Boss Overview
Chromaggus is the third boss in the Blackwing Lair wing of the Blackrock Mountain adventure.
Heroic Difficulty Strategy
If you're playing on normal difficulty, the same strategy can be applied, it's just an easier fight!
- Chromaggus has 60 Health on Heroic, and no armor.
- Every turn you will get one Brood Affliction card. This card gives you a negative effect.
- The first five afflictions always show up in the same order: Green, Red, Blue, Bronze, and Black.
- Afflictions after the first five are completely random.
- His Chromatic Dragonkins will grow very powerful if you play too many spells - silence is useful, but if you can get rid of them right away with a minion that is slightly preferred.
- Silence is more useful against the 8+ health Twilight Drakes he loves to drop.
- This fight is easily defeated through cheating the AI with Kel'Thuzad and a Taunt minion.
- Alexstrasza can see some potential play on this fight if you can straight up survive until she can be played.

Reward
Upon defeating Chromaggus for the first time, you will receive two copies of Hungry Dragon.
Once you have earned the regular version of Hungry Dragon, you can craft the golden version for 400 Arcane Dust.

Posted Mar 18, 2016 (Explorers)Mulligan hard for Mad Scientist and sorcerer apprentice. You will want to discard him blue and bronze afflictions as soon as possible. Be aware of your health and discard red affliction when you feel your health is too low. Stall the game with Blizzard and Flamestrike.
Emperor Thaurissan helps a lot to reduce the mana cost of afflictions and Flamewaker serves as damage.
Grated, I got lucky and manage to defeat the boss in a few tries.

Posted Dec 20, 2015 (Explorers)Late to the game here, but better late than never. Took a long hiatus from hearthstone, but I'm back and loving it more than ever.
Anyway,
This (currently) very successful deck in constructed play allowed me to beat Heroic Chromaggus quite easily. I never even saw use of the legendary cards and got him on the first try using it. Previously, I was having a lot of trouble with him with the posted druid/priest decks above.. Basically, if you get an auchenai on the board and protect it well, you will win, as the chromaggus cards that heal him begin to damage him instead. Entomb came in very handy as well when i started seeing his big dragons at turn 8+, turn 2 museum curator netted me an (extra) DeathLord, and it was all downhill for Chromaggus from there ;)
