Boss Overview
Skelesaurus Hex is the first boss in the Hall of Explorers wing of the The League of Explorers adventure.
This fight is a bit of a mystery. All we can assume is that it was a dinosaur at one point. Oh, and randomness. Lot's of randomness.
- Normal Hero Power: Ancient Power
- Heroic Hero Power: Ancient Power
Pro Tips and Strategy
- RNG Warning! His hero power is a 0 mana cost better version of Unstable Portal. Sometimes there's just nothing you can do about it.
- His deck is primarily beast minions, and he can summon quite a few of them. Control the board as best you can before going face.
- There's an interesting glitch which seems to occur quite often with Mage. Animated Armor sometimes isn't targeted by Skelesaurus when it's in play. Pair with Kel'Thuzad to secure its board position.

Twice, Crush is negating the Animated Armor power on the turn he is summoned.
Does Blizzard know that? Gotta report it!
It was easy, he plays a lot of secrets so I made myself an hybrid aggro, control secret hunter with the Camel, Secret Keeper, Kezan and Flare. Won on Heroic on second try, It is way to RNG dependand.
Deck list for testing, or it didn't happen bruh.
Dude I didnt save it, if memory serves me right, Desert Camel, Secret Keeper, Kezan, Flare, hunters mark, deadly shot, double big game hunter, Unleash the hounds, Lepper Gnome, Abusive Sargeant, two Irobeak Owls, animal companion, dreadscale and kill comand.
I pretty sure its not the best deck, but I can only show proof that Ive beat it on heroic.
Note: This is a challenge deck built for someone who's already beat heroic bosses, knows the strategy pretty well or wants some extra fun. It works very inconsistently and one successful attempt will be well enough after a lot of failures. If you have limited card collection, hope this can help you with your deck-building to defeat him!
Thank you all for the support, we finally conclude the whole 0-dust heroic LoE challenge with the most frustrating fight ever. It took me dozens of trials, but a win is a win! Please refer to the decklist page for detailed strategy.
Make full use of this new bug featuring Animated Armor. It seems like Rex will hit face no matter if Animated Armor is on board. Therefore you need to play in a very smart way, solving the puzzle of its hunter secrets (for example, when to use hero power to triggerDart Trap, trigger Bear Trap before Frost Nova or Flamestrike, useArcane Explosion after triggering Snake Trap or freeze them making Rex unable to play more minions.) Use Flamewaker for tempo board control or calculating minions' health for Frost Nova+ Flamestrike to clear board. You need to play until Rex has no choice but to use Tail Swipe on that Animated Armor, and triggering your Duplicate for more protection.
If you can remove his big minions like Gahz'rilla, King Krush or summoned minions without using Polymorphs, save them for Savannah Highmane or sticky minions buffed with Ancestral Spirit.
The best way to open the game is to play the sole Mad Scientist on turn 2, trade in for or play the secret on turn 3, then Animated Armor turn 4. Be careful using other cards especially Mirror Image not screwing your plan over. Hope you defeat it without struggle. Good luck! Card change will occur anytime.
3 games so far with the mage deck. 1st game he drops doomsayer into my mirror entity, 2nd game he creates assasinate with his hero power and 3rd game he creates mass dispel, what a clown fiesta.
i have the worst rng ever
Most frustrating boss to loose to...
I'm having trouble beating NORMAL Skelesaurus rex (5 failed attempts so far). He keeps giving me one or two mana cards and he drops at least a six mana minion every turn for free. Is this supposed to happen? I'm just going to try out the heroic deck on him.
I had the same problem, my strategy was simple, if in the first turn he gives me a crappy minion or a spell and he summons a 5+ minion, I just concide and restarted the game until I got the upper hand on turn 1, tempo en the first card played determines who is going to win.
Got it second attempt
I will say the next game after Jaraxxus turn one, my opponent goes 1st turn Astral Communion. That worked...
Worked perfect 1st try.. Did exactly what you said.. Thanks man!
If you have an Animated Armor on the battlefield, the AI will not attack the Animated Armor with minions, so you will only take 1 damage per minion he attacks with. I beat him on heroic my second try with this deck. Strategy is to keep Animated Armor in play, freeze everything you can, and attack his face.
The Ai will tailswipe it... and you loose... only way to win with this deck i fucking awsome rng
AI had Dr. Boom on turn two....
Well, I've already played a game where he went Turn 1 Jaraxxus. Good times.
The same thing just happened to me, but I was able to beat him first try with this deck.
Just did it in one try with this deck cept with no doomsayers, 2 antique healbots and 2 pyroblasts.
