Boss Overview
Big Bad Wolf is the second boss in The Opera wing of the One Night in Karazhan adventure.
Pro Tips and Strategy
- Big Bad Wolf begins with 20 Health and 15 Armor.
- The board will initially contain 3 enemy Kindly Grandmother. Silence here can be helpful, just make sure you can kill the spawned minions off asap to prevent yourself from taking critical amounts of damage.
- His passive hero power forces all minions to cost 1 mana and your minions which are summoned will only have 1/1 stats.
- Due the hero power, minions which generate tokens that can flood the board become very valuable.
- Cards which buff your 1/1 minions can help you get more valuable trades. Think Blessing of Kings.
- Be wary of Swipe, it can ruin your hopes and dreams.
- Steward of Darkshire makes this fight hilarious for Paladins. Shields for everyone!
- Kel'Thuzad can provide infinite value. Bosses don't attack minions until Kel'Thuzad is killed so buffing him and keeping him behind a taunt minion makes life easy.
- Flamewreathed Faceless - The 1 mana 7/7.
- Abomination has been suggested as a great way to clear out the Big Bad Wolf.
- Explosive Sheep also has the same effect if you want to give yourself better chances of drawing into the AoE effect but do keep in mind you need to kill it yourself as it doesn't have taunt.
- C'Thun can be fun during this fight. He will spawn with his actual stats and can provide some nice clear.
- Twin Emperor Vek'lor will spawn his brother with his full stats. The value!

Literally just Carnivorous Cubed Tirion and won on the first try in heroic.
So many high cost decks...
Is this fight even possible on heroic with a relatively cheap deck?
While my deck has 7 epic and legendary cards, 4 of them can be had for "free" from the adventures and the other three can be replaced if you don't have them. In fact, in total 12 cards in the deck are from adventures and of the rest, 9 are common cards from different expansions, so if you've played all adventures you should have a large part of the deck already.
Good luck! Strategy tips are in the write-up.
Made this deck from cards I had in my collection; a lot are from the Kobolds expansion. Very easy to win with this against the Big Bad Wolf. Haven't tried yet on Heroic.
This worked for me on the first try, even without drawing any of the legendary minions, so they can replaced:
Read the deck write-up for strategy tips.
awesome combo for heroic:
Blood of The Ancient One
2 mana 30/30 You can put 2x Faceless Manipulator for high chances this combo early on + Defender of Argus easy win
I'm not sure why Hogger, Doom of Elwynn is here. When he's 1/1 he could summon only 1 Gnoll . In my opinion regular Hogger is a bit better.
Put in a sneed's, hogger original, and kel thuzad
Sneed --> Hogger --> Kel = Game over
Starting hand always pull for wobbling runts to help control board
Easy with:
Kel'Thuzad Moat Lurker Sludge Belcher Baron Rivendare combo
he wont attack if leave space to summon more Sludge Belcher
Used Hunter for it
I had the combo and he just used On the Hunt on Kel'Thuzad..
EDIT: He stopped attacking lol
Anub'arak Infinite Value
Blood of the ancient one + faceless manipulator with any class, i beat this boss on my 3rd turn. 1 hit ko.
Couldn't stop laughing. Varian turn one GG.
Anyone have a good heroic list for this guy that doesn't include wild cards? Not all of us have been playing that long! :)
I got it first try with this deck. Mulligan for Lightning Storm
Won Heroic using Kel'Thuzad.
When your minions re-summon they go back to normal stats.
Hey, you want to win against the Heroic Wolf and you dont' have many Legendaries ? Just take our friend Moat Lurker and something big.
