I don't have paletress (mainly 'cause I don't play much priest), but in the games ive played against her, I've found that I can remove paletress quite easily (5/4 body is REALLY weak) - weapon swing, frostbolt ping, fireball etc.. Though I imagine she'd be quite decent against most other late game decks apart from Control Warrior (personal experience here. Never lost a game to Paletress and I've gone up against her a lot).
I feel that Ysera is quite clearly better. The reasons are - 1) neutral - can be used in any class 2) dragon decks require her as an activator AND a huge threat 3) body is a lot stronger and harder to remove. 4) attack in the sweet spot where no BGH can hit it, nor any shadow words (on their own) and 4 attack can eat the first half of shredder, eat jugglers, mad scientists etc. The only con is that its pretty darn susceptible to cabal shadow priest shenanigans, but then again, you can hold onto her until you have some heavy removal or have tested for the combo of shrinkmeister+cabal before
Now for Vol'jin. He's just a sort of removal in my eyes. He's more impactful than the other 2 if he gets a good target but NOT as a finisher - he's a stabiliser/removal. The other two are finishers.
So, if I were to play priest, I'd definitely get the epics first (cabal, lightbomb, etc.) and then get Ysera followed by Vol'jin. And if I still feel like playing priest, I'll craft Confessor Paletress
I'd say she's more of a late game value minion than a win condition. The only way she is reliable as a finisher is if your opponent can't deal with her on his turn, at which point even ragnaros would fit the job perfectly.
Anyway, I think Ysera will always be better than her, but if you want your deck to be heavily favoured against any other control decks, you can definitely consider running both.
Althrough she is far from bad. She can pull up a lot of good value on turn 9, and instead having 1 legendary on board, you have 2. More minions are in most cases always better.
But she's not better than ysera. But a turn after ysera she's pretty good, especially on turn 10 when you can heal ysera with an Northshire Cleric on board; Draw a card, summon a 5/4 and an extra minion. Happened often enough.
Confessor Paletress is the Hearthstone equivalent of a Wonderbra. Looks fantastic but once you see what is inside you can be very disappointed. Some of my highlights have included Bloodmage Thalnos, a 2/2 Edwin VanCleef and a Baron Rivendare. None of theses were particularly useful on turn 9.
IMO if you want to tech your deck for pure control match ups, I don't think it's wrong to run both her and ysera to be fair :/ sneeds is probably a consideration too, but at that point you are going to suffer every time you face aggro.
Paletress is a great finisher. Her pros include being faster than Ysera, allowing you to use your hero power on the turn you play her, and presenting multiple targets simultaneously that require immediate attention. Her cons are her less steady and reliable nature and her greater susceptibility to removal through damage.
I was skeptical of Paletress before I tried her, but now after >150 games with her I'm convinced that she is solid. I haven't kept statistics, but while there are some games that I've lost because I have not received great legendaries from her, there are also lots of games I've won that I would have definitely lost if I had had Ysera instead. (For context, I played with Paletress to Rank 4 this season, then switched classes to something faster than Priest for a change)
If you're interested, you can take a look at how I've used Paletress in actual games:
Confessor Paletress is almost good imo. Yes, you can get something bad, like Edvin or Majodormo (can lose you the entire game) but you play her when it's safe situation or 50\50. She can give you some extra win conditions. For example, the best cards I got from her was Tirion, which is extremly good, Al'Akir, which is also good in a lot of situations, Ysera, Sylvanas, Malganis and e.t.c. So. I'd rather play her than any other not-very-important legendary
I play Confessor in Dragon priest (because i don't a Vol'jin and he woild be better) alongside with Ysera. Both of them are doing same job, and thats to make a treat for next turn(s), giving you value with every turn. Ysera is "better" because it gives you one out of four cards (less RNG), but Confessor can gives you 5/4 body + one more potentialy huge body. Yes it can give you Lorewalker but it can also give you Deathwing.
Also, both cards are playing when you have control of the board, either you drop them behind a taunt, or you have minion(s) to trade, or to drop them on empty board and hope for the best.
And, yes, Ysera has potential to leave more than one turn.

Just how strong is Paletress as a finisher? For people who have her, do you find her helpful in closing out games? Is she more impactful than ysera?
Struggling between her and vol'jin atm.
Ysera is better because shes more consistant. Its just not that geat to spent 9 mana just for a 5/4 and Lorewalker cho.
I'd say she is more impactful than Ysera, but neither of them are "finishers". They are more like these snowballing monsters of value.
Paletress and Vol'jin don't really compare. Vol'jin is more actively controlling, while Paletress generates value over time.

Paletress is good behind a taunt.

I always get good drops from Confessor Paletress. It's a fun card to play but i would go with Ysera for more late game.
I do not study the DIVINE to imitate what they do
