Yeah, maybe it was a good concept, however, Blizz didn't pay any attention for the deck construction at all. Absolutely garbage cards like Sleep with fishes or a Cuthroat that Silences a Deathrattle minion - while I faced ONE deathrattle minion in ~5 games, and it was Mistress of Mixtures. You gain Finja and all he can pull from his deck maybe (if you're very lucky) another Finja.
And your opponent plays a double-buffed Doppleganger and you stare at them with extreme frustration because all mass removal you have is called "Sleep with fishes". Absolutely crappy brawl.
1) Faster laddering. To climb up to higher ranks, you need to play a lot of games - and if you're not a great pro player (say, your winrate isn't sky high) you'll have to grind a lot. If a game lasts for 5 mins instead of 20, you play 4 times more games than you could with control deck.
2) Easier to pilot. In general, as the game goes shorter and your cards are more linear in nature, with aggro you have less decision points per game. It doesn't mean that aggro is as brainless as salty players say; it's still rather hard to master, but much easier to learn. It's not that easy to play an aggro deck perfect, but it's much harder to play it absolutely horrible; in comparison, if you're new to the game and pick up a combo/control deck, you'll suck very hard.
3) Cheaper to craft. While not always completely true, in general aggro decks tend to be cheaper in dust value as they have few (if any) Epics or Legendaries. In older days you could build a competitive Face Hunter or Zoo Warlock deck in 1000-2000 dust range, when a decent Control Warrior Deck was something like 10000-12000 dust total.
Yeah, I also totally hate this card by two interconnected reasons. First, It single-handedly counters and slaughters any strategy, which depends on specific board presence - be it taunts, Divine Shield + buff strategy, deathrattles or even more specific ones, and all of that just for two mana. Second, it's not predictable and totally RNGsus - you just play this and pray that Random Gods will be on your side today, or their 5-drop 5/5 will become a 4-drop 7/7, and so forth.
Overall it looks like a giant button "totally mess the board (most often to your advantage)", and for 2 mana that's totally ridiculous.
Flavor: Welcome to the Dark Side. We have cookies.
Commentary: it's a beloved son of Mind Control and all Forbidden cards, a Mind Control that actually scales and is useful at any stage of the game. It's not strictly better, however. You have limited control over it and you can't take an Old God or any other 10-cost minion with it. This seems totally appropriate, as the card pictures a person studying some forbidden things (listening to some corrupted cleric) and converting to the Evil Side after that. More powerful minions (that cost more) are more resistant, but even they'll eventually succumb to these dark gifts. Only the Old Gods and other creatures of mythical power are totally immune.

Arcane Blast is really a blast (pun intended). With Cult Sorcerer in play it deals 4 damage for 1 mana, it's great early cheap removal spell.

I was lucky to actially finish (and win!) a second game. However, during 1st and 3rd I was disconnected just like you stated.
