In the Paladin Naxxramas class challenge, you will be fighting Kel'Thuzad with a pre-constructed deck of cards. This fight becomes available after defeating Kel'Thuzad from the Frostwyrm Lair on Normal Difficulty. Successfully completing the challenge will give two copies of Avenge as a reward for your efforts. The challenge must be completed using a deck that is predefined by the game. You can find more information on the Paladin Naxxramas class challenge below.
The Reward / Your Deck / Strategy / Videos
Strategy
- Your deck is loaded with Echoing Ooze, these are your primary death tool. Use your Blessing of Kings, Blessing of Might, or Shattered Sun Cleric on them to give yourself twice the value!
- Your deck has several low cost minions. Get them onto the field as soon as possible to not only get rid of KT's armor, but to make use of Divine Favor.
Your Deck
Class challenges have a specially crafted deck that you must use to complete them. This deck is temporarily given to you by the game so you do not need to own the cards to complete the challenge. Below you can find the contents of your new deck.

I can't believe it, I won.
I tried several times to beat this boss several months ago, but was frustrated at how easily I became defeated.
I read up on strategies and saw videos on how to beat this boss, and I guess it helped.
I had no idea what I was doing, since I hadn't played Hearthstone in a long time, but I beat the boss just barely.
I wish I took a screenshot. It was an ugly match, but I did it. Feeling pretty proud right now.
Trying for last 2 hours how long till I get perfect draw to win this match up ? This is frustrating....
Edit* done stupidly hard :-(
Apparently this deck was changed a long time ago. Either way, the one with Oozes, Avenges, and Blessing of Kings is the current one.
I lost 4-5 times and then eventually won once he DIDN'T have turn 1 Zombie Chow, so it is possible.
He can also coin into 2x Zombie Chow @ level 1, which is quite hard to deal with.
Recommend using Blessing of Wisdom EARLY to start drawing, KT tends to ignore your minions when they're weak anyways.
Remember that Avenge DOESN'T activate on the turn you cast it, so don't plan a suicide turn, you have to wait. In general, the more avenges you have, the worse you do.
I played aggressive early on with a vanilla Ooze and Scarlet Crusader? (3/1) to keep the board clear, then used Sword of Justice w/hero power soldiers + a new ooze to give KT something to hit. Once turn 6 came, Ooze + Blessing of Kings lets you really take control.
Just be ready once you crack is armor, he stops the turn immediately, summons 2x 3/3 taunts.
Also his deck has Twisting Nether (8 mana - Destroy all creatures) so careful about over extending late game.
Uther: "I will fight with honor."
Kel'Thuzad: "And I will fight with huge minions and devastating spells. Good luck."
Avenge if a freaking joke in this deck. Kel'Thuzad only goes for face unless you have taunts from argus.
took 4 tries, the stars aligned and i beat it.
Current decklist is missing 3 cards. Full decklist is as follows:
Minions (14)
Echoing Ooze x7
Aldor Peacekeeper x2
Defender of Argus x1
Scarlet Crusader x2
Guardian of Kings x1
Shattered Sun Cleric x1
Abilities (14)
Divine Favor x2
Avenge x5
Blessing of Wisdom x2
Blessing of Kings x4
Consecration x1
Weapons (2)
Sword of Justice x2
yep fuck this piece of shit quest. i had the bastard down to 8hp finally and top decked 4 fucking avenges in a row at the end :(
This asshole can eat a bowlful of dicks. No skill involved.
you have the wrong deck listed
That was really hard, you have to get all your luck to win with that deck, nothing about skill, took about 15 tries.
First off: WHO crafted this deck. I know it is supposed to be hard, but seriously! Kel starts off with 10 shield extra!, once we've delt with his extra protection we get cut off in the middle of our turn and he gets a free double taunt. If you are prepared for that you f***** get hit with a blizzard after he cut you off, and since close to 0! of your minions have a health over 2 without topping them... the end. Happened to me three times now. I've had him down to just one in health, and several cards ready for the one point, hit by that f'**** blizzard again. I have no problem with a challenge, but seriously: this deck is rubbish and a win is not based on skill, it is about pure luck!
This is the strategy I used:
I kept a cult master in my hand at start since you can't guarantee the Divine Favor. He also really doesn't pay much mind to 1 HP low attack minions.
First Turn: Passed 2nd Turn: Hero Power 3rd Turn: Hero Power + Leper Gnome
4th Turn: Cult Master and traded all my minions to clear as much as possible.
5th Turn: Beefed up Ooze with Argent Protector + Blessing of Might
It was rather straight forward from here. Taunting or powering up oozes was key. Saved Black Knight for Sludge Belcher.
MY STRATEGY:
This was BY FAR, the hardest challenge for me in Naxx, including the heroic bosses (even the last wing). The cards are horrible. Way too many oozes, and I believe there aren't even enough combo cards to even use each ooze with a buff if you get a perfect draw. Really ridiculous.
Though, what I found at first was that Divine Favor are only useful early. So before they become a dead card(s), USE ALL CARDS IMMEDIATELY. If you get a good draw, use all your 1, 2, and 3 mana drops early. Empty your hand fast. This way, when you get a Divine Favor, and you will, you will get value out of them.
If this goes well, you will need to pray for buffs and use them with oozes. Hope and pray you have Blood Knight to take away the shields of other cards, and hope you get a good draw and go to the face. It's a rough fight, and this is the first fight in Naxx that I felt I had no control, but just needed full mercy of the DRAW CARD GODS!!!
Horrible. Absolutely horrible.
It's 2 Favors, and if you don't have ooze and kings on turn 6 you will have a hard time. But since all puzzles can be found online within a day, I guess hard=draw luck is the basic formula for Solo content.
This is seriously the worst battle in all of Naxx. The deck that Blizzard gave us is a VERY bad version of a shockadin except there are too many oozes which make the deck combo dependent. You can't play an ooze without a buff in this match because it doesn't do enough damage with 1 attack and it gets killed by KT the next turn anyway. Overall, I have been very impressed with Naxx as a whole but this match up is just poorly designed. Put a little more thought into the deck list next time blizz.
Thanks for giving me this shitty fucking deck to work with blizzard I appreciate it. Thanks for all the heals too. And lack of strong minions so I can't push him to phase two quickly THANKS.
Yeah, the deck listing is all wrong.
.
There definitely is.
