The thing I like most about Hearthstone is creating and finetuning decks. I've been doing it for years. The problem is Hearthstone in it's current shape actually discourages creating decks. Sure, at first glance, you're invited to do so. The discouragement starts after hitting play. Without exaggerating, 95% of all my matchups with self created decks are against pure meta decks. The stuff you find on hsreplay with the highest win ratings. So after I've started my third game and I realize on turn two that it's going to be another completely one-sided match, I give up. I've got quests to complete, so I copy a deck from hsreplay and play it like a drone. Yuck. Soul crushing business. Almost feels like I'm at work. Not a feeling one should have when playing a game.
I find myself browsing my collection less and less after a new set comes out, let alone try and create a new deck. Instead, more and more days are just about clearing my quest log. That is not what is going to keep me coming back to Hearthstone. I can't imagine I'm the only one. Any game developer knows that you have to make people keep on coming back to your game in order to make money. Encouraging creativity goes a long way towards that. All that needs to be done is to give non-meta decks some space.
So, it's time for non-meta play mode in Hearthstone! It can be a variant of play mode with standard and wild formats. The only difference would be a weekly updated list of (variants of) decks that can't be played. It can't take a lot of work, as the required data already exists. Just look at hsreplay. For the players, it could amount to a single checkbox 'Experimental mode' in Play mode and a pop-up saying the currently selected deck can't be played in experimental mode. That's it! A simple change that would add a lot of depth to the daily Hearthstone experience.
Don't want a separate variant? Then implement this during matchmaking. Match non-meta decks with each other more often.
it's not exactly balanced, but that's the point of brawls
Are you sure you're not mistaking high RNG content for balance? You don't think professional game designers have an obligation to balance content? Because that's the problem here. It could have been a very fun brawl, but we're nowhere near balance between all 9 decks.
No balance, yet another opportunity for a fun event turned into a frustrating sh*tshow. Who comes up with this stuff?
That druid deck is an absolute disaster. Tried it twice, full mulligan twice, unable to play a card the first two-three turns. Then again, it's hard to come up with three viable druid decks after those ridiculous ramp nerfs.
Mage and Warlock OP. Turn 3 discard entire hand, gg. At least it was a quick game. Most of them were actually. Completely one sided that is.
Sorry but I don't see the value over the earlier Espionage decks.
By adding Keleseth there are even more cards that need to be drawn at the right time. Removal such as Eviscerate and Sap has been sacrificed. I even miss Fan of Knives. Edwin has also disappeared, which is a great tempo card if not an alt win.
Worst brawl ever. There's a difference between hard and impossible. This is infuriating and not worth the effort at all. I'd be surprised if more than 5% of all players got their pack within 10 tries.
And the joy of drawing those Stormwind Champions over and over again. Brilliant touch!
Aren't games supposed to be enjoyable? An infuriating grind for 1 lousy pack is not fun. Is that news to you Blizz?
"don't worry if you can't complete a daily each day" --> Seems like bad advice. If you don't login, you don't a quest for that day. Or has that changed?
Also, does anyone know if existing quests will lose their pack on April 9th? (So complete or just get the quests before the 9th?)

Well, that's good news, to me at least. I stand corrected.

Well, some time ago I logged in after three days, had an empty log and got only one quest. Could have a bug, but haven't missed a day since.
