offered any good topend, you're forced into a bad deck when you don't get enough aggro. Also, highrolls with stuff like evolve are issues with Arena. I literally lost yesterday to a mage evolving into Antonidas, mage spell generation is complete RNG, a warrior going 4 warpath, double coin (from my soldier of fortune), mana cyclone. RNG is Arena a lot of the time now.

 

I'm not trying to shut you down or anything, just adding in a counterpoint to you, and explaining some of the frustrations with the format ATM. I'll agree that it's good to see old cards back :)

 no problem, and I absolutely agree that one run, a day after new expansion release, is nothing like anywhere near a good enough sample to gauge things from.

it just feels fresh. maybe it is just the return of some old classics that are such fun to play - and as im not a wild player in constructed, playing them again maybe blinds me to the other points you rightfully make.

as above....I complete quests, play some arena, complete the brawl for a free deck, and just use HS when I want to play it. Look to accrue gold for new expansion packs without the need to spend cash.....win, lose....its a game. Much the same as when I play any game. Much rather spend time with my kids, or play sports.

Basically....its a game! Nothing else!

I would love :

Tournament Mode - 8 players buy into tournament for (say) 500 gold each, single elimination match best of 3, gold paid to top 2 : 75%/25% - something like that

User Defined Games - Have a few variables to give the games some variety - maybe casual mode only - more/less Health, variable Mana start, No Legandary cards, Class cards only.....things like that. Player A sets the game and its listed for people to join.

I (personally) think the ability to earn gold is good enough from HS - the daily challenges and 10 gold for 3 wins is ample and allows even casual players enough gold earning ability for packs and expansions - maybe the rewards for Arena could be improved some, but overall I think its a decent enough balance currently.

ive seen Light's Justice countless times and ive never realized how good it is....quite the opposite in fact.

Please enlighten me.

My vote would go to Counterspell…….a card that has caused many an insta-concede for my opponents
