Humble Brag: It took me a while, but it is now done. Not only did I finished with all of my 9 golden classes, I'm already at 560 wins with Priest. Damn it feels good. Wondering what's my next challenge, as I'm already close to a 1000 wins with both Warlock and Paladin.
My class picks and allegiance used to vary due to this golden frame goal ... now what? ^^
Now done with Rexxar, only missing a 100 wins with Malfurion and about 250 with Priest. I really should have boarded the Dragon-Priest-Hype-Train when it was the time during MSoG's era :(
Finished Mage last weekend, and it was too good not to be shared on the Pepper thread. Only 30 more to go for Rexxar, then will only have Malfurion & Anduin* left to grind ^^
Malfurion (1925 wins) then Rexxar (571 wins) now working on Uther with 370 wins and rouge with 190 wins
Damn, that's so serious Malfurion's love <3 : out of curiosity, which deck(s) did you used predominantly, and around what era did you achieved most of those druid's win ? And as for the other class to grind, you are pretty lucky : Paladins and Rogues are at a pretty good spot right now to play these class intensively :)
Don't have one yet, since I started playing less than 4 months ago, and at first I didn't focus on a single class.
However, since OP has extended the invite to post to the rest of us as well, I plan on getting my 1st golden hero with Rexxar. He's the one who has progressed most so far, and also the one I'm playing the most atm.
Currently at 118/500. I know, it's a long road, lol.
BTW, maybe it could be interesting to know how long did it take to get your 1st golden hero?
Hey there, Do not feel belittled by this little. Getting gold heroes may take some serious time investment! The first class I had relative steady success was also Hunter, but it took me a while before having enough of the cards I wanted to play what I thought would be good, and that was way before discovering HearthPwn and other deck-building community - which skyrocketed my comprehension of the game, play-style and strong archetype given the expansion that was on at the time.
It must have took me at least 3-4 seasons to get my first one, which was Gul'Dan - since I had the best pool of classic card for Warlock. Getting the gold portrait for me was the goal, as I was getting a better understanding of said class, and once it was achieved, I could move on to an other. I was planing on getting them all from the start, since my interest (intention) was in mastering all class. Once I was done with one, I barely played it again, so I could give more attention to other class. It then maybe took me an other 2 months for Paladin. Warrior was the longest one, as there wasn't any of that Pirate-Aggressive power playstyle, so you had to go the long way : Control/Fatigue Warrior.
But in the end, it is all about having fun, exploring, getting better and eventually show-off and impress some new comers - lol Remember that there's no rush either on grinding all heros to lvl 60, as there's nothing after ... Take your time, and make sure to enjoy the journey, as the destination is pretty underwhelming ..! :)
Edit : Just for clarity - I have been playing since before Naxx expansion (a bit over 30 seasons) - and I have yet to complete all gold portraits : unless you play 40 hours a week, it will take time ^^
I completed my golden warrior last season and decided to now give some love to Malfurion Stormrage, as he was the least picked overall in this survey. To rank-up and get that golden druid's portrait, I did my own take on the infamous Jade Lotus Druid :
Zoolock is love Zoolock is life ..! If it wasn't from the fact that I'm now gridding for the other gold hero, think I'd still be playing Warlock, all the way!
You made me chuckle with that one: I wasn't expecting a user named hillander that has Garrosh as avatar to be into Valeera ^^ But just like you, I do think Rogue is a great class
Your poll is missing an option: I still don't have any golden heroes
Damn ... I totally forgot about that ... And now I feel like an ass for everyone who doesn't have a golden hero already that will see this ... Sorry about that ... I'll fix this right away. Have a great end of weekend :)
Edit : It felt like if I was to edit the poll, I had to redo it all, and I'm way too lazy to retype this all ... But I'll had a little something for you guys, like a sub-question : If you don't already have one, which is the most likely 1st one you will get/ which one are you closer to ? (still working on the phrasing) Enjoy your sunday!
I chose to exclude skin because I'm lazy and didn't wanted to search for more names ^^, and since after all, it does not alter the answer one bit because it's the same class, I decided not to bother..! :P So, Hunter it is ? Hello, wanderer. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I doubt you'll find many people having gotten to 500 for their first Golden hero with control decks in general, which (while C'thun druid was fairly simple to play) is probably also why this wouldn't have contributed much. A perhaps more interesting poll would be with which deck archetypes people got the majority of their wins. The reason Hearthstone ladder is - and always has been, post Naxxramas - full of aggro, is that the ladder has little incentive in terms of ranking up for control decks - your deck can lose to itself with poor answers versus more consistent early game hands from aggro, and rather than having 15 mins wins with control, you have 3-5 mins wins with aggro.
I understand your point, but that would be a whole different poll. I was genuinely curious in knowing about class preferences when people started, about what was there ''go to'' class, which often is also the class you grinded the most. As for myself, I didn't really discovered Hearthpwn and other sources of netdecking before GvG, so I didn't knew much about archetypes and consistent decklists. I was more playing thematic-deck with cards I liked, cards I had and noob-feelin' about what I thought would work. I still managed to get Warlock and Paladin Gold using this ''strategy''..! Of course, when you add into the equation what deck (arche)type got them that consistent 500 wins, I tend to think like you ; ladder's full of aggro-wins-farmers, that's for sure. This being said, maybe you could conduct such a poll, but I doubt the results would be surprising : Hunter-undertaker, Tempo/Freeze/Mech-Mage, Agrro-whatever, Miracle-whatever, Oil-rogue, Handlock, Zoolock, Renolock and of course, Pirrate-Warriors ..! There must be a couple more, but on top of my head, that's about it.
Priest for sure!! But 8.2% warrior... that's a joke
I know right ....I find it ''Astonishing!'' I was expecting more love for the Warriors. I mean 21 votes for Warrior, out of 242 votes (8.7%) is pretty low ... Obviously not as low as the druid-case ; According to Hearthpwn community, Malfurion's such a reject ... or if we want to look it from an other angle: Winner of the most neglected class among beginners and rookies, with (only) 9 users out of 242 (3.7%) that got him gold before any other class...! ''Spectacular...!'' ^^
