Ive been playing with a Cogmaster's Wrench instead of a second Assassin's Blade, just to get the weapon buffs out early and use them all as fast as possible. Its been working great for me. The fact that it has a 3rd charge is what makes it so good.

Edwin Van Cleef is a silence target that just ends up a 2/2. Trade Prince Gallywix is a 5/8 for 6 mana, which is already great if it was just a vanilla minion, but its ability is what makes it amazing. Because of its high health, its almost impossible for most classes to remove it without a spell. And even if your opponent gets rid of it in just 1 card, like with a hex, execute, etc., you still get a premium removal spell in return.

This legendary is what makes midrange/control rogue competitive in GvG even with the gadgetzan nerf. If you dont have it and cant craft it, you should go for an aggro rogue instead with double Jeeves.

Kolento really liked Ogre Ninja and was playing two copies, but had to cut one to make room for a second Healbot.

Can Gazlowe draw V-07-TR-0N? My guess is no, only collectible mechs, but I would like to know for sure.

posted a message on Kolento's Undertaker Shaman

Its a tournament deck precisely because you expect to ban your weakest matchup. The original deck was exceptionally weak to aggro because not only did Kolento cut a Lightning Storm and both Lightning Bolts, but also one Feral Spirits. He has added the second Feral Spirits back in, which helps a lot.

As for why people dont just run a bunch of aggro decks in tournaments, its pretty obvious. They will be easily countered by the rest of their lineup. Not only that, but aggro only works as a surprise the first time. Once it becomes clear youre running zoolock instead of handlock, people will mulligan accordingly. And even if they lose, they can follow it up with a counter. Tempo priest for example, is a good deck to fight for the board starting turn 1, especially since it runs undertakers of its own. Freeze mage is another good matchup against zoolock with all their stall cards. You can lose games and still win the match, so you can get away with playing greedy decks. You cant have that mindset on ladder if you want to climb to high legend. Aggro must always be accounted for.

Ive been playing with a different control shaman deck of Kolento's, with +2 Lightning Bolts, +1 Feral Spirits, +1 Bloodmage Thalnos and -1 Mana Tide totem, - 1 Ancestral Spirit, and -2 Undertakers. Kolento played that in the VGVN #2 tournament he won.

I think for ladder, you can cut either 2 Lightning Bolts or 1 Lightning Storm, but you cant do both like in this deck outside of tournaments.

Yeah, this is still a tournament deck. Running it on ladder will requires changes unless youre extremely high in legend, as its vulnerable to aggro decks since it only has one copy of Lightning Storm and Feral Spirits.

Thijs needed to thoughtsteal Al'Akir and Hex to even make the comeback. I dont think the outcome of the game means as much as the fact that a shaman deck was actually dominating against a priest where it normally struggles.

posted a message on Crafting Antonidas - Worth it?

Antonidas doesnt have worth in any mage build. Too slow, and requires cheap mana spells that arent good by themselves, like mirror image and arcane missiles. If you want to go for an aggro mage, then bloodmage is important for deathrattle to buff undertaker as well as for card draw. For midrange, you want to get duplicate off on a value legendary like cairne or sylvanas. Rag is another good target. For a control mage, you want alexstraza so you can nuke your opponent, then finish them off with molten giants.

You should definitely not craft Antonidas. Taking mage to rank 5 would be such a painful grind, let alone legend. This should strictly be a pet deck you play for fun and a chance of pace. You fortunately have most of the legendaries I mentioned. Rag and Alex are great choices. Of the two, I would suggest Rag, as it can not only fit into any mage build, but its also good in druid, warrior, and priest decks.

posted a message on Im looking for a crafting order for mage secret

Double counterspell is pretty much a must because of all the flares. Running one copy of duplicate is always good. The last 2-3 secrets depends on what youre trying to do. Mirror entity is great for tempo, and sometimes gives you legendaries for just 3 mana, and often free. Ice block has great synergy with ethereal arcanist, because the opponent cant trigger it right away. If theres no flare, theyre forced to kill the arcanist, and if you have duplicate out as well, thats when things get really fun. But that combo is hard to pull off, and again, theres a lot of hunters to stop you. Spellbender is also defendable since ppl might test for counterspell with coin or some other useless spell and think theyre safe, only to have a spellbender token take a hex or eviscerate.

Overall, all the mage secrets have their place, except vaporize. Its too easy to play around in constructed with all the deathrattle tokens everyone has. My recommendation is to build a secret mage deck with double counterspell, double mirror entity, and one duplicate. You can go double duplicate if you really want to as long as you include two kirin tor mages on top of mad scientists.

posted a message on "Next, We're Planning for a Larger set of Cards" - Ben Brode Interview, Deck Spotlight: Beasty Tactics, Military Quarter Guide

There should be a daily or instantly updated leaderboard for the top 100 Legend players on each server built into the Hearthstone client. Its dumb that people dont know who the top players are on each server, and have to ask streamers in chat who exactly is currently the top 16 each season. And it should include tabs for all 3 servers. You shouldnt have to log out off one server just to check if youre still top 100 in another.

Also, the top 200 legend players on each server should not fall to rank 16 with the rest of us when the season ends. They should be placed at rank 5 instead. Its not fair for them to have to grind all the way back up again. Its also a tall task to fill considering they have to make time and often travel for a lot of tournaments.

And I want mulligans to be shown simultaneously. You should only see how many cards your opponent replaced after youve already confirmed your own mulligan. Its so annoying that players are taking the full mulligan time in the hopes that you mulligan wrong. Just hide that information from players until after theyve both mulligan-ed.

posted a message on Bots - An estimate of their skill level, prevalency and what that means for Hearthstone

There is a very easy way to exploit bots. Immediately play games after each Naxx wing is opened. The bots dont know how to handle the new cards right away, and screw up big time. Its corrected soon after, but there is gap of time where you can get free wins against all the zoolock, shaman, and token druid bots.

However, the bots in of themselves cannot be exploited. They make extremely good decisions, taking into account the class matchup, the board state, and the cards in hand. Only way to win against a fully functioning bot is to make better plays and take full advantage of your draws.
