Boss Overview
Nefarian is the fourth and final boss in the Hidden Laboratory wing of the Blackrock Mountain adventure. He is the final boss of the adventure.
Heroic Difficulty Strategy
If you're playing on normal difficulty, the same strategy can be applied, it's just an easier fight!
- There are three phases to this fight - Nefarian's Armor, Onyxia, and finally, Nefarian again.
- Nefarian starts on the field with 30 Armor and 30 Health.
- Once all of his armor is removed, Onyxia replaces Nefarian as the active hero. Nefarian sits in the sky and throws fire at you.
- Nefarian comes back down once Onyxia dies, with however much Health he had when he went up.
- You can cheese this fight by killing first phase Nefarian in one turn.

Just a reminder that one of the jade druid decks still works against him very easily. The Jade druid deck before Un'goro expansion hit.
Completed it today even with the Onyxia phase, just had a bunch of 20+/20+ minions on board and by the time Nefarian killed all my minions I had like 5 Jade Idol cards in hand. Hope this helps!
Hello guys!!! I passed the first time. The two main cards: http://www.hearthpwn.com/cards/22287-holy-champion and http://www.hearthpwn.com/cards/7753-deathlord.
No idea why you wouldn't use Doomsayer if you are going for the sketchy cheap-kill deck. I lost 6 times before including it and once I did I won the first time (although my draw was very good). I got a power word: shield on a turn 3 doomsayer and he threw two soulfires at my face. It was pretty smooth sailing from there. Used the same list as Checkm_8
I took out two Dark Cultists for the Doomsayers and added an Excavated Evil for the Mind Control Tech. DC don't hold the board as well as a Doomsayer can and whenever I played MCT I had already lost (though, I never played the excavated).
I hate this boss. Doesn't matter what deck I try or what I do. I can't maintain board control and his ability to wipe your board in phase 3 is total BS.
Here is a F2P deck for everyone who doesn't have any fancy Naxx'ramas cards.
This deck of basic cards can also be upgraded into a C'thun mage for rather small costs.
You cannot skip the Onyxia-phase that way, but you dont need to craft any cards for this.
Playstyle and tactics can be found in the description of the deck ;)
Priest deck still works! The trick is to only chip at his first stage ~10 armor left then go all out by buffing your taunts. Probably one of the easiest bosses I can remember. Credit goes to this deck.
Works so good
OK what is with everyone posting decks with cards that most people probably wont have?
WTF are you talking about?
Right cause I don't have the Sea Giant or the Lightwells
I built my deck close as I could to it. but hey it worked still
I was able to finish him in one turn with Priest by abusing Stoneskin Gargoyle's self-heal. He has no hard removal or silences, so if you manage to buff it with Power Word: Shield/Velen's Chosen and Divine Spirit, pump its attack via Inner Fire (can be done twice if you include two copies, just to make it easier) and give it Taunt (e.g. using Sunfury Protector), this card will become impenetrable barrier for anything he can put on board, including his hero power. At that point you just need one weak minion to waddle down his armor before making your lethal gargoyle strike.
Note that if you place gargoyle as unbuffed minion, he may decide to kill it with Soulfire, so only do this if you have two copies in hand, or plan to get second one soon.
Supportive cards includes Zombie Chow, Explosive Sheep, Holy Nova to keep early board control.

Who thought Stoneskin Gargoyle Could be useful? lol Trying this when I get home
Logged in to upvote this deck, got it first try and it was so easy that I took few extra turns before lethal with my 52-52 taunt stoneskin gargoyle
Huum your deck is affordable I might try it. That boss is seriously OP lol.
This worked great for me. It took about 10 tries but it finally worked. Thanks!
