I was playing with my Control Warlock. Used all my spells to be at 30 health the whole game. At turn 16 he combo'ed and dealt 30 damage, using Velen, Mind Blast, Holy Smite and the Coin. He played Raza at turn 6 and Anduin at turn 10. Yes, I play The Darkness to counter this deck but sometimes they draw all their combo pieces before you draw your 1 counter. Why does Blizzard allow a 5 card combo that OTK's you from 30 health? Are they not realizing this?

And this is actually the first time that's happened to you since Razakkus exists?
I know, but combos like divine spirit and inner fire were interactive, you could clean their board every turn to avoid it. This combo is unstoppable and pushes players to play mindless aggro to stop it

I have seen worse ones - quest rogue, for example.
Look, I'm not defending Highlander priest. Normally I really despise combo decks for that reason, which you mentioned, but this is the counter to us, we are the counter to their counter etc etc. Tbh yeah, Raza Priest is really annoying, but like I said I have seen worse ones, which complete their combo super early (QR) or have a lot of tools to stall (exodia mage). Imho Raza is strong, it also has a lot of tools to prolong the game (aoes, heals) and the dk also kills a big board, but is draw dependent and thus kinda slow.
Nevertheless I'm still waiting for the next rotation, because I got tired of the current "old" modified decks on the ladder.

Consider yourself lucky it happened at 16. Turn 10 for me today. Him empty board, me with dreadlord out. 30+ damage.
Welcome to combo decks! Where spawning endless 3/9 taunts does not win you the game.
I actually used razakus in my legend climb to counter the plethora of warlocks on ladder, to great success. It felt good to have them heal to 30 and emoting, just to die to Velen anyway.
As for the Darkness, I still laugh at people who think it counters Razakus. Well spent dust, bois.
It's fine if combo decks counter control but not to the extent that you can die behind a wall of taunts at 30 hp. Aggro counters combo...that doesn't mean that combo decks should die turn 4 to aggro. 30 + unavoidable damage is just too much and should not be possible. There is no good tech choice either ( Mind Breaker is laughable when Priest has so many ways to deal with it without hero power and Dirty Rat needs to get lucky if the Priest keeps a minion or 2 for Velen protection ) .
Blizzard nerfed so many otk strategies before that were less frustrating to deal with so the only reason Razakus is still around is probably because it gets rotated soon. Regardless..I do hope Blizzard nerfes it instead so we don't have to endure another full expansion of Razakus dominance + it's healthier for wild also ( it's even more broken there )
If you were a warrior and you realized your playing highlander it's a pretty easy match. Pool armor like a mofo. They don't have many threats other than the combo turn.
*edit: read wrong, thought you said you were playing control warrior*
I think the darkness only works to delay the singleton aspect of that priest deck but doesn't actually counter. Priest can kill it just by playing it's hero card alone.

Very good. It would have been pretty nice, if control warrior were a thing in this meta, if the tools were strong enough to make a viable deck out of them.
But the sarcasm aside, I also think, that warrior could have dealt with the Highlander priest deck, as it can generate tons of armor to get away from the burn range.

Because it is a five card combo in a highlander deck that could have their pieces in the last cards of their deck? I don't get the point of your question.
Last I checked combo decks beat control decks during rock, paper, scissors. Working as intended.

That's all well and good, except Highlander Priest isn't actually unfavored against any aggro deck. The only legitimate "counters" are even more all in combo decks such as Quest mage and Quest rogue, which simply lose to everything that isn't either cubelock or highlander priest.
Just stop trying to defend the deck. I actually currently play it myself over almost everything else, and find it genuinely fun to play. But it doesn't change the fact that it's broken, probably to a similar extent that pre nerf patron warrior was. Are you also going to enlighten us with gems such as "PW was never broken, just play double flamestrike, double iceblock molten giant freeze mage and you will beat the deck easily, so the deck was totally fine"?

That's coming from a control warlock?
Lost a game today because I saw 6 Doomsguard being cast on turn 10 with Guuldan.
Yeah, 6. That's 30 health on one drop in a game that I controled from start to finish and was about to end.
So yeah, combos are combos, win or lose.

I was at least at 34+ health.
This isn't something unusual, my friend. That's why this is a combo deck.
From 30, yes.
Welcome to OTK..not anything new..
Decks like this actually forces players to play mindless aggro. Control and midrange can't do anything to stop these combos

My point is that these unstoppable combos damage the game. Like freeze mage. It only pushes players to play the most aggro deck possible

The deck is stupid, yeah we know, they're not doing anything about it either. A couple more months and, for good riddance, gadgetzan is gone.
Jades and raza, thou shan't be missed.
