I guess to each his/her/their own, huh? I don't hate the state of the game, honestly. There seems to be a range of viable decks out there right now... ranging from aggro, to combo, to (kind of) control. There are decks that shoot you from hand and decks that play for board.
If you keep running into quest mage, then tech in some cards that are good against it, if you can. Crossroads Watch Post and Ogremancer can win that match by themselves.

If your deck can't fit those in, then you could try Robes of Protection.
And be prepared to never see another quest mage again once you've made changes to your deck to beat them :)
