ArcyroX posted a message on Mercanaries Task Discussion/Guide ThreadPosted in: Mercenariesjust an FYI, for the 14th task of Wrathion, "use true form/fel reign 10 times", its not enough to use one of those abilities 10 times.
what the game actually wants you to do is play true form and then fel reign, 10 times, in that order. you cant use 10 fel reigns, you have to play both of those abilities one after the other 10 times. from another perspective, since there is no way of getting back the true form ability, you can only progress this quest 1 at a game.
From my experience, you don't need to use Fel Reign. Just use True Form and finish the battle and the task will progress. It's problably bugged/poor worded, because Fel Reign doesn't count.
yea I was just about to correct myself, Thats true. After wroting here, I thought of that possibility and I just tested it and you are correct.
so basically the task is: "use True Form 10 times"

xskarma posted a message on Opinion on book of heroesPosted in: General DiscussionThis basically started with the Demon Hunter intro. That one was great. You got good cards, you grew in power and got a huge dollop of lore in the fights.
Then we got Ashes of Outland and the Rusted Legion. Those fights were also rich in story, but the decks and the fights in question were a little sketchy.
Then we got the first Book of Heroes: Jaina. And that was rich in story too, but the fights were kind of bulshit and you didn;t really feel yourself get all that more powerful.
And then we got the rest of the Book of Heroes and it continued the downward trajectory to the point I stopped bothering with them altogether.
The lore is fun, but I KNOW the Lore, I know it better than it is represented in these fights. I play WoW and I follow the Lore there and have for many many years. I don;t need to do these Book of Heroes chapters to learn anything.And the game play is just obnoxious. I understand not allowing us to create our own decks for this (I don;t agree, but I understand) and I understand not giving us the most powerful constructed decks to make it a bit of a challenge.
But what happens is that we get decks that even the biggest newb wouldn't take into these fights. Way too many of your cards are just flat out bad and there is often very little cohesion in the deck, making you flail at stringing together some kind of way to defeat fights.And then there's the opponent decks and tricks. The fights are made artificially harder for no real purpose and there's often no real way to play things smart and circumvent the AI's gotcha plays. You just have to play the fight a bunch of times till you luck out and your draws line up correctly.
That's not "smart play" and it is certainly not entertaining. It makes getting through these Chapters a dreary excercise in patience while putting up with things you would never tolerate anywhere else in the game.
These Book fo Heroes fights could be CREATIVE, they could force you to beat the bosses in interesting ways with powerful cards and combinations. Instead you get a deck full of shitty cards and get asked to bang your head against the wall till it breaks by one sheer lucky attempt at it.
In short, I WANT to like Book of Heroes. I liked earlier incarnations of this same concept. What they are currently trotting out in these chapters is not good enough and I am simply not bothering with them anymore. 1 free pack is not worth the awful experience. I play this game for fun, and this ain't it./rant

Thank you for the maths lesson my dude. Could've done without the rudeness, but thanks none the less
I find a little rudeness helps motivate people to actually put in the effort to do things themselves rather than ask others to do it for them. It took me ten seconds on google to find those numbers, it would have taken you the same amount of time.

SinAscendant posted a message on "New" Core SetPosted in: General DiscussionSo no original basic and classic cards are rotating at all?
Can you not count?
Classic has 240 cards, Basic has 143, for a total of 383. 2nd grade math shows that means 233 basic and classic cards are being rotated out, they are leaving about 40% of the existing sets in.

Dunscot posted a message on The Cards Become Too Powerful?Posted in: General Discussion"Returning to the rooots" is an interesting suggestion to handle powercreep. Not too long ago, Dean Ayala had said on Reddit (or was it Twitter?) that powercreep is inevitable to make more exciting cards. On the one hand, I disagree, because it's all relative, and the supposed advantage of Standard is that cards rotate out and you technically don't need to push the ceiling higher and higher.
On the other hand in all fairness, it's not that easy to do either, and they kind of have a point. Which is why I think it won't happen anymore.
They tried something like that (or at least it looked that way) in 2018. WW, BDP and RR were fairly mediocre sets, with Boomsday standing out a bit, but they were all entirely overshadowed by the previous year (JTU, KFT, KnC) along with Genn and Baku. When ROS came out, all those cards including Genn and Baku rotated, and the game was a bit more "normal" again, but even then, some people complained about the game lacking exciting big powerful cards.
Then SoU happened, and then DoD happened, and we were right back in the spiral where everything needs to be insane again. Hardly anyone took notice of the last rotation, aside from missing Zilliax and a handful of other cards. Most of 2018 was forgotten already before it left Standard. And it's not even that Ul'dum or Dragons were super ridiculous beyond any measure, they were just better than the mediocre stuff again that 2018 mostly had to offer.
This year, AoO and SA were so good, that Dragons seems just "ok" again, and MDF seems a bit underwhelming, despite being a pretty decent set overall. And once again, the stage is set for next year. Even with Classic possibly disappearing, I don't even think it will have much of an impact. Neither on the meta, nor on the powercreep issue, since Classic isn't exactly a high hanging bar anymore, and it's disappearance wouldn't allow for "weaker" cards in the current situation to have a place in the game.
If you want to mitigate powercreep, you have to start somewhere, and you have to stick with it for at least a year for a proper reset in Standard. But then you have a meta that doesn't change much for too long, and the game won't be as exciting. Why would you look forward to new releases, when it's gonna be another TGT or RR?
However, it should be noted that "power" can mean many things, like a super efficient discover or resource generator, an extremely strong swing effect, a very good heal/armor effect, a powerful board clear, etc.. The powercreep doesn't all have to go in the same direction, but can take different shapes. Tickatus is a very powerful disruptor, Archivist Elysiana is a very powerful refill. The game is getting "crazier", but not necessarily faster or more swingy.
So, I don't think powercreep is always a "bad" thing, and it depends more on the specific mechanic or shape, in which it comes.

laadeedaa posted a message on What's Hearthstone still missing?Posted in: General DiscussionA 2v2 mode. I've wanted to see this implemented for a while!
Would also like a new mode called like "Seasons" mode or something, where each month you can play specific seasons where only the cards available in those seasons can be used. That would be epic. They had a Tavern Brawl like this where you could go back and play C'Thun Warrior and other awesome decks!
A "Build Around" mode would be cool too. Where 2 players are given the same 10 (or some reasonable number) mandatory cards that MUST be included in their deck and then they get a certain amount of time to build a deck and face off against each other. It would be kind of like an anti-netdecker mode!

Krishno_NL posted a message on 10g/3 Wins should be 10g/gamePosted in: General Discussion10g per game sounds good, as long ast hey keep the goldcap a day...
this means that you get your 100 gold in just 10 wins... or they do 10g per 2 wins, that will be 20 games per day...
the reasoning behind the 3wins per 10 gold is to keep people playing, and keeping a healthy amount of people online for matchmaking games... the more people are playing the easier it gets to have people matched up...

Omega trash tier deck. Draw Duel or lose. Climbed from 4900 legend to 5900 legend. Thank you for the thousand ranks lost with this deck /s

You should complete it today. All gold quests will be replaced by new ones tomorrow.

Hello, everyone. In this
wall of textthread I'll show my suggestions for the Hearthstone's economy, which I think is one of the major issues with the game right now. All of the changes I'll suggest are based on the following principles:1) In order to obtain a large collection, a player must spend money in the game, or more time than the average player.
2) A f2p structure can't inflate the price of packs. In other words, players should be able to grind a limited amount of gold each day in order to
prevent Blizzard from raising the packs' price to 300 goldkeep a balance in the gold economy.In other words: the more a player invests time into the game, so he/she will be rewarded by this new system, and that the rewards have a daily/week limit.
In my opinion, the daily quests are in a preety good spot right now and doesn't need any changes, so let's begin with the Daily Wins.
Daily Wins
In my opinion, all of the flaws with the current f2p system are synthesized in the daily wins structure. For sure, a f2p player must be more dedicated than the others, but 30 wins for 100 gold is just way much. So, here's what I would change if I was in charge of the
children's cardgame:1 - Wins in Casual Mode and Tavern Brawl won't count towards daily wins rewards. Instead, the Tavern Brawl will have it's own reward system, which I'll explain further, and Casual is... Casual.
2 - Players will receive 5 gold per ranked win, 10 gold per Battlegrounds top 4, and 20 gold per Battlegrounds first places, with a 100 gold daily cap.
3 - For the first, third and fifth daily ranked wins, players will earn, respectively, 25,15 and 10 extra gold, for a total of 50 extra gold each day. This is based on Runeterra's extra XP for the first 3 wins.
4 - With those changes, players need to win 10 ranked games to earn 100 gold, down from the currently 30 wins needed. In addition, dedicated players can win 10 more games, for 50 more gold. This structure has diminishing returns, so the more you play, the less are the gold per win ratio. Check the table for more info:
With this structure, Daily Wins can award the player a maximum of 18000 gold in a period of 120 days (the average period between expansions), but that will require a lot of dedication.
Tavern Brawl
Based on the Legends of Runeterra's weekly vault system, the new Tavern Brawl would have 3 treasure chests, unlocked at 1, 10 and 20 wins. Check out the reward table for more info:
Also, I think that would be great if we had always a constructed and a non-constructed brawl per week, so that players can choose whatever one is better to them.
The most dedicated players will earn on average 48 classic packs, 2400-4000 gold, 16 arena tickets and 16 golden cards (of any of the rarities except legendary) between expansions. The ticket prize is one way of
make more people lose to Twin Tyrantincrease arena's popularity.Ranked Rewards
The current rewards table will still be the default for this new reward system. Monthly ranked rewards from both Standard and Wild modes will stack. Of course, new players (ranks 50-26) won't be elegible for this, since they
are P2Wcan't play in Wild. Just like Hearthstone Mathematics suggested, higher ranks will also award a number of packs from the most recent expansion:Legend: 10 packs
5-1: 5 packs
10-6: 3 packs
15-11: 1 pack
You can see their suggestion here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CL3JGDBa8eY&t=256s
Players will receive arcane dust based on the following formula*:
(SDust + WDust) * (SStars + WStars), where:
SDust is the amount of dust awarded for the player's highest rank achieved in Standard Mode, based on the current rewards table.
WDust is the same of SDust, but applied for Wild.
SStars is the amount of stars the player has in Standard when the ranked season ends.
WStars is the same of SStars, but applied for Wild.
For this calculation, the base number of Dust and Stars will be, respectively, 75 and 5 for the Legend Rank. But if a player
has no lifereach Legend in both Standard and Wild, he/she will receive a random Golden Legendary card instead of arcane dust.Golden cards awarded in ranked rewards can be from any set, even adventures.
This table shows how this system would work. Player A reached rank 2, 3 stars in Standard, and rank 5, 5 stars in Wild. Player B played
1 billiona lot of games andpraying to RNGsussomehow, managed to reach legend in both Standard and Wild.Achievements. Why not?
C'mon, Blizzard, even I can do that!
Well... I think that's it. What do you think about this system? Is it too much? I really think this system would improve a lot the f2p experience of the game. If I see some of these things in the upcoming Storm next week, I'll be very happy.
If you
like to waste timeread everything, thank you!9
A new and improved economy system.
A new game mode (Tournament Mode or Faction Wars Mode);
Achievements;
Guilds! It would be amazing to have a guild system;
Arena deserves more love. Unreleased cards should be tested before the expansion drops out, so offenders like Twin Tyrant get a proper balance. Also, the rewards for the Arena should be revamped;
An Outworld themed expansion.
