I consider myself to be Neutral Good, despite part of me wanting to be more Chaotic (probably because the reasons @Danjo explained above :P). I try to do the right thing because I find it easier and more rewarding to do than doing bad things, not because an arbitrary law forces me. In fact I prefer to think of laws more as suggestions than obligations, even if I don't break laws for practical reasons. I legit cannot understand how bad people can get away with their bad deeds weighing on them, but I guess each person deals with their past different.
As for what alignment I prefer in fiction, evil is near always more interesting imo, specially lawful and chaotic evil. Rakdos guild best guild.
