I'm not a ladder player but I've seen a couple of streamers have some fun at higher rank with Discolock (no idea if they used it to get there or were having fun with it once there). Kibbler had a pretty cool control Warlock that ran the quest and a few discard effects (Librarian, Soulfire and Felhound) with Deathwing as the set up pre-portal turn. Still a few Warlock cards left, who knows what they could be. Not only that, the set doesn't exist in a vacuum - next expansion may bring even better tools a la Karazhan!
I agree, but its one effect off from viable. What if you could play a card, and while its on the board, you can choose what card you discard. That would probably be OP, but thats what QuestLock needs.
Not OP. Honestly, its what the effect should be. Controlled discard is the only way discard warlock will ever be able to be a tier 1 deck. It is a major flaw in the game's design that discard is random, and it keeps the effect from being useful. Basically every other big card game has non RNG discard, and those games' discard effects are fun and interesting to play with. What Hearthstone lacks (and is possibly afraid of) is a higher skill cap mechanic, where discarding the ideal card may not always be apparent but discarding the best thing and an okay thing may not only decide games, but also separate the good players from the great players. Changing this key mechanic of the game for warlock would possibly be one of the best changes Blizzard could make mechanically, in my opinion, and would allow them to honestly have an even more open design space where players get to build discard decks that are full of meaningful decisions and allow them to push that mechanic without people groaning and ignoring it.
Sorry, that went way off topic, but, tl;dr is I don't think controlled discard would be OP, but very healthy for the game as a whole.
It would also require a drastic re-balancing of every discard card printed; I personally don't want to live in a world where Discolock could Soulfire you in the face and drop a Silverware Golem on T1, and I'm sure most other people wouldn't either.
That's 4 damage and a 3/3 for 1 mana, btw.
I hope that druid will get more "Choose one (Secretly)" cards. This mechanic seems really fun and brings some more strategic gameplay elements into the game.
Definitely! Super cool mechanic
If priest ever becomes an issue, quest mage will be there to clean it up.
sure c:
Eater of Secrets
Can't wait to play kazakus-raza with the new anduin. Not to mention Eternal Servitude looks cool too
Wont that rotate out? Besides, priest rarely gets to the position to pop the block anyways.
Huh, I'm getting the impression the warrior hero power is going to be related to "deal 1 damage", as a way to activate all those new cards. Maybe a 0 or 1 mana hero power that does inner rage?
Guys, I'd like to have an advice to understand what to do next... I must admit that, despite my expectations, this expansion is not satisfying me so much this far. By this, I mean that the average interest I have for the cards revealed is pretty low, since I find them pretty boring, exept some cool mechanics like the ones of Roll the Bones, Treachery, or Mountainfire Armor.
In addition to this, I'm still missing a nice amount of cool epic and legendary cards of Un'Goro, like Kalimos, Primal Lord, Elise the Trailblazer, Lyra the Sunshard, Vilespine Slayer, Shadow Visions, and some mission cards other the ones of Mage and Priest (that I already have) that I'd like to have.
I know that some of the new cards will change the meta for sure, but my first goal is always to enjoy this game, so how do you honestly think I should invest my golds? Thank you for any advice
It's pretty unlikely you'll happen to open those exact cards. You'll have to craft them most likely, especially the epics.
Btw, kalimos is kinda fun, but elemental shaman isn't. The whole "did you play an elemental last turn?" is pretty stiff, sort of an overload 2.0, imo.
Play arena - it's the only investment that can prove itself worthy with time. And of course, it will be silly if you will collect those missing cards from Ungoro and only 5-7 cards from KoFT. So in two months after release you will be in same spot - missing 20-50 cards from KoFT and wondering how to invest gold regarding upcoming expansion.
Advice is simple: save your money until KoFT release and play arena - this will give you stable income of new cards (at least commons and rares, +some epics), and you will be able to pile dust for the cards you want to play (if you will be still want to play Kalimos and other stuff from Ungoro).
Are the hero cards playable in arena? I hope not.
By the way there are lots of amazing cards!
That is going to be nonsense. They power level far beyond the other legendarys. Draft to win, no need to play time it is.
We have seen all priest cards and all mage cards and most hunter cards. I guess Kripp's card is the "Best res target."
between a death knight shawmen with totally unrelated abillities, a freeze themed legendary with no ice abillities in wow, Rotface and the spider haveing effects totally unrelated to their flavour, I'm begaining to think they don't give a crap about the cards flavour.
Taunt Druid to the win! you can play... idk... ancient of war!! 2 times! who cares you will die turn 5 to pirate warrior? it's 100% ok...
