It does, but MMR has an influence and can tip it to either side for 4th and 5th places. It’s only few points like in your example though.

No, why? It’s based on your MMR in contrast to the rest of the lobby.

Your first lobby had lower MMR and thus you got corrected down, your second was stronger and you were correct up.
