Hello everybody! This topic is for discussion of Week #35 of our Weekly Card Design Competition. One of the awesome things about this competition is that it gets us all talking about what makes a card balanced, fun, realistic, interesting, unique, innovative, exciting, and more. However, to make sure that everything runs smoothly, we need to reserve the Submission Topic for submissions only. Everything else goes here. What is everything else, you might ask?
Rules or Process. Do you have a question about the competition's process? Do you need clarification about one of this week's entry requirements? Are you not sure whether your entry adhered to the rules? Ask here!
Feedback or Ideas. Do you have some ideas you'd like to run by others before settling on one? Do you need help balancing or wording your card? Do you need help finding art that will fit your card? Or do you just want feedback from the community on your entry? You're in the right place! Remember, although you are allowed to make minor tweaks to your entry after you've submitted it, you're only allowed one submission per week, so make sure that you've settled on your card for sure beforehand.
Discussion! Do you have thoughts on other people's cards? Are there directions you don't like that you're seeing too many people take? Or directions you'd like to see more people take? Would you like to help others and contribute to a greater community understanding of Hearthstone card design and balance? This is where you want to be!
WARNING:
Please refrain from the following...
Advertising Your Card. This is a new rule during Season 2. Please don't pop in here just to advertise your card only to never be heard from again. This includes only asking short, generic, or insincere questions like "Thoughts?" or "Do you think this is balanced?". Yes, getting feedback on your card is one of the purposes of this topic, but we're not just here for other people to help you. We're here for you all to help each other. 12 hours after this competition begins, there should be plenty of other posts here for you to give specific feedback or for you to comment on a trend. If you post your card for feedback after this time and do not also offer some form of substantial commentary, critique, or praise of others' work, you may find your post deleted.
Plagiarism. Many people post their ideas here before finalizing them in the submission topic. Directly plagiarizing those ideas to post in the submission topic yourself is absolutely not acceptable.
So, without further ado, have fun and get creating!
Sorry for the delay, folks. I usually create the new topics ahead of time on a separate forum and just move them over when the time is right, but I have to do the moving from my phone, and the new mobile version of the website doesn't quite have all of the mod tools integrated yet. >_<
Gosh, this has been quite the dramatic day. But I hope y'all like the theme this week. Or at least think it's interesting enough. Or at least don't hate it, haha. XP
I'm excited to see what comes up! Other-class secrets have always been an interest of mine, and I can bet anything were going to see some truly ridiculous ones.
Maybe write aditional note, that secrets only activate on your opponents turn? someone already submited secret that activates when YOU trigger YOUR hero power lol ...

Oh man... That's not something Asylum should have to worry about, that's just blatant lack of knowledge of the game.

Yeah i know, but he usually goes out of his way to explain things so i thought he would add this as well, ur right ofc, he should not have to explain that, but on the other hand, he will have to deal with those submissions anyway eventually and mby it will add even more workload for him, if he is gonna PM every one of them :F

Or just disqualify them. Your card has to actually work in the game, I would think :P

Well thats my point, dont mods write PM to those ppl before they disqualify them first?
people, have you forgotten about Competitive Spirit, a secret that can only activate on your own turn? Blizzard has opened the flood gates and has told the fanbase that secrets can indeed be used on our own turns so go wild with card design.
seriously though, at the very least "start of your turn" is allowed no matter what but any other forms of activation is up to debate and up to the mods to determine if its fine not.
PS: i earned "Target Dummy" from this post....think of that how you will.
Alright. Here are two current idea's. Can I get some feedback on which is better or how I should change them?
That would be quite disgusting card forcing u to play your hand :D btw, u should word it "...for each of the opponent's unspent Mana Crystal." or something, operative word being unspent ;-)
@ Firebolts - I don't see how Robbery could work. Your opponent could always put down Charge minions from his hand, so it isn't possible to know if the board state "all enemy minions have attacked this turn" is true.

I like Harvest more, I can even imagine it triggering at the end of enemy turn so you can attack with them? Oponent usually won't let it trigger unless played in lategame or on purpose with only one in the early game with this meta curve so i think being able to attack with them shouldn't be op. On the other hand it can be topdeck war instant winner. Either way i really like it.
i dont inherently disagree with this but at the same time, i think it is interesting to come up with ideas of how secrets could be used on your turn and how it could be fleshed out from there. i 100% agree that having a secret that can ONLY be activated by yourself is very stupid and misses the point of the mechanic entirely, but having a secret that is triggered by doing an action that you or your opponent could do, like taking damage on either player's turn, regardless of if it was done by you or your opponent could certainly be interesting.

The card would only keep in mind minions currently on the battlefield. SO the following situations with HCarge minions:
1: If you play a Charge creature before attacking with your other creatures, Robbery will only trigger after the Charge creature and the others have attacked.
2 if you play Charge creature after attacking with your other creatures on the board, Robbery will already have triggered because the minions at that point had already attacked.

Give a man a Murloc, and he'll eat for a day.
Give him a Murloc Knight, and people will hate him.
before anyone asks, i will most likely change the cost to 3. this is much more of a proof of concept to see if the idea is ok and not overly broken
most basic way to put it, this is an Ice Block for 1 instance of damage that also nets you a random burst of the damage you would have taken. only thing is, you can also control when that damage happens. so you play this in combo with Pit Lord to negate the damage AND give yourself a 5 damage fist of jarraxus.. or play this, hero power, 2 damage fist.
i certainly want to have this be able to be used on your own turn but at the same time, it would kind of defeat the purpose of a secret so i may change it so it has to be on the field for a turn before you can use it on your own turn. thoughts? do you think the effect itself is too generic?
A few days ago, I literally thought the next competition would be about creating a Secret card for a class that wasn't Hunter/Mage/Paladin. Pretty spooky, but I'll get right to work.

Q: What did Avril Lavigne say when her Asian masseuse refused to give sexual favors?
I've been messing around with a few shaman secrets. This makes Mad Scientist fairly redundant (not sure it would be :/) it kinda suits the fact that you know which secret it is. On the one hand I think it might help shaman get the help they need a bit earlier, on the other, is it worth that card slot? Used with Ancestral Knowledge it's nice, accelerates against aggro, might prevent an attack, stall a game in longer matches.

Still applies that secrets only triggers on your opponent turn doesn't it?
Totally forgot about competitive spirit, nice catch @Zekana ↓Anyways pretty interesting theme, the restriction of secret not really being a secretive made it harder for sure.

A: "So much for my happy ending."
I went ahead and submitted it first. :3
But yeah, it's kinda obvious and easy to balance.
