Been struggling with going from Platinum Rank to Diamond. So far the highest I am able to reach is Platinum 5. I've been trying out multiple different priest builds-most of which have been posted on here and with great reviews. (Quest/Resurrect and Galakrond builds). All of the builds I've been trying are posted by players who have hit diamond-legend rank so I'm not sure if there are deck builds that do better in climbing from lower ranks? I'm following the general strategy guides as well but just getting tanked by losing streaks once I hit 5. Can anyone please give any recommendations for climbing? I obviously don't consider myself an outstanding player by any means but I have a solid understanding of the game (and all classes) and would love to advance further in rank.
You just need to jump on a streak, that's all, really. Me and my friend both were playing on Diamond 10, using the same deck, he climbed to 5 in no time, I was pretty much stuck on 10, while he was climbing with no effort.
Everyone gets stuck sooner or later, just be patient. If your deck is ok and you know how to pilot it, sooner or later you will get a winning streak and advance. Of course it won't work if your deck is simply bad in the meta (anything what looses to DH and Hunter at the moment), but since it is not the case for Priest, just stay calm, don't tilt and it will come.
Any decent tier 2 or better deck can take you to diamond 5, as said above eventually you will hit a winning streak and take advantage of the bonus stars. From an efficiency point of view a Face Hunter deck will get you there faster than a Priest deck, the reason being that if you win you win fast and if you lose....well, you lose fast:) But of course it's not all about that. So if you enjoy playing Priest just stick to it, the more you play the better you will get to play the deck and sooner or later you will break out of this plateau.
Well it depends on what you are facing, but warrior has the best deck right now, and generally fast decks are better if you just want to climb, just because you can play more games.
As you keep playing more games you will also keep improving/learning matchups/learning to make adjustments to your deck if needed.
So... Priest is ok but I would say you should play a faster deck just for the purpose to climb. When you will hit a rank you are happy with, you can enjoy your long control games :D
Faster decks doesn't necessarily mean playing aggro all the time. I played spell druid this season from bronze to I think diamond 5. It's not the best deck, it's inconsistent, relying on highroll, but it doesn't matter if you lose some game, the more you know your deck, the more you learn to create the situations for your power plays to happen. Eventually you will get the win streak that you need.
I went 13-4 from 3 to legend this morning with dragon hunter. It’s a great deck against rogues and DH’s. All 4 losses were to warrior...
Wait until you face the new DH deck. It's pretty difficult for hunter to win. Dragon hunter might stand more of a chance but it's pretty screwed up facing this deck. There is beaming sidekick of course so that you can't kill their stuff. However, high legend DHs are running double mana burn now. This is a pretty insane card if you know how to use it. I don't think there has been an effect before where you so easily start manipulating your opponent's mana crystals. There has always been giving your opponent mana but not removing your opponent's mana. In the hands of an experienced player the card is pretty busted. There is a skill aspect to it since mana burn basically does nothing when inexperienced players use it since they use it when it will have no impact. You need to know the ins and outs of the other deck and what they have to answer your board and then play mana burn or even double mana burn so they simply can't do that now.
Mana burn can be like having a more powerful one mana maeiv in some ways. Maiev is a very powerful card when used well. It is like a 52% win rate card when used badly and a 70% win rate card when used well. It can take out another minion from play. What mana burn does is take something out from play before you can play it, and mitigate its effect. So, for example, it can stop you playing alexstraza on 9. It can stop you healing with libram of hope. It can stop you playing galakrond, It can make sure you can't play your board clear like twisting nether or you can't poof as a mage. It's an extremely powerful and busted effect on a one mana card. The one draw back of course is it's pretty bad vs aggro decks but DH does so well vs aggro it doesn't matter. The nerfs really didn't do anything. Nothing has changed except people are using even more powerful cards now instead of the nerfed 2/1.

Mana burn is kinda like Loatheb; just wider, lower impact, and worse value due to lack of body. That card was a control staple, as well as appearing in some more aggressive midranges to block boardwipes. Burn is similar. Two mana isn't huge for control decks (I mean, it can be huge against them, but control DH probably wouldn't run it unless there's a high mana OTK that they'd be a turn short handling), but it's notably cheaper, so expect to find it in the more aggressive builds, blocking boardwipes and similar.
Had no star bonus at plat at all so streaks are a must. Made first time d10 (or old 10 for that matter), with dragon hunter that beat the crap out of a buttload of rogues, the few mages I encountered, and a solid 3-3 or 4-4 vs priest which were the best matches, whether win or loss. DH, hunter, and warlock were tough but overall positive w/r, the rest I had 1 ofs, maybe 2 druids. Gotta admit warlock quest (one reg, one HL) kicked my ass.
Trap was at plat 5 - after 5-0 to climb there I had 4 bad days I didn't rise above 2 stars at plat 5, followed by three days of 13-3 with streaks of 5 and 4.

So yeah my advice is to play a proactive deck!
Good luck 😁
Agreed, Pirate combo warrior is very consistent if played well. You do have to figure out when to hold risky skipper and when to play.
Between platinum and diamond, I used dragon hunter and highlander rogue. Dragon hunter is easier and quicker than highlander rogue, so if you are stucked, you can play more games with dragon hunter to finally find a win streak

Find a deck that's teir 2+ and just learn it's weakness and strengths and stick with it.
I would recommend spell druid. Watch boar control's spell druid guide and try this for a cheap one to climb to legend with

Thank you everyone for the feedback. I really appreciate it :)

Summary: Hunter > casino :D

Unless you were in a coma how could you not figure out by now that you basically just need to spam brainless DH or brainless Hunter into legend?
You could but my win rate with warrior was about 70% which made it much faster than DH or Hunter.
