Is it safe to invest in one tier 1 deck? I’ve been playing since KotFT and I don’t have many staple cards. Any chances that the deck will become outdated and not viable on ladder? I know some examples in standard (even Paladin), but Wild is like more reliable, isn’t it? At the moment looking at renolock.
I’m mtg modern player and from my experience top tier decks rarely become weaker and most of them can deal with significant nerfs due to the large card pool.
If imagine renolock will be a safe craft since it can only really get better. However it is ruinously expensive to make the perfect renolock deck, if you've only been playing since kft then you may have issues getting the important epics and legendaries.
I've been playing renolock in wild since it went wild and I have been consistently getting to rank 4 the past few seasons. If you don't have the cards to play it yet (it can be expensive with Renolock because of all of the legendaries), I recommend borrowing someone's deck through a duel to try out some matches. Renolock games are a lot longer than usual as well, so if you like quick wins, don't invest 11k dust into something you're going to get bored with. If you like a challenge and putting together skillful plays, Renolock is one of those timeless decks that still works years later.
No decks are eternal. However Wild is much, much cheaper than Standard unless you are only thinking short-term. Like 2 years ish. Beyond that then Wild becomes cheaper because most of your cards will still be viable even when rotations happen.
Renolock is quite fun. It is a myth made by stupid people that the Reno-styled decks only grow stronger and stronger so don’t trust them. They only argue half the arguments and thus arrive at a wrong conclusion from confirmation bias. However I would still choose Renolock if I were you.
Why Glinda if you aren't running Molten Giant, Gnomeferatu plays?, glinda kind of makes no sense in that build
Tangent aside: it's the same in hearthstone wild as mtg modern, strong decks rarely get weaker and usually get stronger, sometimes they release something that allows for a deck to be born and keep up with strong decks becase it gets sinergies with cards from the past, (star aligner druid is a semi decent example, mostly because it's an aviannakun druid which actually lets you run whatever, and emch bomb hunter is a better example because explodinator and metaltooth leaper happen to be a really good combination of cards), like those cheap Eldrazis they released in mtg like 3 years ago, you know the 2 mana colorless ones that were dead easy to turbo.
I am sure Even Shaman is here to stay, it has been one of the most dominant decks since Witchwood and still have gone under the hate radar of most people.
I would recommend you to stay away from Druids and Big Priest because the former is screeching "please nerf me" for quite some time now, either it will go obsolete or Blizzard will nerf it. Big Priest on the other hand is a big salt mine, people hate losing to it due to multiple swing turns and heavy RNG involved in that deck. So I don't think Blizzard is going to print more resurrect effect cards for Priest, hence Big Priest is likely to go out of meta in few expansions due to natural powercreep.
It is relatively safe to craft a Tier 1 wild deck. The matchups are pretty polarizing in wild though - and the power level is pretty insane. Not necessarily because of broken cards (although there are some), but the synergies are bonkers.
Face Hunter will always be an eternal deck, cheap too.
Don't listen to him! The only viable aggro hunter in Wild is a Boomsday mech deck mixing in GvG cards. I guess an oldschool hybrid hunter can do ok, but newer hunter archetypes are just better.
The earlygame of tempo decks, taunts of midrange decks and lifegain of control decks have made pure face decks have a very hard time!

No deck sticks around forever. Just look at tier 1 decks of the past: secret paladin, C'thun decks, handlock, N'zoth paladin. None of these ever got nerfed but they still phased out of wild anyways because of powercreep. Plenty of lower tier decks like echo mage and attrition priest are in the same boat too
To put in another way, there can only be a couple tier 1 wild decks at any given time period but the list of tier 1 decks that has ever been in existence is always growing. For every odd paladin, there's 10 more decks that got nerfed or powercreeped out of existance
I'm sure Blizzard will think of something that pushes even shaman, renolock and co out someday. IMO Renolock is already extremely overrated. My renolock opponents never seem to win no matter what I'm playing and I play a huge range of decks at high ranks
Honestly wild is so much cheaper. The meta doens't change much expansion to expansion so you only have to craft the meta card pool and you can play pretty much anything for as long as you want. Odd pally is pretty cheap and really deosn't change much.

Really, C’thun decks were tier 1? And what happened to them? Just outclassed?
Ok, I decided to invest in Wild and purchased League of Explorers. Looks like other Adventures doesn’t have enough viable legendaries to invest (I already had Karazhan when it was in standard).
Also decided not to purchase old packs, looks like it is better to craft required legendaries and epics for dust received from newer expansions.
Build around decks should stay there for a very long time. So that means Reno decks, Odd and Even decks and then Combo decks. These 3 build around strategies will be there for a long time.

Renolock is most deverse deck in game....so many versions out there...best deck for me...i just love that risky playstyle.
This is mine version.
Not the cheapest deck.
And what are other eternal decks? Big priest? Jade Druid?
Nerfs and powercreep has made the decks less eternal than I expected. I think old Pirate warrior was pretty close.
Nowdays, I think even shaman odd paladin and odd rogue will last a long time, and the druids will get nerfed.

But still tier 1 deck in wild :) haha lowest it was tier 3 i think. But only for few months.. But always tier 1 or 2 :P

That being said, everyone will have an opinion on which deck to craft, but the data doesn't lie: https://www.vicioussyndicate.com/wild-vs-data-reaper-report-11/
Pre-Boomsday Tier 1 Wild Decks: Odd Rogue, Odd Paladin, Even Shaman, Jade Druid, Big Priest, Burn Mage
Renolock is Tier 2 because it auto loses to Exodia Mage, Kingbane Rogue, Big Priest, and Cube Lock - among other control decks.
Also worth noting is an influx of ridiculous combo druids in wild brought on by Juicy Psychmelon.
Best of luck!

If you build your Renolock correct how do you manage to lose to Exodia or Cubelock?
You should fairly easy burn their cards before they combo.
