Discussion Topic Rules
To make sure that everything runs smoothly, we need to reserve the Submission Topic for submissions only. Everything else goes here. What is everything else, you might ask?
Rules or Process. Do you have a question about the competition's process? Do you need clarification about one of the entry requirements? Are you not sure whether your entry adhered to the rules? Ask here!
Feedback or Ideas. Do you have some ideas you'd like to run by others before settling on one? Do you need help balancing or wording your entry? Do you need help finding art that will fit your card? Or do you just want feedback from the community on your entry? You're in the right place! Remember, although you are allowed to make minor tweaks to your entry after you've submitted it, you're only allowed one submission per week, so make sure that you've settled on your card for sure beforehand.
Discussion! Do you have thoughts on other people's entries? Are there directions you don't like that you're seeing too many people take? Or directions you'd like to see more people take? Would you like to help others and contribute to a greater community understanding of Hearthstone card design and balance? This is where you want to be!
All of that said, please refrain from the following:
Posting TONS of Ideas. Discussion topics become an absolute mess if everybody is posting a dozen different ideas. Please post not more than 3 distinct ideas at a time. Any more than that and we'll have to delete your post.
Advertising Your Entry. Please don't pop in here just to advertise your entry only to never be heard from again. This includes only asking short, generic, or insincere questions like "Thoughts?" or "Do you think this is interesting?". Yes, getting feedback on your entry is one of the purposes of this topic, but we're not just here for other people to help you. We're here for you all to help each other. 12 hours after this competition begins, there should be plenty of other posts here for you to give specific feedback or for you to comment on a trend. If you post your entry for feedback after this time and do not also offer some form of substantial commentary, critique, or praise of others' work, you may find your post deleted.
Plagiarism. Many people post their ideas here before finalizing them in the submission topic. Directly plagiarizing those ideas to post in the submission topic yourself is absolutely not acceptable.

so a while ago I asked why there was a difference between the time I see the post and the time it says it was created, and they told me it shows the time when the admin starts typing on the post; does this mean you created this post two days ago?

Yep! Depending on how quickly we decide on the theme - and if somebody gets around to it - we can create the Discussion and Submission threads well in advance. We tend not to do the same for the Final Poll though, because it would be heavily edited anyway when the finalists are decided, so its easier just to make it from scratch.

hmm, then maybe from time to time you could post the threads earlier in the day? make it more friendly for non-Americans
Here's my idea: a Mage Sherazin. Considering how "dormant" seems to work, it'd also return the minion back to a 3/6 body whenever it goes dormant again.
Grave Beast helps control hunter deal with sticky targets as long as the target can't trade into it. Play Dead helps, but the Deathrattle will only work once, you can't make a minion go 'double dormant' or anything.
Worgen Necromancer aims to protect effect-heavy minions like Malygos and Archmage Antonidas but requires it surviving until the next turn. You could also pile a lot of smaller minions on the board and awaken them all at once! Because they start dormant, spells like Bloodlust and Savage Roar would not buff their attack values if those are the spells you cast to awaken them.
Vibrant Crystal is meant to be for a burn mage (ugg, yes I like that playstyle and it will need help after Ice Block rotates) so you could equip this and leave it dormant until you're ready to play your Wisps and Snowflipper Penguins to activate the weapon and blow your opponent up.
I'd make it 3 mana to synergize with the Paladin Hero Power on turn 2 and 4. I also think 4/4 is a little too good to be awakened on your opponent's turn (you can attack with it immediately)

nice concept! I would adjust the wording to "Whenever a friendly secret is revealed awaken this". Since reveal tends to be a one-time deal and awaken is the term associated with being dormant.
I actually had an idea relatively fast this time, and I'm pretty happy with it:
Zelfrax is a "gargoyle-esque demon" from WoW. Flavor-wise, I turned him into a Weeping Angel from Doctor Who: if you can see him, he turns into a statue. If you cannot see him, he's moments away from tearing you apart! D:
Gameplay-wise, he's rather straightforward at face value. But, the real trick behind Zelfrax is to make him go dormant on purpose, using minions like Hungry Dragon, Gravelsnout Knight, or Leeroy Jenkins. You give your opponent a minion after Zelfrax attacks, then clear it out right after; this causes Zelfrax to reawaken, with Charge so he can immediately attack again.
In a more general sense, the dormant effect can also protect him from being cleared. The enemy has to plan out their turn in the proper order, so they don't play a minion before the spell or weapon they'll use to kill Zelfrax.
Behold, foolish interlopers! I am commanding this mortal to spread the will of the Scourge throughout the interwebs, encouraging you to seek out me, Archlich Kel'Thuzad! Now coming to you as the tenth class of Hearthstone!
I am a finalist in this Class Creation Competition, so if you could give it a look I would be greatly appreciative <3

Hardly worth it for the extra couple hours, it's better if the comp starts at the same time every time so there is some structure to it ;-)
First crack at it, always thought dormant seems to work best in strong legendary cards. Made Mannoroth a warrior card because his nickname 'the Destructor' and text flavor seemed to fit the theme of warrior where it has a lot of board clears and non warlock demons are pretty cool.
It counts for ALL minions destroyed, not just ones the player summoning destroys so it makes your opponent be weary of that too; thinking of removing the 'Starts dormant' and making it an 8 mana 8/8 because starting dormant holds it back as a threat for a bit
So here's something I thought of to be more original in this admittedly limited theme:
Collectible dormant cards that you actually put in your deck. You play them, they take up a slot on the board and aren't destroyable just like the currently existing dormant cards. While on the board, you gain access to any effect, then after a set amount of turns, they remove themselves from the battlefield. They aren't considered minions, and as such, cannot be summoned by effects like Evolve.
The turn amount counts your own turns only. When you play Mana Shrine for example, it will remove itself at the end of your NEXT turn. Fandral Staghelm is also rotating out, and that's where Enchanted Forest Shrine shines because it will still allow the crazy Choose Both stuff in Standard after rotation.
Fun fact: You wouldn't know just by looking at them, but all 3 of these cards use the same piece of artwork.

That is freaky timing: I was literally just thinking "maybe the next set of class Legendaries will be special auras you play on the battlefield. That's how they'll create lasting spell effects."
Of the three I think my favorite is Ocean Shrine, because it has a positive and a negative to it. At face value you're removing the downside of Overload, but you're also hampering your Snowfury Giants and Tunnel Troggs. Whether or not that was intended, you created a small balancing factor that keeps it from being too powerful.
That being said, I imagine Enchanted Forest Shrine will be the most popular.

I want a new title, but Flux won't let me have one,

These are getting more and more tricky - but it sounds like fun :)
You can find me here! Good luck everyone!
Because Ner'zhul only won twice during past WCDCs.
