It is not a high performance deck and I'd argue it's very high skill to ladder effectively with. You must already be a proficient player with priest and have a deep understanding of the current meta.
That said Lyra maricle or full control are both contenders to reach legend. The biggest hurdle is quest rogue. While they are beatable vanish after quest is pretty much instant concede since priest needs the board mid late game.
Every current meta deck is beatable but you can also lose outright and will experience extreme tilt playing priest.
I made legend with dragon Lyra last season and faced many control priests at R3+. And in priest mirror control is heavily favoured.
My two cents, priest is fun to play with in the meta but one of the highest skill levels required to climb and again can get walked all over. Hunter is by far the best matchup for priest atm.
Kibler seems to manage it, but I think a few seasons ago he used pirate warrior to break out of rank 5 to get to legend then he was back to priest. But he also plays for about 8 hours a day, you'll need a really good win rate.
It can be done, but it depends on the current Meta. I played it from rank 9 to rank 1 with a 70% quickly on the back of many favored MU. Then the meta shifted into more Pala and I dropped back to rank 3. Two days later it was again all full of mages and made it to legend.
So, if you run into too many Paladins or Rogues, it's not a good idea. However it's good against Druids (both Aggro and Jade), Warriors (Quest and Pirates, regular CW is a bad MU, if they run Navi00t's list with 2 primordial drakes and Ysera.) and Guenther/Burn Mage.
If you are looking to play control priest, highlander w/ kazakus and raza is definitely the way to go. That is if you actually have those cards.
Don't listen to this guy, highlander is still not that great of a deck, the most stable priest is Dragon priest, you always get guaranteed value, flexibility, plus early minions.

Yeah agree, Highlander is not the way to go in standard if you want to ladder. Personally I find Dragon with Lyra package and or Elise the best to ladder with. I usually beat Silence priests if I don't get awful draw. But you can just look at someone like Zealot who always hits legend running basically a more Control type priest deck. So it's possible, but he's the priest master.

Well, this is the question... i open a golden Lyra and i have Elise... tempted to craft Shadow Visions and kabal shadow priest to play control priest.
Im talking about just control, not silence or dragon priest. Its really necesary the dragon package to be competitive?
Never play priest before... you have some recomended list?
TY guys
Control is dead w/o Entomb. Or you just can play at rank 20 with "control priest".
One day this game will stop existing. I can't wait.

You can get to at least rank 5 with lyra-priest (EU, here)
