what are the absolute necessary legendaries needed to properly run a good control warrior? Like if you dont have all of those yet, dont run control warrior or run a different version of warrior
most dont run ysera, it is optional and i dont feel like it fits that well. alexstraza, grommish, rag, and carine are the 4 most common ones and the ones i feel like do the most for me in the deck. TBK, harrison jones, and barron geddon are also really good but not completely necessary.
There's a big difference between a card that is inherently good value and a card that is contextually good value. Unleash the Hounds, for example, is contextual and on it's own the card isn't amazing but in the combo it gets insane. On the other side you have something like Harvest Golem which is simply good value for cost, regardless of the rest of the deck.
Baron and Harrison are those kinds of situational legendaries. They're both good in the context (baron against Zoo, Harrison against Shaman/Warrior/Hunter) but on their own they don't swing games, per se.
The "staples" are those that have remained in high use despite meta changes. Leeroy, Rag, Ysera, Jaxx, Cairne, etc..
In Warrior Control, it depends on meta but the general backbone is some mix of The Black Knight (in and out of meta), Ysera, Rag, Cairne, (maybe) Alex. Grommash replaces the duties Leeroy usually fulfills as a finisher. Sylvanas is run frequently, as well.
I'd vote Ysera, Rag, Cairne as the backbone with Grommash/Leeroy, Sylvanas, Alex and TBK as the "maybe" pile.
Necessary: Alex, Grom, Cairne, Baron. You have to have these 4. Baron is meta and may go out someday..but not now.
Fringe: (some decks have them, others don't, Kinda Metaish.). Sylvanas, Harrison, The Black Knight. At the moment the meta is likely too aggro for any of these. Ooze is better than Harrison. Black Knight is good against matchups you should be winning anyway.
Outbecause of Meta only: Ysera. While once a pretty much auto include. Shines in Control Matchups..but meta is way too fast to make this good.

Sums it up really nicely. Out of the top 4 I would argue that Baron is the most "replaceable" since you can put other anti-zoo cards in your deck if you don't have him (wild pyro or cleave for example). Alex, Grom and Cairne are absolutely must have.
I'm so glad there is prejudice against playing hunter/zoo/[insert FotM deck here]. People like that make the life so much easier for those of us who play to win.
First off, that is kind of a strong generalization. Both are situational cards, ergo they are only really good when you hit a weapon with them. Secondly we are talking about warrior control, so Ooze doesn't even fit in the general idea of a few early game threats, that all do something and bigger lategame threats.
Also while Ooze is ok if played in turn 2-3, even without a weapon in game to destroy, it is a terrible topdeck later in the game, while a 5/4 is atleast decent later on. Then Harrison does a lot more than just destroy a weapon, it draws you card(s) AND gives a nice 5/4 body on the field. And especially in warrior control card draw is really important, so that gives Harrison another edge over Ooze.
Ooze fits more into mid range and aggro decks that want to have something against weapons imho, but i find it extremely weak in warrior control.
Ooze has played out better for me than Harrison. Ooze is a drop to offset aggro decks. I have a 75% win ration vs Control decks..but 50/50 with most aggro builds. Albeit close...I still prefer ooze. I can also usually play an ooze followed by another card which helps with tempo. Of course there are moments when Harrison can be better...I think Ooze beats it most of the time.

what about rag? he's in every control warrior decklist i've found
Disagree with all the "must have" talk about legends playing control warrior. While the strong control legends are good to have as they provide easy win conditions to close games out, they aren't "needed" before you can start playing control warrior.
A well played ravenholdt assassin can close a game nearly as well as a grom can and alex isn't needed if you run a few mid game threats (smart in this meta anyway).
Just saying be careful not to discourage budget players from trying the archetype even if they have to make a few substitutions due to a lack of heavy legendaries in their collection.

thanks for the input. yes I agree legendaries are not "needed" but I made this thread because I have 2 of them and have enough dust for 2 more so I needed to know which ones to craft :)

I am sure this will vary based on who responds, but in my opinion I would not run it without the following:
Ragnaros
Ysera
Cairne
Baron
Alex
Grommash
Arguments could also be made for Sylvanas and Harrison Jones.
I run all of the above, but I would say the first 6 are quite important.
Edit...can't believe I forgot about Alex and Grommash lol.
May I ask why is Baron a must? I agree with the first three. Learning from your experience. Thanks

WARNING: Opinions change with the meta!
Watch me play! Laugh at my mistakes!
Where I am in the grind right now, Baron can just be a total blowout for me. I am playing against a lot of Zoo decks...a lot.
I just got a sylvana from a pack, is it viable to be used for control warrior?
Oh god yes, like yesterday.

LOL oops I forgot about Rag. Just an oversight. Good Catch.
Btw I really need to stop playing Rag before Alex (when both in hand). I have had a bad habit of that this season.
