Hello my dying brothers. I know there's many of you out there who noticed how weak our favorite class in the current meta is. I'v seen some posts about shamans who made it to legend in last season with a classic cookie-cutter control deck, u know - double chow, spiders, feral spirits, 1 earth spirit etc, pretty standard. Now when all wings are open and new deck are rising like dragonfag-everything, i don't think we stand any chance. Ofc there will be some exceptions who will reach that legend as a shaman but man, there's so few of them... This is not another QQ post, i'm trying to motivate all of you! Together we can make a innovative shaman meta-breaker deck that might give us the chance to recover! We will never have the same win-ratio as hunters or mech mages, but at least we can give them hell! Shaman has so many dead cards that no one uses like Ancestral Healing,Totemic Might,Forked Lightning,Frost Shock etc etc...Shaman has to be a class with highest amount of dead cards atm. So i'v been testing lately, made a totem deck with double Vitality Totem and Totemic Might , it was pretty fun i must admit, having x2 0/5 totems that heal for 4hp every turn, but ofc it was only fun, not viable. I'v been playing with Ancestral Healing as well, lots of cheap high hp minions in combo with it, more like a BL deck. Forked Lightning in a mix with Lava Shock, oh man, so much board clear. In the current meta when there's shit loads of aggro decks with 2hp cards, Forked Lightning really seems useful. I'v even made and posted a face shaman, you can check it out, its actually pretty decent. Anyways, you get the general idea, lets make something out of this class, fuck that cookie-cutter control bullshit (example here http://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/238444-legendary-florindos-shaman). Just to be clear, i'm not talking shit about Florindos or any other player who gets legend with this deck, im just sick of having no choice but to play it since its the only viable deck atm. So my shaman brothers, if you have any suggestions or ideas be free to post them here!
I agree mate, it seemed like a reborn of a overload deck but...we all saw how that turned up. Idd there are some overload decks but they are not as strong as they need to be.
Right, its truly disappointing because shaman has probably some of the most unique mechanics in the game.
Totem play - deathrattle play - bloodlust - overload. The class has a great mix of aggro and control play.. only its all generally weaker than other classes..
Your face shaman is nice but it has the typical problem of face shamans: it lacks card draw. Plus I feel there are some missing cards: face without flametongue? No windfury? You have two powermaces, what about adding some mech synergy and putting in some nice minions like Cogmaster, Whirling Zap-o-matic, Micro-machine? That is the only way you will have for out-running a face hunter or zoo-deck. You don't have enough draw to fill in the board at the same pace as a zoolock, and you cannot deal consistent damage every turn, your only hope is doing few but huge bursts of damage.
In the current meta I have realized the aggro shaman is falling behind. I have used two different aggro decks, one completely self-made which led me to some epic victories (including turn 3 against a priest, or turn 4 against control warrior):
Reason why i'm not using Cogmaster, Whirling Zap-o-matic, Micro-machine is that they will get cleared asap, so its wasted 2 mana. I'm using only charges so its direct 3-4 dmg for 3 mana. I was thinking about adding Windfury - 2 mana 3/4 dmg. This deck is all about instant direct dmg, cards that opponent cannot deal with before they do dmg. Flametongue is 2 mana 2 dmg buff and u need to combo it with a charge so its 5 mana minimum so i don't think its worth it. Card draw is not that much of a problem in this deck to be honest, at least in most situations its not. I realize it kinda looks weak but give it a try, i'v had a pretty decent win ratio with it.
I have been playing control shaman recently, and had a bit of success with it. It may seem like a cookie cutter deck, but I traded early game like Zombie Chow for more removal which is almost as good against aggro, and much better against control. It also has lots of threats, so your opponent will quickly run out of removal. It is able to out-control anything, and with Doomhammer you can pull insane burst out of anywhere! I would love if others could give some feedback for improvements, but hopefully this can give people some ideas.
Hey Bomberguy, i'v been playing control sham for a while and really got bored of it, i'm glad if you enjoy it tho. Indeed you can pull a burst out of nowhere and if your late game cards like 2 fire eles / neptulon and dr.boom survive sham is unstoppable, but problem with that deck is its really vulnerable to early game treats if u don't draw your removal. I'd keep chow coz of that. Also control warriors, get 40 shield until turn 9 then alex combo rip or druid combo can also hurt us in the late game. Control sham is decent but depends a lot on card draw, more then other control decks i'd say. What also bothers me is our hero power, i find it unfitting for a control deck. Like control warrior, priest and druid can heal, they also have class cards to keep em up so once they'v been damaged in that early game they can back up and pull out a combo in late game, we cant. More and more this game progresses and new cards are getting added, i find it harder to control the board and pull out a lethal dmg as a shaman, just remember pre-naxx shaman and how strong it was, control sham was the boss. Because of that i'm trying to make it as a face / aggro or even tempo sham, i'v really given up on control.
I've been waiting for the day that Shaman would rise. It's not quite here yet. But...There are a few interesting options out there since BRM has run it's course. I've been toying with some of the new builds to get some ideas. So far, I have rediscovered the card Windfury. It really surprised me that it is rarely a dead card. I don't know if its really a card to run 2 copies of but it has definitely popped back up on my radar.
For interested people out there, this is not an aggro deck, just good old face - pray to rngjesus there's no healbots deck. All spells go to the face except storms and earth / freezing shocks.
Love this thread, more input please! Don't give up on Shaman, ther MUST be an undiscovered OP deck :P I'm also testing some midrange and control decks.
One of the big kill moments is when you can keep just 1 big guy on the board, then cast Bloodlust and Windfury back to back, possibly with a Rockbiter Weapon or two. I've taken down opponents at full health on turn 7 with this deck.
I like both Bl decks, i agree with Chromaggus but idk about Ysera. I'd maybe add Hogger . Is it only me or other people started disliking Azure Drake as well lately? I mean its a good value card but with so many aggro decks and even few Bomb Lobber i find it really weak. Biggest problem is i never get to play it and when i do, he gets cleared asap. In BL deck i'd trade it for 2 shredders maybe.

Very disappointed with shaman class ATM. lava shock is such an excuse.. we need more than 2 cards that remove overloaded mana...

And then there is another nice burst deck with which a french player got to legend:
So the idea behind a burst shaman is nice, but you definitely need card draw or you will soon run out of steam.

Tnx Tony, hope you like it ^^
Tomskiej i'v tried out miracle sham, faced too many facetard hunters and zoo locks so i rage quit and deleted it, i guess its not for me :/
That really looks fun Animaker :o kinda expensive as well heh.
I feel your pain, shaman brothers and sisters...

Lacking both of them :/ spend most of my dust on al'akir / neptulon / dr.boom, i feel like a fool for investing in both sham legendary sometimes...

Managed Rank 7 with this typical Bloodlust Shaman last season. Will try again this season to make sure it's not a fluke.
Get's tough after Rank 6 though...

Love this thread, more input please! Don't give up on Shaman, ther MUST be an undiscovered OP deck :P I'm also testing some midrange and control decks.
I've always dabbled in Shaman a little each season, but I think it's time for Windfury to make a comeback.
Here's a deck I've been working with. Generally strong win rate, made a few changes here and there.
One of the big kill moments is when you can keep just 1 big guy on the board, then cast Bloodlust and Windfury back to back, possibly with a Rockbiter Weapon or two. I've taken down opponents at full health on turn 7 with this deck.
