New Keyword: Recruit
Cards with the Recruit keyword immediately summon minions from your deck and put them into play. Some cards recruit minions that match certain conditions; others recruit randomly chosen minions.
Spellstones
Spellstones are a new type of card which can be upgraded during play! Once you fulfill a listed condition, such as playing two Elemental minions, the card upgrades into a more powerful version.
Unidentified Items
Unidentified Items are cards which when put into your deck don't have a predetermined effect. When the card is put into your hand, the effect of the card will become known. Each item has its own pool of effects that it can randomly choose from.

Im most excited for a new warlock deck , the no minions hunter deck and my god that dragon priest!!!!!
If I get Rhok'delar this will happen:
1. Cry in corner, losing my will to live.
2. "fuck it!" I say, reject my humanity and embrace insanity.
3. Craft or get two To My Side!s
4. Build a Deck with no minions.
5. Enter ranked play and never use other deck again.
6. stay forever rank 20-25, lose my job, my family, everything and watch as my life wastes away until the end.
7. I embrace sweet taste of death, and say hello to Lucifer as I decent into hell, where I'm made to play Rhok'delar deck for eternity.
Sounds accurate.
Am I the only one disappointed that they did not add at least add 1 Discover or Inspire card? I know inspire is dead, but would it kill them to add atleast 1 card instead of these useless fillers like dragonhatcher or silver vanguard? And discover is my favorite mechanic in the whole game so that really stings. Not to mention they didnt even add an adapt card. Im glad they gave us more elementals, dragons, and even a mech (though terrible) to play with. I just wish they did the same for keywords...
*EDIT* Srry I forgot about Runescaper. That card is so bad i forgot it existed in this set...still fun to play with though .3.
I'm calling it now, Dragonhatcher is gonna be nuts and literally everyone and their mother is sleeping on it. Just you watch.
good one, but tbh probably my favourite card art from the set... Dragonhatcher
With Feral Gibberer close in second place
Kathrena looks so cool
plot of this expansion: RNG, MEME decks and + PRIEST
That is the plot of every expansion though. Isn't it?
Mostly... Before TGT, Priest was crap.
what is deadline for pre-order in EU?? I still can't decide.
Rough estimate when the set arrives in EU is late Friday night or Saturday morning. I recommend you make your decision on Thursday or early Friday :)
I stand corrected. as i posted this, later blizzard patched hearthstone and informed that last chance to buy it is 6th of December, aka today.
oops.
the most random expansion ever, this will be very hard to play on non-cancer decks, but "Random it's funny thing", as we know...
There's actually a ton of non-random effects in this set. There's barely any random effects at all in the neutral cards, actually, which is more significant because every class uses them. This set doesn't even have any pack filler, the commons and neutrals all look interesting, and conceivably useful in some kind of deck. This is one of the most promising expansions HS has ever gotten.
i mean there are "random" effects, but it's not "cast a random shaman spell, targets chosen randomly", it's "cast a random spell in your deck, targets chosen randomly". the "in your deck" text is important, because it means you can influence the kinds of cards The Runespear can cast. if you have a midrange deck that controls the board early with spells and then plays Guild Recruiter and Flamewreathed Faceless on turn 5 for a huge board swing, that's not random, that's intended. there's a difference between all but guaranteeing an interaction between two cards to the best of your abilities and playing Tortollan Primalist, though i wouldn't really consider that card random either as it's used like "discover a random board clear then cast it". big priest doesn't care which card they get from Shadow Essence (Barnes is the only low roll and it's a 1-of) and that card is pretty much a recruit card that summons a copy of their minion rather than the actual minion. the point of recruit isn't to shove a bunch of 4 mana minions in with Guild Recruiter, it's to shove 1 or 2 4 mana minions in and find a way to build a deck without 1,2 or 3 drops, though you could probably get away with 1 overstatted 3 drop as well anyways. recruit is not in any sense random unless you just shove it in an existing deck and pray every time to play the effect.
With the full set reveal, here's my quick list of best cards (in no particular order).
Top- 5 Legendary
Kathrena Winterwisp - Queen of mid-range hunter.
Aluneth - 1 proc = fair. 2 procs = busted. 3 procs = your opponent's dead.
Sonya Shadowdancer - Value, trickery, combo-enabler, friend to Edwin.
Kingsbane - "Rogue hero power should count for combo." Now it does. Busted early game. Always a combo-enabler. Run two deadly poisons, and consistently draw a 1-mana 3/3 weapon.
Zola the Gorgon - Very consistent value card. Low-mana cost makes it relevant in every non-aggro decktype, not just combo.
Top-5 Epic
Call to Arms - Psychic Scream - Twilight Acolyte - Carnivorous Cube - Arcane Tyrant
Top-5 Rare
Lesser Ruby Spellstone - Duskbreaker - Twilight's Call - Elven Minstrel - Kobold Monk
Top-10 Common
Cave Hydra - Candleshot - Arcane Artificer - Potion of Heroism - Cavern Shinyfinder - Healing Rain - Vulgar Homunculus - Kobold Librarian - Dragonslayer - Fungal Enchanter
I like that this expansion breathed some life to dead quest deccks. Particularly paladin(that legend and buff), priest(Twilight's Call, warrior(Master Oakheart), warlock (Cataclysm, and maybe druid and rogue
Cool cards, but I'm more excited to play dungeon runs honestly =)
Guys, i was thinking. A lot of ppl now complaining about evolve nerf. I was also did it somewhere in the forum. But lets take a look at a big picture. Lets take for example our beloved 8-drop:
Awful: Anomalus, Geosculptor Yip, Grand Archivist, Grizzled Guardian, King Togwaggle, Tortollan Primalist (6 cards)
Bad: Kalimos, Primal Lord, Kathrena Winterwisp, Marin the Fox, Medivh, the Guardian, The Boogeymonster, (5 cards)
Ok: Doomcaller, Eldritch Horror, Giant Sand Worm, Gruul, Ironbark Protector(taunt), Primordial Drake (taunt), Rotface(situational), Sindragosa, Violet Wurm (9 cards)
Good: Al'Akir the Windlord(taunt), Charged Devilsaur, Grommash Hellscream, Ragnaros, Lightlord(heal), The Lich King(taunt), Tirion Fordring(taunt), (6 cards)
I didnt take wild coz lazy. Whatever, here we have 6 awful cards and 6 very good cards, 5 bad cards and 9 fair cards (ok stats or good taunt as Primordial Drake). And im not sure where i suppose to put Violet Wurm coz after it dies it leaves some minions that can be useful with bloodlust
In this expantion we've got 4 awful cards, 1 bad and 1 fair card. But 8-mana drop is still good. I mean, it not so good as before, but before we always wanted to evolve to 8-drop coz it was the most powerful. Maybe now it just become more balanced?
Lets take a look at the worst drop, 7-mana minions:
Awful: Giant Anaconda, Lynessa Sunsorrow, Silver Vanguard, Stone Sentinel, The Curator(but taunt), Twin Emperor Vek'lor(again, taunt), 6 cards
Bad: Ancient of War, Abyssal Enforcer, Ancient Shieldbearer, Ancient of Lore, Archbishop Benedictus, Baron Geddon (sometimes good, but still rarely), Blazecaller, Bonemare, Cho'gall, Core Hound (you dont want 5-health usually), Corridor Creeper, Don Han'Cho, Grimestreet Protector(taunt), Grotesque Dragonhawk, Guardian of Kings, Inkmaster Solia, Jade Chieftain, Malkorok, Temporus, Volcanosaur 20 cards
Ok: Abominable Bowman (not sure if its not bad, but stats are not terrible and you could lose some beasts before due to some evolves), Bog Creeper(taunt), Hogger, Doom of Elwynn, Ravenholdt Assassin, Sated Threshadon, Stormwatcher, War Golem(at least fair) 7 cards
Good: Archmage Antonidas, Prophet Velen, Stormwind Champion, Swamp King Dred, Tar Lord (taunt, it definitely survive so you can evolve it to 8-drop) 5 cards
So here we have worse. 6 awful, 5 good (and not so good really if you think about it), 7 fair and 20 bad. In new expansion we've got 2 awful and 2 bad cards in the worst (generally) spot. So if they would add some trash common 7-mana cards that never would be played line 7-mana 7-8 'Coboltus executus' and 7-mana 4-10 taunt (whatever, something) and maybe some really good drop like 7-mana 9-9 with overload 2 i would consider its fair. But they didnt.
On the other hand, they added some good drops, like Greedy Sprite (theoretically its good, but usually evolve time begins after you have 10 mana already), Ironwood Golem(tount and a lot of health), Cave Hydra(can be useful, i guess), Crystal Lion (i guess its ok to evolve dopplegangster into this), Kobold Illusionist, Voidlord, Rin, the First Disciple(lol, why not), Vulgar Homunculus(totem into this is pretty good), Kobold Barbarian, Gemstudded Golem(massive taunt), Hungry Ettin (the dream), Kobold Monk, Gravelsnout Knight, Sleepy Dragon, Cursed Disciple, Hoarding Dragon, Stoneskin Basilisk, Plated Beetle.
So i donno. I guess evolve will be still viable especially with that new spell
