HearthPwn: What made this expansion theme so compelling? What made it cool over other things you discussed?
Dean: The first thing we did obviously was we chose to have a new class and chose Illidan for that. So then we kind of had to do something that’s loosely related to Illidan.
In Hearthstone it’s a little bit easier to take a more broad location and take all of Outland and put a little bit of Hearthstone spin on it. It’s still Warcraft universe, still very much Outland, still going to see a lot of the places you remember if you played in the Burning Crusade expansion in World of Warcraft.

Demon Hunter:
Ashes of Outland saw the introduction of the 10th Class to Hearthstone: Demon Hunter. We have made a thorough breakdown of the class and it’s known cards in this separate article. Here are some cards coming with the expansion for this new class:

Primes:
Primes are new, special legendaries introduced in Ashes of Outland for all the original 9 Classes, but not for Demon Hunter. They all work in the same way: they have a base version, which when killed returns as a stronger version to your deck, to be drawn again and played again. The upgraded Prime minions have some spectacular effects, as you can see below:

HearthPwn: What was the Inspiration behind the Primes, the new Legendaries that you introduce with Ashes of Outland?
Dean: Primes are characters where you wonder “What would it be like if they came back?” and they come back in bigger, better, more awesome versions after they were defeated the first time.
Imprisoned Demons:
What would Outland be without some Demons? These particular Demons are called “Imprisoned Demons” because when you play them they stay dormant on the battlefield for 2 turns. During this time no one can interact with them, neither you nor your opponent.
When they finally awaken, they unleash an awesome effect. Imprisoned Demons can be tricky to play with as you will spend mana on a turn that only pays off later, but it promotes strategy and turn planning and has some amazing payoffs as you can see below:

Thanks. I thought so but wasn't sure. Now if only April 7 was here..... :)
Only three neutral rares? Weird
That's because this expansion has the same amount of cards that the previous expansions, but has one Class more. So are 15 Neutral cards less.
They showed the Shaman cards last for DoD and they ruled the meta.
Stop stressing about Priest. If all goes well, you Priest ferals will be getting the strong cards you wanted.
Aaaaand that didn't happened, rest in pepperoni priest
Ha I guess I was wrong.
You guys got duped.
Not seeing any of the priest cards scares me a little.
So priest has to wait until the last minute? Like for real?
Warrior/Priest waiting room
Shaman: First time?
(Late comment)
Anduin this set: "Nothing new to see here, move along."
The community has been asking for alterations to priest for a while. Blizzards response: Hey lets reprint the same mechanics on different minions.
If the rest of the set looks like this for priest, it's going to be the same posts on threads as it has been for over a year.
However, if this is the new route they are taking for the class and this an insight as to it's core mechanics, then that would be interesting to see where it leads.
Britain goes into Lockdown, I'm going into Meltdown. We Need Early Release!
Blizzard Have Mercy!
So all classes get a dormant demon?
Yep all classes get a shitty useless dormant card except Demon Hunter which has a pretty good one.
All classes except Shaman and Rogue.
That makes me uncomfortable.
Me when I see the new T1 Libram Pally deck:
The Artwork for this Set, and The DH Collection is off the charts. 10/10
Can't wait to see Golden Arts for stuff like Ysiel Windsinger, Kargath Bladefist, Evocation & so many other Epic/Legendary arts.
That's not really the point here, if all classes sucked, you could say "just don't play the game". There are people who love playing Paladin, but can't when the class sucks due to newer expansions. Besides, most free-to-play players don't get to choose what they play.
