I run a version very similar to this. How has Healing Wave been in a deck running Zombie Chow and 9 2-drops? Would that slot be better as the second Feral Spirit or Mana Tide Totem ? I personally like Mana Tide Totem. Protecting it with your early minions can break the game open against slower decks in the card advantage department. I do not run the Neptulon as I don't have it and consider Thunder Bluff Valiant and Dr. Boom better 7-drops. I agree with the 1 Earth Shock. 2 feels like 1 too many in a deck not running Azure Drake. I also agree with the lack of Tuskarr Totemic. The RNG of him can make or break a game and for 3 mana he just doesn't do enough. I think he was an early inclusion because he was new and exciting but I believe it is time to move on from such a fragile guy. For anyone who hasn't played this deck, the 4 card combo of Al'Akir the Windlord Rockbiter Weapon and Doomhammer is so much fun, lethal, and comes out of nowhere.

Class_A posted a message on [S18]Legend TGT Midrange ShamanPosted in: [S18]Legend TGT Midrange ShamanThe deck is good (As Shaman decks go), but the classes weakness really shines through at higher ranks.
I got to rank 13 with the deck, no problems. After that however, my winrate sunk to less than 50%. The meta counters too much stuff than you can throw at them. Not to mention the classes lack of card draw forces you to either make really slow efficient trades to obtain full value, or to rush them down; and the deck will run out of steam at some point.
Bad matchups for me:
Dragon priest (Any priest really): Same problem with Zoo. Once you run out of steam, you're f***ed.
Any aggressive paladin deck: Secret Pali I did relatively well against (5:1), but the others I got destroyed.

At most we can hope for something like this thats a t2-t3 deck.

ThePolarpop posted a message on [S18]Legend TGT Midrange ShamanPosted in: [S18]Legend TGT Midrange ShamanNeptulon is definitely amazing in this specific shaman deck since it's not really running things like drakes so...If you main shaman he's worth it. If you play multiple classes thats down to you

ThePolarpop posted a message on [S18]Legend TGT Midrange ShamanPosted in: [S18]Legend TGT Midrange ShamanI've found (opinion/evidence) that if you don't own Neptulon (me) you need to make your midrange shaman more aggressive instead to make it work almost as well :/ Like throw back in the drakes or an ancestral knowledge or something.

sbchemist posted a message on [S18]Legend TGT Midrange ShamanPosted in: [S18]Legend TGT Midrange ShamanI've been giving this deck a go but I find that the deck REALLY stalls late game. I have all of the cards but neptulon (does the deck not work without it?). I will draw well and win games and then have a hellish run and go from rank 11 to rank 16. I find that Al'Akri doesn't change the game very much - unless a flamestrike totem is up or he's been buffed with rockbiter. In which case I have board control anyway. Maybe the random dice gods favor you?

I doesn't have Neptulon, playing Azure Drake instead. For now i don't feel like i should craft it, but i'm thinking about it. How often Neptulon can really make a game?

Lancrost posted a message on [S18]Legend TGT Midrange ShamanPosted in: [S18]Legend TGT Midrange ShamanI would go for Ragnaros, but Al'Akir is such a great finisher that you shouldn't replace him. The reason why Ragnaros is bad is because of of his RNG attack, and is much weaker against aggro decks because it doesn't save you from aggro's charge and already flooded board, where as Al'Akir can trade for multiple smaller minions. Ysera is quite slow since she only draws 1 card per turn. If she survives until your next turn, you'll probably win the match anyway.

I updated the deck description. His other miracle rogue is weak to zoolock/handlock, but strong against everything else. Heres his other miracle rogue Im talking about: http://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/108766-forsen-wca-2014-miracle-rogue

Double cone of cold looks bad, but it actually works out well in this meta. In the early game, theres a lot of 2 health creatures that can be pinged down later with heropower. And its also good for setting up a cleaner flamestrike where you cant afford to heropower the turn after.

Yeah, Kolento cut a Force of Nature for Loatheb in his tournament deck, but he runs double Force of Nature and no Loatheb for ladder.

I added his ladder variation of the deck to the description.
2
Yeah, this is still a tournament deck. Running it on ladder will requires changes unless youre extremely high in legend, as its vulnerable to aggro decks since it only has one copy of Lightning Storm and Feral Spirits.
2
Theres no reason not to run double Force of Nature if hes running double Savage Roar. The only card I wasnt completely sure of was the second Chillwind Yeti, as maybe he was running double Azure Drakes instead, but Kolento showed both Yetis in his second match.

Forsen has a new miracle rogue thats hes keeping secret for the WCA tournament in October. After its revealed, I'll update the list.

Antonidas doesnt have worth in any mage build. Too slow, and requires cheap mana spells that arent good by themselves, like mirror image and arcane missiles. If you want to go for an aggro mage, then bloodmage is important for deathrattle to buff undertaker as well as for card draw. For midrange, you want to get duplicate off on a value legendary like cairne or sylvanas. Rag is another good target. For a control mage, you want alexstraza so you can nuke your opponent, then finish them off with molten giants.
You should definitely not craft Antonidas. Taking mage to rank 5 would be such a painful grind, let alone legend. This should strictly be a pet deck you play for fun and a chance of pace. You fortunately have most of the legendaries I mentioned. Rag and Alex are great choices. Of the two, I would suggest Rag, as it can not only fit into any mage build, but its also good in druid, warrior, and priest decks.

Double counterspell is pretty much a must because of all the flares. Running one copy of duplicate is always good. The last 2-3 secrets depends on what youre trying to do. Mirror entity is great for tempo, and sometimes gives you legendaries for just 3 mana, and often free. Ice block has great synergy with ethereal arcanist, because the opponent cant trigger it right away. If theres no flare, theyre forced to kill the arcanist, and if you have duplicate out as well, thats when things get really fun. But that combo is hard to pull off, and again, theres a lot of hunters to stop you. Spellbender is also defendable since ppl might test for counterspell with coin or some other useless spell and think theyre safe, only to have a spellbender token take a hex or eviscerate.
Overall, all the mage secrets have their place, except vaporize. Its too easy to play around in constructed with all the deathrattle tokens everyone has. My recommendation is to build a secret mage deck with double counterspell, double mirror entity, and one duplicate. You can go double duplicate if you really want to as long as you include two kirin tor mages on top of mad scientists.

There should be a daily or instantly updated leaderboard for the top 100 Legend players on each server built into the Hearthstone client. Its dumb that people dont know who the top players are on each server, and have to ask streamers in chat who exactly is currently the top 16 each season. And it should include tabs for all 3 servers. You shouldnt have to log out off one server just to check if youre still top 100 in another.
Also, the top 200 legend players on each server should not fall to rank 16 with the rest of us when the season ends. They should be placed at rank 5 instead. Its not fair for them to have to grind all the way back up again. Its also a tall task to fill considering they have to make time and often travel for a lot of tournaments.
And I want mulligans to be shown simultaneously. You should only see how many cards your opponent replaced after youve already confirmed your own mulligan. Its so annoying that players are taking the full mulligan time in the hopes that you mulligan wrong. Just hide that information from players until after theyve both mulligan-ed.
