An old discussion correlating aggro with fun and control with boring. Understandably as this thread consists of Blizzards target audience and 'political' base. It's like a bar where 'party' members celebrate drinks on aggro = skill = fun. Reading through, it's like being a democrat on a conservative convention. Looking at adults celebrating certainties of children.
After 7 years for the first time I'm wondering if the skill floor is on the rise with this new expansion, pushing combostone. Knowing how to combo is from higher skill order than the 'skill' of knowing when to trade/go face. Controlling the board state requires so much more thinking power than face is the place. But saying that in the bar of Blizzards 'conservatives' encounters deafening ears.
But there are enough out there who will enjoy a game of control skill, while seeing the inevitable aggro crowd as Blizzards way to say: we can't help it for now, need to sell packs. In the end it is all about the money. Aggro sells like sex does.
So the 'election' of who defines what skill is will be fought in the coming months. Who wins the Presidency on skill? We live in a post-truth society they say and those pointing that out, consistently accused of being fake news. Where is that country and the world (of HS) heading. A change of course? Maybe the association with school and students is a trend break, after years of considering mindlessness skill, a dawn of a new era in which there will be a redefinition and the aggro player deprogrammed and re-educated to appreciate the real thing?
Time will tell. For now enjoy your aggro vs. aggro.
