I've been playing this game now for several weeks. Still ranking up and earning cards. I've only played solo modes, so read this review with that in mind. First impressions: Overall, LOVE IT! Great concept. Really fun. Blends together a lot of aspects from games that I love to create a unique experience. Super fun game with lots of potential for variety. Kudos to the devs!
Biggest criticism is that the game does not seemed to be very well optimized. It EATS UP my laptop battery life and forced the fan to kick on shortly after opening. It's not a big deal but caught me by surprise. I hope it's something the devs work on. I also wish I could buy battle chests (with in game currency). It's a little tedious having to earn them over time. I can buy mythic ones, why not regular ones?
Taking pros and cons into consideration, this game is lots of fun and worth the money I spent to get it. It has become my go to when I get tired of HS.
I decided to get it after all the comments here. I've only played a little (has a very helpful tutorial system that gets you up to speed) and I have to say so far: I LOVE it! I can see why some others made the comment that it's could definitely live alongside HS and not be considered competition. Going to play it some more and will post additional reviews/discuss my experience playing it if anyone is interested.
Thanks again, Atmaz, for the post. While I'm going to be focused on HS with the new expansion coming out, I absolutely will give Faeria a try. Been watching some vids and Twitch players. Looks like a great game (I actually like the fact that it is a slightly slower game). As someone commented, it looks like it can live alongside HS - similar enough to interest people like me, yet different enough to be its own thing. I wish you and your dev team much success!
QUESTION 1: How does the expansion work? Do I only play players who have it or do I continue to play against anyone with those additional cards?
QUESTION 2: How does XP work? What's the value of having the double XP bonus?
PS - Thank you for making it Mac friendly :)
1) The matchmaking queues group everyone together, DLC or not. However, we have intentionally designed our card base to where you should not need any DLC to be competitive in any way.
2) You get XP for pretty much any game that you play. Single player, multiplayer, it doesn't matter. The actions you do in game reward you XP at the end, and with every gained level you earn a full Battle Chest (card pack.) Doubling the XP with Premium version makes that process twice as fast, but there are still many other methods of increasing your collection such as Daily Quests and crafting.
Thanks for the replies. Been checking out reviews and you all have lots of positive press. Good for you! I'm glad to see you have moved away from loot crates and just made it an upfront purchase.
Are their any plans to add an App store version? I'm going to check it our regardless, just curious.
Sounds really cool, Atmaz! I've been looking for a complement for Hearthstone, and I'm definitely going to check this out. I'm a HUGE Carcassone fan ("living board" games are my favorite), played MTG starting w/ Legends for MANY years, I love me some chess and really enjoy Catan. I really dig the aesthetic of your game. Thanks for your post (hand thanks to the mods for allowing it).

I'm curious to hear if anyone has tried the game? I see a few people have and said it's a gem that should be discovered. Anyone else?
