Don’t have time to explain it all now, but rogue has access to some of the best tempo cards in the game with backstab and preparation. They’re very efficient and snowball out of the early turns.
The win condition is in the name, tempo. The archetype may not have a huge, impressive finish, but it has the ability to draw, control the board, remove threats, and damage the face. It allows for a level of consistency in play style, and mitigates things like a bad mulligan or top deck.
Swing turns nobody else can do, the highroll of discover and synergies between the cards. Building a wide board and topping it off with a 12/12 Edwin is quite good of a wincon. Pretty sure you could find a lot other situations on stream.
Here are my last few games, just to give you a sense of what's happening:
Actually new Tempo Rogue is pretty under powered considering the older versions of it. The most ambitious example is the one from KoFT. That deck really destroyed the meta with Prince Kelesteh, Bonemare and Cobalt Scalebane.
But todays tempo rogue is top tier because of how Rogue can pull of some heavy cards for cheap, big stats for 3 mana (edwin), draw 3 cards for 0 mana (prep + raiding party) etc.
It's very good if u are super lucky, just like most other decks too! If you draw dead like me, it's barely a 50% winrate deck. So just get lucky and get gud.

No huge impressive finish. I guess turn 8 double leeroy isn't very great.... Lol
As per HSReplay Tempo Rogue has a good winrate.
A quick glance at the deck and it doesn't look that strong. No particurlarly outstanding minions or significant board clears.
Yet this deck is 59% considering aggro (?) decks like Token Druid in the mix right now.
What are the features of this deck that makes it a winner in this current "meta"?
Asking because I'm new to CCGs and genuinely bewildered. Like I don't see the win condition. What archetype does it fit under?
Being able to make huge temp plays with Vendetta / Riding party and the new 4 mana weapon + leeroy

Bomb/Control Warrior (not really a necessary concession but I was on the winning side) https://hsreplay.net/replay/XuPrKZFxWSvv6vEtqszG68
Big Shaman (ignore my huge misplay with Leeroy, I wasn't even half focusing on the game) https://hsreplay.net/replay/3NyKbvtXw63EG4PN9L72Jh
Minion Mage https://hsreplay.net/replay/Vfc9DLVAqm6gcoBPCEawnW
It's always been a solid deck, from the early days of Gadgetzan Auctioneer and Leeroy Jenkins, Face, Shadowstep, Leeroy Jenkins Face etc etc through to now.
Tempo Rogue is just a good deck to play. Intuitive and fairly well balanced. I think I might throw one together actually... 🤔
4/3/19 RIP Keith Flint. 😔

hs is a tempo based game, and rogue is the king of tempo right now so...

Tempo rogue is over rated in this meta the deck is too unstable for my liking
Cool. It's by far the best deck though.
Tempo rogue has
good minion pressure,
good tempo comebacks with sap/backstab,
situationally useful discovered cards from other classes and
tons of burst with not only but noticeably waggle pick + leeroy (2 cards 14 dmg)
