I don't know yet which deck/s I'm going to use, but if something is for sure, I'm going to play (and enjoy ;)) this expansion in a local I frequent near my home. I'm going to be there every f..king Tuesday and during the weekends... It's time to burn my wallet!!! :D :D :D
I am not jealous at all!You hear me?!I AM NOT!(ok i totally am). There are so few places to play magic here and i totally lack the time to attend them. :(
Not planning on getting into standard as I'm missing like 95% of the cards and I don't have an income to spend on getting them, but I do plan on drafting the new set since it does look pretty cool and fun. The only cards I'm really excited about in this set are the new Karn because it gives another null rod to combo people out in commander and Tezzeret because Affinity of Artifact is gross and I love it.
I am very interested to play the other modes of magic! I am really new to the game and i have only played it in the arena thanks to my brother shermy.
As for the big reason I'm commenting on this thread is because I've noticed you have an 'obsession' with Bolas and I was wondering why? I know he's been around for a while but I'm wondering what makes him stand out to you as opposed to the other MTG villains/characters? I haven't read the old lore about Bolas from back in Legends but the new stuff and the stuff in Alara don't really compare to Memnarch, Praetors and just phyrexia in general in my opinion.
I have read almost all the magic lore, but the Praetors,. the eldrazzi etc just do not reasonate to me as Bolas does. The reason i love him is because was "weakling" and ridiculed by the other dragons and the first thing he saw was his sister being hunted down.Yet he managed to gain so much power that even the gods consider him out of the 3 biggest threats of the multiverse. Another reason that i like him is that he is somehow relatable without being a"sympathetic" villain. He is not morally grey, he IS evil. Yet he has every reason for being so. And most importantly he gained his power via intellect and cunning.
Ironically though, my second favourite character in all magic universe is his brother Ugin and my 3rd favourite is Liliana. Ugin is what bolas would be if he had the power to forgive and accept others. And liliana is an awesome tragic hero. I like complex characters in general regardless of their morality and Bolas is complex character while being as "evil" as it gets.
How i did not see this heresy earier!? YOU WILL KNEEL BEFORE THE GOD PHARAOH! BOLAS VULT!
Honestly though, the way he lost was so satysfying! It took Ugin, Niv Mizzet (two super genius even among the elder dragons) plus all planeswalkers and the entire heaven army to barely bring down our lord. I have yet to see such an satisfying conflict since the fall of Melkor in Silmarillion.
Does it consume lots of time/money to play both HS and MTGA?
I play magic for 5 months just 25 minutes per day on average and i have all tier 1 decks and a couple tier2 decks. But i am good at both constructed and draft modes so i farm them like there is no tomorrow on saturdays.
Overall is a generous game if you manage your resources correctly but is nowhere near as generous as gwent or eternal. The only hurdle in magic is collecting the rare lands which are necessary but unfun to collect.Once that is out the way, your collection growth snowballs very fast. But even till then you can play a mono colour tier 1 deck basically the first days.
while MTGA gives you a lot more packs than hearthstone, I think its harder to get a large collection because there are so many more cards in magic than in hearthstone, so packs are less consistent, and you need more cards to make a deck.
also I dont think they give enough wild cards.
Well while this not false,it is not exactly true either. The thing is, that mtg has a lot of play modes while hs has only play mode and arena. In mtg is easy to find a constructed or draft mode and go infinite with 55-66 % winrate (depending on the mode). Plus playing these modes are generally faster than playing hs arena. This is where the generosity of mtg comes. The default earnings are meh, but the potential rewards are amazing for f2p.
I bought the preorder because i enjoy the game and i see that the developers are listening the playerbase but even without it i had 88000 gold and 5000 gems in a mere 1.5 month of hording.
P.S: Anyway, lets not derail the thread further. :P

Rejoice peasants! Our God Emperor has returned! What decks have you played or intent to play in the war of the spark? What is your experience? The few hours till now have been awesome, finally my grixis deck can be built to not have dead cards and the amass mechanic kicks monoreds and white wheenies *ss!
I know this is hearthpwn, but other games are allowed as well. Plus there are no other sites as awesome as this for any other game in general.
