Speaking of the lesser used dragons, has anyone found a good deck list for Volcanic Drake? I was experimenting with them for a while in a variation of Primo's Frost Shaman. I can't link the thread since it was on the old Battle.net Shaman forum, but I'll post a screenshot of the original list. It wasn't too hard to get the Drakes out for free in some matchups, thanks to Elemental Destruction and Lava Shock. But at 4 health, they die so easily. Maybe there's some cool Evolve combos we can pull off, like ED, LS, Drake, Drake, Evolve. That's a clear board and two random 7 drops for 6 mana. Not bad, but that's a 5 card combo that depends on your opponent having a board worth clearing. And there are some pretty low-stat 7 drops like Rend Blackhand and Eadric the Pure. I'll test that too to see if there's any cool possibilities there.
I'm thinking 8 drops are a lot stronger with the likes of Tirion Fordring and Ragnaros the Firelord, so maybe 2 Evolves is the way to go. So many combo cards! How will I live that long?!? **brain explodes**
To protect your attackers, use 0-mana Thing from Below. It's such an old trick we use all the time.
But then why don't we work on Thing from Below and Nerubian Prophet instead?
Haven't played too much with Volcanic Drake myself.

Well that's still a lot of dragons *drool*. I totally agree with the Chromaggus value. I have tried many of the high end dragons but none beat the Chromaggus + Ancestral Knowledge combo. (Sometimes with 0 mana taunt to protect it.)

I have got the idea to put a Hungry Dragon to counter Resurrect Priest. Anyone?

Finally someone else that appreciates my giant dragon bro.
Dude that's an ambitious use of Hungry Dragon, I love it. Nothing will beat Hex at messing up Resurrect, but Hungry Dragon is more BM. It makes me think about testing MC Tech in Dragon Shaman. It would probably be a non Elemental Destrucion list. Since I'm already running Brann, Brann plus MC Tech could be devastating against Shaman and Zoo. Imagine stealing a Thing From Below?
I am hyped. Can't wait for the deck list.

    Greetings, fellow Dragon Shamans.

If you don't mind me sharing, I was involved in a recent discussion on my Dragon Shaman deck which I am actively working on, the deck is working pretty great in its current form.

I am with Revenant that we either go all out midrange, or all out control. It's because the dragon package is rather big. My preference is on the control side, looking to always keep a large hand, and make sure Healing Wave wins the joust. I don't know how your deck is evolving at the moment, but I will try to answer your questions with my approach.

The most important cards against Freeze Mages are Healing Wave and high attack minions. Our taunts like Chillmaw can soak up many fireballs, unless the opponent is willing to take some dragon punches. They don't, because that will bring them to 1 health soon. Take your initiative there. Throw in a Lightning Bolt before healing yourself if you suspect a Counterspell, which I saw in some variations.

With Priests I would mulligan hard for all kinds of removals, especially Hex. If you can kill a Frog on their side of the board, your life is much easier. AoE removals are useful after their summon cards like Barnes. They have more of these cards than our 4~5 AoE, so we may have to wait and bait them a bit. I tend to save my larger minions until they run out of cards, like only if they played both Entomb, it's time for our Sylvanas Windrunner and Chromaggus. I have Elise Starseeker for late game, so it may not work in your case.

Don't know about Hunters or Warlocks, because they are more tempo oriented than Freeze Mages and Priests. Our strategies should be a lot different for these opponents.

I don't know about your region, but the adventures and welcome bundle are sitting there in my shop interface. I am playing in TW/KR by the way.

    Welcome buddy.

Your dusts may not be enough for a deck, but at least you can buy some good classic cards that you can use in many deck.

I suggest you start out with Azure Drake, Knife Juggler and Abusive Sergeant. The last card is nerfed recently, I think you can disenchant it to get a full refund even if you don't like it. See if you can afford this: Sylvannas Windrunner or Twin Emperor Vek'lor.

+1 on the welcome bundle. You can probably start crafting with the class legendary you get.

It's not a big deal to spend a few dollars on things you enjoy, it saves you time and makes you happy. Grinding for gold with basic decks is just not fun as you said yourself.

As for the adventures, why not start with Karazhan? It is going to stay in standard for the longest. Old Gods decks works with most classes, buying some of the Old Gods packs may be a good idea.

I don't have Brann Bronzebeard currently in my setup to avoid him messing up the Healing Wave, but he is quite a standard in Dragon Priests especially with double Netherspite Historian. They are worth trying. But I will do every last thing possible to preserve Charged Hammer.

They are clearly exclusive in my opinion, so iit's fine to switch among them.

Sir Finley Mrrgglton has The Curator synergy, but Charged Hammer does better in control matchs. Also, Charged Hammer is waaay cooler.

The same goes for me: I don't have a refined deck either.

I haven't tried The Curator yet. But Finley and Scarab were in the deck, respectively. Later though, I found Charged Hammer upgrades my hero power to synergize even better with the direct damage spells to take down threats. If I have to choose between them, I don't want to take Finley.

Jeweled Scarab is very valuable in Shamans because of the overloaded 3-cost spells. But it sometimes misses and gives a shit minion. Unlike Netherspite Historian who never fails, and has slightly better stats. They are not entirely exclusive, but together they will lower Healing Wave quite a lot, and they call for Brann Bronzebeard synergy too. They sure have their own flavor, anyone interested should go try them out.

Volcanic Drake combos well with AOE and Doomsayer for some surprise kills. I really want to find a slot for them.

Translate: Dat feel when Jeweled Scarab gives you Hex... not just 1, but 2 Hexs. Have you considered Chromaggus? He works wonderfully with Ancestral Knowledge.

Thank you for trying out, I know you'll enjoy it.

I am still busy with work for now, but I am going to be tracking the win rate when I push the ladder next month.

Chromaggus works as you said: it can be played one turn after Feral Spirit, or one turn after Elemental Destruction, where you start with a Lava Shock. The even bigger reason is the draw effect, because our draw card Ancestral Knowledge and Map to the Golden Monkey both cost 2. In the late game, we usually have a turn we burn 3 to 4 spells to kill an enemy legendary, and we can refill our hand super effectively with Chromaggus.

Ysera and Nefarian was in his place before. They both work, so don't worry. One thing though: Priests used to steal my cards with whatever dirty way they have. We can burn down Chromaggus on their field more easily than a Ysera on their field. I guess that's my personal trauma more than anything.

Yes, I have been experimenting with him. The problem of Hallazeal the Ascended is that he costs quite a lot, and he gets almost killed or straight up killed after Elemental Destruction (under the influence of Spell Power). The catch of Elemental Destruction is we get locked out for 1 turn, so we really want to put some decent body on the field after the spell. In my experience, I usually play Azure Drake before or after Elemental Destruction to increase Spell Damage, and/or dig for Lava Shock. Otherwise, drop Blackwing Corruptor to finish off a high health minion or Deathrattle spawn.

I haven't tried too much with him, so I don't know maybe it could work with other spells too. He really fits the theme of ascendance though.

    Edit: Typo on Azure Drake
