Boss Overview
Arch-Thief Rafaam is the third boss in the Hall of Explorers wing of the The League of Explorers adventure.
That jerk who's been taunting us this whole time? That's this dude. He has a hero power which works just like Unstable Portal, costing the same 2 mana on Normal, or 0 on Heroic. His special card, Boneraptor, steals your weapon.
Hilariously, if you read into the dialog for this fight in the client.. he appears to steal your deck. Time to build the shittiest deck ever?
Dialog Lines:
- I like your deck. I think I will take it!
- Oh yes this hand of cards is incredible!
- Is this deck ALL golden? Your collection rivals my own!
- Magma Rager? Why would you play this card?
- Perhaps I have made a mistake taking your deck.
- Your deck is amazing! Ahahahaha!
- Your deck is garbage, time to use my own.
Cards related to this encounter:
- Normal Hero Power: Unstable Portal
- Normal: Boneraptor
- Heroic Hero Power: Unstable Portal
- Heroic: Boneraptor
Pro Tips and Strategy
- Rafaam steals your deck! Play something crappy! The deck you get from Elise has a Rare Spear, so give him tons of rare cards!

This boss is the proof that unstable portal is a BS card and I think Blizzard knows it.
This is a challenge deck built for someone who's already beat heroic bosses, knows the strategy pretty well or wants some extra fun. It works very inconsistently and one successful attempt will be well enough after a lot of failures. If you have limited card collection, hope this can help you with your deck-building to defeat him! Total attempts: 3
You need to balance this deck with rare cards that are not powerful so that when he plays them, your weapon will get buffed while you won't feel too much board pressure. Naga Sea Witch's effect comes before his hero power which means if he summons a 6-drop, normally costs 3 mana, the card will now cost 2 instead of 5. The inclusion of this card is for those low-cost cards in hand, and you'll need a lot of luck to avoid him summoning 6-mana or higher to get extra value from it. Rafaam will not play Sir Finley Mrrgglton and will save it as the only card in his hand. That's when you use Mind Vision to get it when in mid or late game, discover another hero power and react to his play.
Awesome.
I considered constructing premade decks for people who think the adventure is too easy and this looks pretty cool.
One turn off beating this fuck and he gets deathwing...
If you add magma rager to your deck and he plays it, he asks you why you have magma rager in your deck.
Rare Spear MVP!
Just hold onto a Harrison Jones for when he steals it!
I wanna see the decks for this boss, because you're essentially trying to make the worst possible deck :P
There is two rafaam? Did he escape the first time? Im exited to see :)
He more than likely fought without his special staff the first time, then when he was defeated he was like "BEHOLD THE POWER OF THE STAFF" and transforms into like this super hard guy with super OP cards. thats my guess.
Just like nefarian in BRM, there is 2 nefarian battles
Get a clue as to why people are quiet about this fourth wing..... Come on now a smart person would of figured out oh well
why don't you figure it out yourself? lol
Lol he must be a priest!
Somehow when thinking about a thief "final boss." It makes me to think someone who would use cards from your deck like a scum bag.
We can already do that.
With the Sideshow Spelleater you can't copy the boss hero power
sadly yes, can still be played in ranked though :D (kinda)
You are right, unfortunately, i've tried to cheeze the Emperor Thaurisan boss fight this way once...:)
i used this deck and lost 8 games in a row LOL
Try playing a different deck if you aren't... waiiiiiiit.
Yo!
