If you haven't hopped on the train yet, you should be. Priest should easily be in the top 3 now with the MSG bonus appearance. The 3/4 common is bonkers (you should be incredibly scared if Priests goes first with a 2 drop on board going into turn 3), Potion of Madness is bonkers, board clears are bonkers, kabals are bonkers. Kabal Songstealer is also just really damn good. The kabal cards benefit priests more than it does mages, because priests didn't have access to easy board clears but now it can be. I've typically beat control/slower mage decks in value. Which is hilarious if you think about the amount of tools mages has.
Share your opinion on Priests. Like... what can you even do to counter Priests? I guess you go hardcore on tempo and hope for the best they just haven't drawn any of their *common* removal cards or 3/4s that can deal with your board.
I'd say Rogue + Priest is on top, and dunno what the 3rd will be (Maybe Warlock/Shaman, need to play around a bit). Mages dipped quite a bit in terms of consistency. They got forgettable commons to really shitty commons and Priests should be on average beating Mages in control matchups. I'd say its early to say, but Rogues are traditionally good against Priests and is basically a tempo crack machine so... and this meta gave her a pseudo-3/2 1 drop? a 5/4 autobarber? Jesus Christ.
played priest, didnt get the new OP cards besides one new 3/4 talonpriest, couldnt keep anything at board, didnt draw my early game and when I did, it got promptly removed or RNGd down with bomber, ended up 2/3... so nothing out of the ordinary for me, but hey, it was only one priest run, right?
Not curving out will make you lose regardless of which class it is.
And also, if people haven't played Priests (and I see no reason why anyone would've in previous expansions), it takes a bit getting used to in how to utilize the hero power and how to draft a deck.
Like I said tho, I've been consistently outvaluing a mage, and I'd imagine this will be the trend. It's not like Mages aren't good, it's just that they've gotten crappy cards in this expansion for Arena and their consistency dipped, while Priest's consistency increased almost exponentially with the amount of tools it got this expansion.

There are people who have been Priest mainers since the beginning. You might not have seen a reason to play Priest but I play the game mostly to play Priest. Closing in on 5,000 ladder wins with Priest decks in fact.
Destroying priests with Kazakus Renolock. Abyssal Enforcer, Felfire Potion and Kazakus potions provide good board clears which Renolock needed. Also with other 2 kabal cards and new 1 mana Zombie chow gives some nice curve at early game. Priests can not keep up with my board clears because generally the biggest dragon they play is Chillmaw. It would be harder to counter bigger dragons but Siphon Soul, sylvanas + Shadowflame, Twisting Nether would do the job. At late game Jaraxxus wins the game. If you are lucky enough to avoid Entomb, Rag and Faceless Manipulator <3 <3

Ladder is irrelevant in this discussion though, it's Arena, and Priests have traditionally been bad in Arena for a while now. Lol.
Same to the other guy who's posting about constructed stuff in Arena forum.
Just finished a 12-2 priest run. Had some really good control games. The new 5/5 for 5 with silence is awesome. Actually made use of the 5/5 for 5 gain charge if enemy has a taunt minion. Greater heal potion also saved me and allowed me to survive the more aggressive decks. Also had two copies of the potion of madness and a single copy of the Dragon potion.
Was very pleased with how priest performed in the run.
Lol, more people mistaken Arena threads for constructed.
Potion of madness is just insane tbh. So many times either opponent used it on a harvest golem/haunted creeper and got its own deathrattle. At it's worse it destroys 2 1/1s. It's just an insane value card for 1 mana in Arena. I think Haunted Creeper and Harvest Golem are gonna go down by a bit just because Priest has become the meta. Kinda sad.

I think the biggest take aways from MSG will be that priest will take a massive step up into the top/second tier of arena classes, pally will move into top tier, mage will see a hit to it's dominance but remain top tier and rogue will drop down into the second/third tier. Warrior sees a bit of a boost but I don't think it's enough the needle and the other classes shaman, druid, warlock, and hunter will remain where they were.
Agreed paly also got a lot better. I'm not a very experienced arena player but I got an easy 7 wins with paladin yesterday. The turn 1 and 2 hand buffs are so good.
In the combined Karazhan meta my average with priest was 5.17 with 12 runs. So it was OK even before MSG.
But yeah, priest is so good now, probably even shadybunny will play it sometimes. ;)
he did actually - and wasn't that happy with all that "trading" :D
lol, not surprised :)
dont get me wrong, he is an awesome player, but his "challenge" runs are far more interesting then the normal tryhard rogue-rogue-mage-rogue-Iamapro-mage-rogue-Ineverriskplayingshittierclasses-rogue-mage runs.

The problem of Paladin will always plague itself; lacking a ping and a way to get back on the board if behind. It's a win more class, and even if you do have the turn 1-2 buffs, if you can't unload at least 2 cards in the following turn, it's still just meh, since the 1/1 is essentially a free trade against a 3/2 or 2/3. In MSG it's even less curvy than before so it's easy to fall behind. This is why I think Warlock and Priest has gotten so good, because not only did they receive OP common cards, they also have access to even more board clears with discover cards and whatever class board clears they received.
Rogue went down with the karazhan "balance", but now it's on top again imo. The new 5/4 pirate, the 1/2 pirate, two above average common cards, and there's just so much tempo. The thing is, I'm pretty sure the 5/4 pirate is better than autobarber. Since you usually end up playing autobarber anyway on turn 3 or 4, now you can just have a 5/4 body plus a 2 attack weapon.
Mage/Paladin/Shaman I think is around the middle tiers. Druid/Warrior/Hunter being in the third. But the interesting bit about Warrior and Hunter is if you know how to play the class and how to draft, you can still up decently well. So I guess it really is just Druid in the bottom now. lol

I think there are no place for priest in meta. Jade druid, pirate warrior, renolock can easy win priests

They're so stupid in how they "fix" this game.
Like a toddler would. OH THIS CLASS SUCKS? JUST MAKE A CARD THAT'S TOO GOOD FOR THEM, THAT'LL FIX IT!
Why. So now you randomly get it and it's completely ridiculous, or you don't and lose just as normal. Trash.
