Imo you don't need to buy anything and especially combo decks are generally cheap. If you want to craft something, you can go for some neutral versatile powerhouses like Zilliax deluxe 3000 and Reno Lone Ranger.
When I returned to HS I decided to play wild with only one class, so I disenchanted all the other class cards. The wild card pool is deep enough that every class can play every basic archetype (aggro, midrange, control, combo), so I don't get bored. I play a few games every couple of weeks and it's been enough to get 2k gold for each miniset.
