Hello everybody! This topic is for discussion of our "Stay Classy, HearthPwn" competition. To make sure that everything runs smoothly, we need to reserve the Submission Topic for submissions only. Everything else goes here. What is everything else, you might ask?
Rules or Process. Do you have a question about the competition's process? Do you need clarification about one of the entry requirements? Are you not sure whether your entry adhered to the rules? Ask here!
Feedback or Ideas. Do you have some ideas you'd like to run by others before settling on one? Do you need help balancing or wording your entry? Do you need help finding art that will fit your card? Or do you just want feedback from the community on your entry? You're in the right place! Remember, although you are allowed to make minor tweaks to your entry after you've submitted it, you're only allowed one submission per week, so make sure that you've settled on your card for sure beforehand.
Discussion! Do you have thoughts on other people's entries? Are there directions you don't like that you're seeing too many people take? Or directions you'd like to see more people take? Would you like to help others and contribute to a greater community understanding of Hearthstone card design and balance? This is where you want to be!
All of that said, please refrain from the following:
Posting TONS of Ideas. Discussion topics become an absolute mess if everybody is posting a dozen different ideas. Please post not more than 3 distinct ideas at a time. Any more than that and we'll have to delete your post.
Advertising Your Entry. Please don't pop in here just to advertise your entry only to never be heard from again. This includes only asking short, generic, or insincere questions like "Thoughts?" or "Do you think this is interesting?". Yes, getting feedback on your entry is one of the purposes of this topic, but we're not just here for other people to help you. We're here for you all to help each other. 12 hours after this competition begins, there should be plenty of other posts here for you to give specific feedback or for you to comment on a trend. If you post your entry for feedback after this time and do not also offer some form of substantial commentary, critique, or praise of others' work, you may find your post deleted.
Plagiarism. Many people post their ideas here before finalizing them in the submission topic. Directly plagiarizing those ideas to post in the submission topic yourself is absolutely not acceptable.
So, without further ado, have fun and get creating!
I'm excited for this week's theme. I just hope that people aren't too biased against Combo, Choose One, and Overload specifically being seen outside of their usual classes, because those are the possibilities that I'm personally most intrigued by.
I'm looking forward to some good enrage cards myself. It's such a tricky mechanic to get right, since it has to be reversible if they get healed. Making an elegant enrage card is not easy.
this was 0 initially since you pay the totem cost, but since there is a powerful combo i made it 1 and i am thinking 2 is better, what do you think guys?

I'd definitely put that at 2 mana at least - think of how expensive Headcrack is in order to pay for the ability to return it to your hand.
I have a question: do I need to make card that has the exact listed mechanic, like Freeze for example, or can it simple interact with it, like something like this for example:
Something like that is fine - with Mage we're looking for interaction with the Freeze mechanic, which includes things that are already Frozen. I've got two ideas for this competition, but I don't know which one I like more.
Cry Havoc - And let slip the dogs of war! I really like this card, and with the amount of Beasts available to Warriors I think it's fairly priced. Should it give more Attack, or is it balanced as is?
Guardian of the Grove - Touch his forest and he'll get angry! I like the idea of this as an addition to a 4 mana 'X of the Grove' line, like the 'Ancient of X' at 7 mana thing. I think that, given that your first attack into it is 'free', the +5 Attack is pretty balanced.
Which do you guys like best? Do you like the simple ideas? I wanted to do something simple because I feel it really helps emphasise the mechanic that is being used.

But you dont have to pay any additional mana for Headcrack.
I mean, at 1 mana it's basically your Hero Power, but occasionally you can get a better minion for more mana, and if you play it after other cards you can use it again. And you can hoard the Totems to either activate the combo again, or play them optimally - it just seems far more balanced at 2 mana.
@ShadowsOfSense i like the 2nd also my card is good?
I like the card, but I don't really see why it's a Priest card. I'd have expected to see a card like that in Mage. It just seems like an Ice spell like Frostbolt or Ice Lance - is there a specific reason it's a Priest card?
Basically, it's a finisher for beast warrior. Warrior doesn't combo well with Beast otherwise (yet) so I made it pretty powerful for the cost. I'm thinking it still probably wouldn't be any good, though, because you'd have to be running beasts. Thoughts?
How are mods going to decide if there is a good "justification" for the odd keyword or not?
Leniently. Unless it looks like you put literally zero effort into your creation, you're fine, but honestly in that case your card probably won't do particularly well anyway. =P

O.o Well, I see great minds think alike XD
I like it, and Warrior has so few beasts that it is probably fine. I can't think of any Beasts that are regularly run by Warriors right now, so it would give incentive for a new archetype.
I have 2 questions: does the "Curse" mechanic count as a Warlock mechanic?
The things that we're considering the class-primary mechanics for this purposes of this competition are laid out in the submission topic, so for Warlocks that would be stuff that costs your Hero Health or discards.

I like your card's effect better, but I like Shadow's name for the card better. Of course, the two of you will have to engage in Mortal Kombat in order to decide who gets to submit the concept.

Wow, I can't believe we came up with like the exact same card. Art isn't actually surprising, since it was like the second hit when I googled dogs of war (and it works so well!). Since it wasn't a unique idea, I'll probably keep thinking.

Good?
@ShadowsOfSense i like the 2nd also my card is good?
This is What I'm thinking of going with:
How's the flavor? Does the card work?

This would be good for a beast synergy priest card?
I think the beast synergy part is good, but I'm not sure if it's "priest-y enough"
(Card in spoiler)
(Also the name is pretty bad right now, so I'll take suggestions)

Okay here's an idea I had:

Used Druid's "Choose One" mechanic to add some Demon-based synergy.
What do you think about it?

I'm thinking now that I prefer this version:
I think having an Inspire within a Choose One is pushing it a little with complexity. I believe Choose Ones are all immediate effects.
Would love some opinions on my card here:
