Anyone swapped in Sneed's (or another card) in midrange paladin over Dr. Boom? I have not, but I've definitely been considering it. It's my only BGH tarket, and by turn 7, the chances the opponents has BGH is close to 40-50% (and that's if I have Boom by then). Sneed's can eat a silence from Tirion which is great and BGH won't hit it. My obvious concerns is that it's 8 mana, so it shares that slot with Tirion, and let's face it, Boom not getting hit by BGH is potent.
I don't believe in the idea of taking out cards that your opponent might not have an answer to, cause with this logic, you might as well not play anything at all. Plus, if your opponent doesn't have a BGH, and believe me, this WILL happen, they will get wrecked very quickly. And there's always the 2 little bots that survive to wreck havoc afterwards, so there's that. I wouldn't take out Boom because BGH.
As much as I love Sneeds, I feel like it's too slow right now. By the time you play Sneeds, Boom already got in a swing. And like you said, there's the problem with matching slots not only Tirion, but also Lay on Hands. In a slower/control meta though, I'd definitely make some space for Sneeds.
It depends on the deck. Boon is great for fighting go gain board control due to the boom bots and the need to take out a 7/7. Sneeds is super sticky and good for preserving board control. In a control deck Sneeds may well be better, but in an agressive agro or mid range deck Boom is a great follow up to keep your ball rolling.

It's ironic, because I play the midrange variant and I was considering removing because he often appears to be a loss of tempo. I obviously need to gather statistics for it, but he's so susceptible to BGH and the boom bots are quite random. I think the fact that he is a 7 drop is what makes the decision quite difficult.
Dr. Boom, like most of the good cards in this game is a huge bet. It seems that HS has come to the point where you are fishing for your opponents responses with good cards. If he doesn't have one immediatelly then it's over. Not running Dr.Boom because of BGH is like not running Tirion due to Ironbeak Owl.

That is a pretty good way to look at things. Maybe they could nerf Dr. Boom by making Sneed's 7 mana ;)
Right now i wouldn't be trading Dr Boom for Sneed. Unless they start nerfing it or his bots he's still a huge threat on the board that must be dealt with right away. It's also a perfect way to get back some board control (if the RNG gods are with you) when you're behind.
The thing is that in that kind of deck you don't have much to do with 7 mana while the 8 mana slot is a bit more interesting (Tirion, Muster + Quartermaster, Lay on Hands).
Sneed is much more sticky but so random. You're absolutely not sure you will really get something worth the 8 mana spent in the first place with it. Sure he might get a Silence and leave Tirion safe but Sneed might simply get ignored and get hit only to your face.
I do play Sneed when i don't have a strong Turn 8 option in the deck but i wouldn't ditch a 7 drop for it, especially in Paladin deck.

Sneed's is a little too late for midrange, in this situation Boom fits better.
On a quest to capture every zone in Azeroth into Hearthstone cards! Elwynn Forest, Redridge Mountains, Stranglethorn Vale and Northern Barrens!
Very well said by Grumhul.
