Forged in the Barrens: Card List, Release Date, & Expansion Details
Hearthstone's 1st expansion in the Year of the Gryphon is Forged in the Barrens! The release date for the expansion was Tuesday March 30th!
Gather your gear and hold fast to your ambition, newcomer. This is the Barrens. The road before us winds through vast, sun-scorched lands, bringing danger and discovery beyond imagination’s grasp. Thorned dens of bristling quilboar, rampaging tribes of furious centaur, and treetop nests of soaring harpies separate the champions from the weak. The Barrens are the anvil upon which the Horde as we know it was founded: A literal crossroads where the tauren, trolls, and orcs came together for the first time. Heroes are made here. Perhaps you, too, shall be Forged in the Barrens.
Forged in the Barrens marks the beginning of Phase One for the Year of the Gryphon. Players can expect several major updates and balance changes. In addition we'll see new Battlegrounds cards and heroes, a Seasonal event, Duels updates, a mini-set, the addition of a Core Set, and a brand new game mode: Classic!

Kazakus, Golem Shaper
A fresh take on our old friend Kazakus. Decks built with no other 4-mana cards get to contruct their own golem.
Step One: Choose your golem's size.
Step Two: Discover an herb.
Step Three: Discover a second herb. With the exception of Gromsblood, the effects of the 2nd herb increase for each golem size.
Caravans
2-mana minions with a 1/3 statline. Each unleashes an effect at the start of your next turn.

yeah... he is a "god" because he saw image similar to Kazakus, nowadays kids are really unbearable.
You sound jealous that you didn't spot it.
will there only be those revealed neutral cards since there aren't shown any hidden cards ?
No, there will certainly be more. I have no idea why they only show the revealed ones, maybe they don't know how many will be released or they just don't want to use up so much space.
DRUID: 7 mana 7/6 Rush Beast that kills almost anything, then turns into a 6/7 Taunt.
PRIEST: Heal both players for 5
Really? This comment after releasing only one card for both classes? :D :D You are a hero dude.
holy fckn sht, so Blizzard just wont let us have any reveals huh?! wtf is this expansion?!
Why not have the Tauren skin be Cairne Bloodhoof?? More interactions with Jaina, Thrall etc etc. Than this random Tauren?
Big fail by Blizz.
You're joking right? are you even a warcraft fan? Hamuul is the Fkn ARCHDRUID of Thunder Bluff. Cairne is a WARRIOR. lmfao
They still did nothing to make the cost of buying cards cheaper and my vow last expansion after years of being ripped off was the never spend again until the cost was significantly reduced. This will be the first time I do not buy any pre-orders or buy any packs at all. Game is dead to me. Expansion looks shit anyway.
Mate we have duplicate protection now BE GRATEFUL FOR SOMETHING
Uh, okay. Let's see: They drastically increased the amount of gold/rewards you get with the implementation of the new rewards track. The new rewards track stuff was rough at first but they COMPLETELY fixed it after the backlash, and people are getting more gold than ever. And with the release of the new expansion, they're adding more stuff to it and not taking ANYTHING away from it, so it'll be even better now.
They're releasing hundreds of cards in the core set, powerful and useful cards, that EVERYONE gets to have for FREE. Which is incredible. AND the monetization of the minisets, being able to buy all 35 new cards including legendaries for 2000 gold, is more generous than ANYONE could have hoped for. They've been making leaps and bounds when it comes to the approachability of the game in general, and giving us more than they ever have by a LOT. In other words, your comment holds absolutely NO water whatsoever, and is in fact COMPLETELY disconnected from reality. The world you're living in where the game is dead and nothing is improving is a complete fantasy land. Get a grip, man.
When we can open it ?
Is there fireside gathering planned ?
Likely they'll allow for private fireside gatherings again as they did all last year, so you should be able to open packs starting around March16th-ish
Is it just me or is FRENZY a PSEUDO/Mirror Battlecry?
It's just you. Frenzy is the love child of spellburst and enrage. You don't immediately get the effect like with battlecry. You either have to be able to give the unit rush (or it has it) AND the opponent's board has to have something to trade into and live in order to activate it on the turn played or have a card in hand or mage ping to damage the unit. So very different from battlecry. Consider a card that said frenzy: draw a card compared to battlecry: draw a card. With the battlecry you could draw into that one card you need to pull off lethal. With the frenzy card, unless it has rush and there is something it can trade into while surviving or you have a way to ping it yourself you won't be able to pull of that sweet lethal that is on top of your deck.
It's not just you. A lot of keywords lately are things that could work as battlecries, but with delayed effects. Spellburst, Overkill, DEFINITELY the way Dormant was used in Ashes of Outland, etc. Depending on the situation, though, it can work better as a frenzy (or spellburst or whatever) than it would as a battlecry. Like, the "Attack a random enemy" of the Razormane Raider could be either offensive *or* defensive depending on how it's deployed, and that's a *lot* better than a card that attacks a random enemy as soon as it's played, fun as that might be for seeing if the Hunter has a freezing trap. As sirnephrosis notes, this is "the love child of spellburst and enrage", and spellburst was *also* basically "Battlecry, but with a different trigger", and Blizzard is enjoying playing in that space.
There are some one-time triggered minion effects: battlecry, spellburst, frenzy, deathrattle. All of this keywords have a lot in common, but they are different, and each of them really adds to a game.
And no, Spellburst, for instance, can not be replaced with battlecry, because battlecry does not trigger with any create/put from your deck/swap/resurrect/mind control effects, so you can not change "spellburst: draw a card" to "battlecry: when you play your next spell if this minion is alive and is not silenced - draw a card". It will not work in a lot of situations.
Maybe instead of making spellburst and frenzy it would be better to introduce some more wide keyword like "trigger". And splee burst would be "Trigger - you play a spell: draw a card". Frenzy would be "Trigger - this minion survives damage: draw a card". And it could be a plan, especially because frenzy and spellburst icons are the same.
Scenario 1: razormane raider gets played and frenzy doesnt trigger. Opponent(say mage) plays an apprentice and casts arc missiles, the result could be the razormane gets 1 ping and kills the apprentice and ruins the opponents turn.
Scenario 2: raider played and opponent(warrior) is at 1 hp and has to use skipper+armorsmith to avoid dying. Frenzy is triggered by skipper and raider kills armorsmith or hits face and prevents armor/kills the opponent
Thats the fundamental difference between battlecry and frenzy, it may be simular but the enigma it presents the opponent on their turn will be very different as it may interfere directly with his/her strategy. We cant expect keywords that will completely disrupt how the game has been played out sines release, tho despite how minor a difference it may be its still different.
Hope this helps!
Hearthstone is a much fuller experience, with a free Core set, raucous Wild, intriguing Classic, the best auto-battler (imo), Duels, Arena, and what appears to be a shot to the bow of Slay the Spire / Monster Train type games. I'm all hype for this because my love for Hearthstone used to be tied so directly to the meta, but now there is so much fun stuff to do that no one part can keep it down.
