It would have been fine if it was just plain old Discover effects. The mana discount makes it unbearable. If the cards you include don't immediately have an effect on getting more presents, you lose.
People trash on Brawls way too much - they might be my favorite play mode, and I regularly log over 20 wins in each style - but this is the first one I have outright disliked.
Personally, I prefer the premade tavern brawl decks. However, the most popular brawls are those where you have to make your own deck. Also, premade in this brawl would just be way too much RNG
They already are breaking their own rules... Discovering out of class? Already? THATS my worst issue. They developed a rule, STICK TO IT! The brawl itself is uncessary to play, since cardback is worth no dust.

The Roshambo to Hearthstone. Please be nice. Don't insult or be mad at someone for throwing Rock.
HELL no. Everyone has their opinion but my favorite brawls by FAR are the ones you can make your own deck with rule twists. They bring their own 5-day meta you can enjoy and be good at before the super-try-hards dominate like they do ladder. Pre-mades are so random it's like playing slap-jack.
Whoa looks like I had a little rant to get out. No, I don't think it should have been preconstructed.
I think it would've been more fun actually if the gifts was rng. Discover is way too strong and in addition to the reduced cost it just made the brawl super snowbally (no pun intended) for whoever got the presents first. Would've liked gifts to just be random (kind of like when you unwrap a gift you don't know what you get)
This one could've easily been a brawl with a "pre-made deck", but I seriously don't see the problem with it being of "build your own" category. In fact, I think I enjoyed it more this way as I had to figure out what was the best way to play it.
Not like it was hard or anything, and not like I'm going to play it a lot, but all I mean is I think this one is perfectly fine with how it is in term of deck options.
Make the gift card 0 mana. Remove the Mana Discount
This would make it an awesome brawl. But so it's pretty bad. The gifts would still be strong, but not as overpowered as it is now. Since Snowball still costs 0 mana, opening the package is still very important, but it's no auto-win anymore.
got a present. turn 1 - coin, armorsmith. turn 2 - inner rage said present and then rampage it. didnt get to turn 3 as the guy quit, having played nothing yet except his 0-4 present which he was given. got me a card back, no need to play it again. so i dont really know the answer to this question!

The point of brawls is to try out things that are normally not possible in regular HS play. Every Brawl breaks a rule. Did you have a problem with being able to have 2 legendaries in Crossroads? What about decks full of Portals or Webspinners? Playing as a boss class? Playing co-operatively with your opponent? Every one of these breaks fundamental rules of the game, and that's the purpose of brawls. To have fun with breaking rules.
It should have been premade. regardless of whether you play fast or slow, the winner of the brawl will be the one with more presents almost every single time. This means that decks good at opening presents are objectively better than others and I'm already seeing nothing but warlocks (maybe I just suck, they win vs me with rogue every single time).
It is basically a premade. The best deck is painfully obvious and really cheap, and if you are not playing it, you are doing it wrong and will likely have a terrible win rate.

While I do regret the brawls that get reduced to a single dominant archetype before the weekend, I regard the very point of a Brawl like this to make the deck that's the best at exploiting the twist, as in getting the most presents. That's what I love about constructed brawls.

that is true, I agree. The problem is that I think the best deck for this brawl is just a little bit too obvious.
as a counter example, ppl loved playing priest in heart of the sunwell (turn 1 10 mana) brawl, but few would dare say priest is objectively best in the brawl, as we do now.
I don't like premade decks.. Premade decks just add more RNG. Making a deck requires more skill but also more cards in your collection. I haven't spent any money on hearthstone so my collection is missing cards but making a good deck with cards I have is what makes it fun for me.
Not getting free pack this week kind of sucks. Also, the games last too long this week. My first win was 35minute game where I fatigued a warlock with Paladin. The other thing I don't like is that the description of brawl is so vague and you have to create a deck before you know how it plays out.
If it were pre-made, I might have played more than the one win required for the cardback. As it is - I'm done. Netdecks are bad enough in ranked and casual, I'm tired of seeing them in the even more unbalanced tavern brawls.

Does anyone think that this brawl should have been a pre-made deck instead of a constructed deck?

The problem is simply solved:
Make the gift card 0 mana.
Remove the Mana Discount

I am personally thankful it wasn't premade. It allowed me to go full-on Spell Shaman.
Mrghl Mrghl!

I don't understand why everybody is hating on this brawl so much... my games have almost all gone to 25 cards and been crazy fun back and forth.
I saw Noxious do a 40 damage combo with 2x Prophet Velen + pyroblast yesterday, hilarious.

i BELIEVE WHEN YOU DISCOVER OUT OF CLASS, IT IS BECAUSE YOU HAVE STOLEN YOUR OPPONENT'S PRESENTS AND YOU DISCOVER FROM THEIR CLASS. sorry caps.
I am 24 years old and play Hearthstone for fun and competitively for Rhythm Gaming based in Laredo, Texas.
