Mean Streets of Gadgetzan, the upcoming Hearthstone expansion, is just around the corner. And Anduin is working hard on his comeback by getting seemingly strong cards! Probably everyone already agrees that the Priest class won't be terrible anymore. But how good will the class really be? Which decks will prove themselves to be viable? Early contenders are Dragon Priest and a new kind of Control Priest.
Reasons enough to contemplate making first Priest deck drafts already. Here I will be showing you my first version of a new Control Priest deck that could be very good in the upcoming meta.
This is a Control Priest version which includes the Auchenai-Circle combo and revolves around healing cards a bit. Also, I put in one Fel Ore Soulfiend, because it has some nice synergy with cards like Cleric, Circle of Healing and others. Actually, I am very unsure whether this approach is the best one. I got ideas revolving around healing even more with cards like Holy Champion included or playing a very reactive variants with loads of removal just in order to get to your value cards by Elise Starseeker or Prince Malchezaar. Also, Dragon Priest will become much better with the new expansion. Should I mash some Dragon minions into this deck just to include Drakonid Operative and Netherspite Historian and drop Auchenai, Circle and Flash Heal (and some more cards) for it?
Questions over questions - and all we can do is talk and think about all the scenarios until the expansion arrives.
Let me first tell you some of my first thoughts only, because we still don't know many of the new upcoming cards:
- Pint-Sized Potion is easily my most favourite new Priest card so far and I strongly believe it will be awesome in just about any Priest deck.
- Cabal Shadow Priest is back! My probably most favourite card in the game (and also the best looking golden card - fact :P) will probably be played in doubles (at least 1 copy) in Priest decks. The synergy with Pint-Sized Potion is just too sweet, also there many new targets coming with the set. Here is hoping that there will be another attack reduction card though.
- Dragonfire Potion is awesome and probably should be run in maximum numbers. I still only included one, because my deck variant actually gets hurt as well by the card, as the deck attempts to keep its minions on the board...
- Potion of Madness: Not good enough to warrant being run over the alternatives. Heck, I even only included one PW: Shield...
- Fel Ore Soulfiend is a very interesting card, but also one of the early contenders to getting swapped for something else. Nevertheless, the minion has some synergy with Circle and the other support cards.
- There are many cards I am considering to put in - even changing the whole approach could happen. It has to be seen if the Auchenai-Circle combo should be run for example etc.
As you see, this deck is far away from being settled, but the fact that there are potentially viable options for Priest decks to talk about, should give us enough reason to be happy about the upcoming times!
Hello guys!

- There are many cards I am considering to put in - even changing the whole approach could happen. It has to be seen if the Auchenai-Circle combo should be run for example etc.
[card]Acolyte of Pain could be better than Northshire Cleric, Inner Fire could be a nice tech with all these high-health minions. Then there are removals like a 2nd Dragonfire Potion or Holy Nova to think of, Priest of the Feast, Potion of Madness etc...
As you see, this deck is far away from being settled, but the fact that there are potentially viable options for Priest decks to talk about, should give us enough reason to be happy about the upcoming times!
