HearthPwn: What made this expansion theme so compelling? What made it cool over other things you discussed?
Dean: The first thing we did obviously was we chose to have a new class and chose Illidan for that. So then we kind of had to do something that’s loosely related to Illidan.
In Hearthstone it’s a little bit easier to take a more broad location and take all of Outland and put a little bit of Hearthstone spin on it. It’s still Warcraft universe, still very much Outland, still going to see a lot of the places you remember if you played in the Burning Crusade expansion in World of Warcraft.

Primes:
Primes are new, special legendaries introduced in Ashes of Outland for all the original 9 Classes, but not for Demon Hunter. They all work in the same way: they have a base version, which when killed returns as a stronger version to your deck, to be drawn again and played again. The upgraded Prime minions have some spectacular effects, as you can see below:

HearthPwn: What was the Inspiration behind the Primes, the new Legendaries that you introduce with Ashes of Outland?
Dean: Primes are characters where you wonder “What would it be like if they came back?” and they come back in bigger, better, more awesome versions after they were defeated the first time.
Imprisoned Demons:
What would Outland be without some Demons? These particular Demons are called “Imprisoned Demons” because when you play them they stay dormant on the battlefield for 2 turns. During this time no one can interact with them, neither you nor your opponent.
When they finally awaken, they unleash an awesome effect. Imprisoned Demons can be tricky to play with as you will spend mana on a turn that only pays off later, but it promotes strategy and turn planning and has some amazing payoffs as you can see below:

IKR. When is rogue going get another hero?! It's the ONLY class with 2! Le sigh.
At least rogue has QUALITY.
so Primes are auto include?
u shuffle primes to deck after playing a legendary card that shuffle it so u have to get this legendary first, primes cant be played by itselfs
Uh... why?
cause the legendaries shuffle themselves and are super strong imo. autoinclude for any control deck.
Yeah but you have to draw them, then you have to play them and have them die and then you have to draw them again. They are super-slow! I'm not saying none of them will see play, maybe a couple will in super-grindy decks (much like Elise did back in the day) but they are far from an auto-include.
Goodness, all of the changes are so good, I am considering to pre-order Mega Bundle for the very first time just to appreciate Blizzard despite of my crippled financial state
The changes are good, no question. However please do yourself a favour and don't invest to much into a card game until you have sorted your finances out. Bad financial situation can easily snowball and than take decades to recover.
If the changes are as good as it seams I and many other will pre-order. You don't need to save Blizzard yourself ;).
I would never thought to have a positive reply. Thanks for your concern man, I truly appreciate it. :)
look after yourself first hun
Dormant seems... painfully slow. Of the cards already shown, they don't seem worth the mana invested and the idle turns ESPECIALLY with how fast demon hunter appears to play.
I haven't received a copy of Kael’thas Sunstrider :(
Maybe you skipped the "Here is new legendary" Announcement when you logged in? Try to search for him with name in collection. Maybe you already did then I don't know.
I received it later than most people I guess but I did get it a couple of hours after posting here. But thanks for the hint!
This game never needed another class. There is always 2-3 totally irrelevant classes due to the nature of balancing.
I thought they also revealed a Demon Hunter card that costs 9 mana Taunt, and it summons a random Demon from the deck at the end/beginning of the turn...
That card is probably from the demon hunter’s basic or standard set. This forum only showcases the new expansion cards.
Was that the 'choose one, 9/9 Taunt or 9/9 Rush', while also leaving a 9/9 Taunt on the board???
Kargath prime + sweeping strikes +30 armor :D
