You're not killing a mana crystal. The druid starts at 2 mana. You pain it. They end at 2 mana. Nothing lost.
You lose the Ramp and unless your running a low curve deck it does matter.
And if you are running a lower curve deck, why would you want a bad Mechwarper?
How does it matter? You don't lose anything, they burned some removal on your 2/3... that's it. You obviously don't play it over Wild Growth but the point is to have more consistent ramp options rather than relying on 2/30 cards (or 4/30 if you include innervate).
It's definitely worse than wild growth! You play Wild Growth to get a permanent ramp up towards the high cost of Druid cards. You do not play an average minionto temporarily gain a boost only to have it taken away later (probably one turn later) because that will not allow you to ramp up. Wild Growth is useful late game as well by providing another card draw. There's no way I'd switch out Wild Growth from a Druid deck for this or even put it in alongside it. It's just too easy to remove. I'm begininng to think that those arguing for this want to see weak Druids.
Worse than Wild Growth does not a bad card make. You don't replace Wild Growth, you play it along it, if it dies, so what? You baited out some removal. I play only Warrior and Druid (latter with the most games easily) so I by no means want to see weak Druids. This is a genuinely strong card.
What about playing your own Piloted Shredder on turn 3?
Or what about stopping ignoring the posts that explains why this card could be played?
What about it dying and you have no 3 drops to play and a hand full of 4+ drops?
Then what would you do without this card on Turn 3 anyway? Why do you only have 4+ drops in your hand? Not the card's fault if you don't mulligan correctly.
I simply don't understand how anyone can believe this card to be weak - they're either players who've never touched Druid or they're players who hang around Rank 25 permanently. It's quite clearly strong. It's one of the most immediately threatening minions in the entire game.
People suggesting this replaces Wild Growth are a bit daft - because it definitely definitely doesn't. It can however be used in conjunction with it as another ramp option - the only problem is, what do you drop? I don't think there's enough room in combo/ramp druid to put in 2 copies of this AND 2 Brewmasters or Wailings (unless your whole deck is a silence deck, Watchers etc.). So you just play this, and drop...something.
I have a tradition of crafting golden versions of my favourite single card for each expansion upon announcement.
Sludge Belcher - Shieldmaiden - Emperor
I'm on a pretty good streak so far I think, and so far, Darnassus Aspirant is my gold choice for GT. THIS IS BASICALLY A SURE THING. Sort of. Not really. Shaddap.
This is probably one of the best cards of the set so far, why are people saying dust tournament in this, of all threads?!
People are crazy.
This card is great, and it is the single best card in the game to play into Mirror Entity - doesn't sound like a big deal but, it's a thing. I love this card so much, I really do. Two good Druid cards in one expansion (so far!) ... we're being spoiled.

Combatant is by no means awful.
