They are not poorly drawn they just look like low level characters, because that's the point, this expansion's art is great and most cards are looking very good and detailed.
Every expansion there is someone saying the art is getting worse because they don't like the style or because of one particular cards that looks meh, but the technique is not getting worse and they don't know shit about technique anyway.
"barrens is such a rich area with cool views" did you even play world of warcraft or what ?
barrens is a hot and empty desert, and characters wear shit clothes and armors, there are beasts and quillboars everywhere and this expansion is totally taking advantage of that.
Do you even know how to draw ? I find it funny how some people critisize art style and claim it's "average" or "butchered" but their eye couldn't tell the difference between 2 artists
Overall Blizzard artists are extremely talented, and non-artist people shouldn't ever have the right to critizise art, because they can't understand what's behind it and can't be constructive about the critisism, all they see is "oh that's pretty, great artist" and "oh that's not pretty, shit artist".
Can you actually name cards from the barrens that you consider poorly drawn and tell us why precisely? It doesn't make much sense to critisize an entire expansion's art, be specific
you don't need to be a chef to know if something tastes bad and you don't need to be a screenwriter or director or actor to know if a movie or a performance sucks.
I understand the theme aspect and maybe they did nail it (never played WoW) but that doesn't make the art successful or appealing. If your favorite Indie band set out to make a jazz record or an industrial experimental noise record and its not good, would you say "well it's on theme!" or "well they succeeded in doing what they were trying to do!" even though it wasn't interesting or enjoyable or had no merit otherwise?
All that said, after more reveals there are more cards I've seen that I like. But there was another post earlier that pointed out that the art has been going in this direction for a little while as well, and I agree with that. More cartoonish.
I really like this card, great art, different effect and buff than Pally usually gets, takes some thought and strategy with what minions you play/trade on board. Not sure if this is good or will see a lot of play, but good design and fun
I agree with OP and am surprised the first two responses said otherwise. Yes Mordresh is cool, and I also like the Murloc legendary and the Warlock legendary thus far, but as a whole everything seems to lack detail, be of a weird color palette and be sort of childish(?) I'm having trouble finding the words. I actually though about making this post myself that the art is pretty lame this time around. Maybe since they had to commission a lot of Core Set cards as well that the budget was trimmed down a little. But I agree, spot on,
yeah I don't get this card. Don't you normally want taunt minions because they have taunt? and would you really put this in a deck built on taunt minions? Maybe a value deck, and I've sure there are some creative combos. Of course there is always Animated Broomstick and a couple rush + taunt minions, but outside of that idk. I genuinely hope I'm wrong though
I think Tickatus should only mill 3, it would make it more viable as an on-curve 6 drop, and also nerf it to a reasonable amount. Still be quite powerful but more balanced imo
Awesome write-up, you brought up some posibilities I hadn't thought of. I'm excited for this set and like to get people's perspectives in things like this
I'm not trying to be negative here, but I think you need more early game spells like Air Raid and Muster for Battle because this will get blown out of the water by things like Token Druid and Pirate Warrior and any of the Odd Paladin, Rogue or DH decks
I understand and I think there is some legitimacy in the Paladin outcry, but as a Paladin main too I am more excited by this expansion than most other recent ones. I thought today's reveals were meh other than Blessing of Authority. Judicious Junior may be the most uninspired card of the set, but otherwise I think it's gonna be a good set. I also play almost only Wild so I look at things from that perspective
not sure why this got downvoted, what will this be on average? a 2 mana 5/5? probably a lot better depending on the meta? idk man looks too strong to me, and I'm a Paladin main lol
I agree and I actually this the Broomstick is going to see a lot of play in Paladin especially but in all classes. It's not OP but almost universally viable

at rank two it gives 2 random minions +3 attack, at rank 3 it gives 3 random minions +3 attack. Looked at it on PC gamer's site

anything mildly negative on these posts gets down-voted, and I even tried to seriously downplay my negativity lol
