I think the most ludicrous argument I've heard through-out the "I hate priests" threads is this:
"The games take too long!"
You are playing a game, it's meant to take time away from day to day activites. There are streamers who play as a "job" but again its a game. The time you set aside to play the game, or the lack of time you set aside in favor of procrastination, is to play the game.
Now you come to the forums and act like playing a game is serious business, when for the majority of you are playing just to waste time and get away from reality.
For the streamers, the more time that is spent streaming and entertaining viewers equates to more money earned, so playing that 3rd priest of the day is a great way to interact with the viewers and start generating more subs and more revenue.
The argument that "the games take too long" is just more proof that this is a world moving faster and faster towards instant gratification and a lackluster desire to actually work for what you deserve. (and yes I am a priest player and yes I will play out to the last turn with another priest as my opponent)
Looking at the last few pages, no one has mentioned the length of game.
You’ve just typed a massive wall to make a redundant point. But at least you got that one off your chest.
If you delete Priest most folks playing Priest will just move to control warlock. Then we would need to delete warlock. Then those priest and warlock players would go play warrior. Then you would want warrior deleted. Then maybe we would try to play shaman or paladin. But again, you want those classes deleted also.
Maybe when the best contril class is hunter you would finally be happy?
Similar to others, you've missed the point. People aren't upset about playing against control but the archetypes promoted for priest to play.
People rarely complain about warlock because you know what the deck does, it's actually very consistent. You know the threats and can adopt a game plan, the only exception I can think of is the cube lock meta and that is exactly what we're talking about, infuriating mechanics such as out of control mana cheating.
I'll reiterate to make sure - people dislike playing against reserrect mechanics, card steal mechanics and infinite random discover value. These are all priest really has though currently.
It's also quite suffocating for the meta because what other control deck can beat priest? I'd love to make a control dh with the new soul shard cards but it feels pointless when it can't ever beat priest's infinite value.
It's a shame the OP made the title this way as it comes across less constructive.
I'm watching Thijs now and he's saying himself how much he dislikes Mindrender Illucia as a card. He ends up conceding against the priest because he doesn't actually want to play it out because it's so long. Shouldn't be this way.
Priests aren't the problem. Card generation is. Priests would be absolute trash right now if not for card generation.
You've missed the point. People aren't complaining about the strength of the class but rather the enjoyment of playing against it. But yes priest's ability to generate random cards is part of the issue amongst other reasons.
Priest will always be a cancerous class until Blizzard stops pushing archetypes like resurrect, card steal, minion steal and infinite discover value. This doesn't need to be the priest class identity and it's evidenced through years of feedback how much people hate playing against these archetypes. It's fairly balanced and I'm not saying it's too strong, just not enjoyable games.
For whatever reason though it doesn't look to be changing any time soon so we must continue to endure it.
