I like to play wild because there is not really an active meta, in the beginning the old school decks like secret paladin were still very active but since nearly every other deck included an eater of secrets as a counter against it so there's not a lot of those decks left. Facehunter also got nerfed with a few cards. My point of playing wild is that I do not encounter the same decks over and over again.
it does make it harder on newer players because wild generally has a lot of great (=better) cards to fit in that newer players most likely dont' have. Although lately I have been seeing a trend that aggro shaman and other standard decks make their way to wild as well but they are easier to beat then in standard. personally, I like to play a N'zoth rogue which is pretty OP because of shredder's, Belchers etc. that make a return with N'zoth as a finisher.
There are few things more satisfying that meeting mid-range shammy in wild when playing mid-range paladin. Well met!
Wild is fairly balanced. There is a lot N'zoth decks as you go down in ranks yes, but those are easy to punish if you're a bit clever... so the rock / paper / scissors works.
In standard, it doesn't work. There are decks without counters, and it is pointless to try and be the least bit creative... and unlike expansions in the past, the most recent expansion solidified this state.
